Two popular textile showrooms in #Madurai have parking on the #Vaigai riverbed!
Once flourishing, then a dumping ground, Vaigai now hosts cars even as a ₹79.26 crore riverfront project is tendered.
Worse, @Mdu_CityPolice appear to facilitate it.
MP @SuVe4Madurai flagged this.

Karnataka govt is showing unusually high urgency for Hebbal short tunnel project. Wish Metro & suburban rail projects had received even 10% of this urgency.
Replying to @vevck
After yesterday's rains, behold the state of the #HebbalShortTunnel this morning. 🌧️

The footpaths of 12th Main, Indiranagar are a mess.
- Piles of rubble rivalling conflict zones
- Trees doubling as dustbins
- Missing/broken slabs
- Inexplicable craters
Billions in venture capital have been deployed in this part of town. The footpaths could use some love too.
A national malaise in urban India. In spite of Supreme Court orders establishing primary right of pedestrians. @fpjindia @vsudarshan @MumbaiPolice @CMOTamilnadu @walkingproject @walkingindia @IFPedestrians

I was talking to my friend Amit today. He is a Scale 3 Manager at SBI.
During our conversation, he suddenly said
"Friend, the job stress is already too much, and I am exhausted from driving every day too. I am seriously thinking of hiring a driver."
Amit is 32 and earns around ₹35 LPA gross.
But his biggest problem is not his salary or his job.

After intensively walking Istanbul, Berlin, Paris and parts of Germany, I am convinced Indian infrastructure is totally hostile to humans, friendly only to cars, bikes. Our public transport can scale up quickly under literate leaders. But our walking infra is in the stone age

Active mobility (walk+public transport) helps me touch 15000 steps a day in Berlin. But in Chennai, I struggle to get to 5000, forced on to road without footpaths, dodging vehicles, obstacles, trash everywhere. @CMDA_Official @WorldBankIndia @WRIIndia @CumtaOfficial @chennaicorp

We are a morally dead nation!
All the bravado about being Vishwaguru but cannot handle a six year old child executing his constitutional rights.
During Bihar protests yesterday, the police arrested a SIX year old child!
A child!!
A child!!
Just for holding a poster, demanding resignation of the Prime Minister 🙏🏽👌🏽

Chennai needs focused footpath creation & clearance drive. For too long, decline of walking space is tolerated as welfare to aid only hawking. Law is clear. Vending is lower priority than walking. We don't need gentrification! @CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ @chennaicorp @Tambaram_Corp

This needs to be demolished as it is not code-compliant @chennaicorp .

Saidapet Court already has multiple ghost bus shelters - Chennai has many - buses no longer stop, or stop some distance away.
Stainless steel bus shelters can be moved instead of demolished. (Then again maybe learning will happen only when you scrap & redo for compliant infra!)
