I recently learned about the staggering gap in surgical pricing across Mumbai: 100-bed suburban hospital: ₹1.3 lakh Corporate hospital (e.g., Hinduja): ₹6.5 lakh for laparoscopic Hysterectomy ( Packages by Insurance company ) Ayushman Bharat scheme: ~₹50,000 Same surgery, identical clinical procedure—a 5x ro 10x price difference. Why are insurance companies willing to clear inflated corporate bills worth ₹6.5 lakh without hesitation, but aggressively scrutinize and delay a genuine ₹1 lakh claim from a smaller nursing home? The end victim is the regular consumer. Massive payouts to corporate hospitals drive up overall claim expenditure, which insurance companies directly pass on to you through surging annual premiums. If mid-sized hospitals are squeezed out, corporate monopolies will be the only option left. Corporate hospitals certainly deserve a premium for infrastructure, but unchecked billing requires regulatory limits.

It has been more than five months since #TVK govt took office, and two months since state budget, state highways in #Chennai resemble country roads. Not much has changed on the ground yet.

An 85-year-old retired IAS officer, MG Devasahayam, has issued a legal notice to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, Banaswadi police & Karnataka DGP over alleged failure to curb nighttime noise pollution. Citing repeated firecracker blasts & loud music after 10pm in Lingarajapuram, the notice alleges inaction despite multiple complaints since August. It seeks strict enforcement of Supreme Court directions within three days, failing which legal proceedings may follow. @DgpKarnataka @CPBlr @BlrCityPolice

A blanket ban on reuse of single use devices in Indian healthcare will increase costs & produce large amounts of waste. The cost of reused products is split between patients. As in many countries a standardized resterilization protocol & facility is the need. Not a ban.
Union health ministry prohibits reuse of single-use devices and disposable surgical items in hospitals across India

Today protests were held in 90 cities across the country to demand: -Scrapping of the SIR -Resignation of Gyanesh Kumar SIR is an assault on people’s right to vote - 13 crore names have been deleted from the draft voter lists under SIR. The government is wrong if it thinks it can scare people and silence them by detaining them, arresting them and making them sign peace bonds. We will continue to rise against the unjust SIR. ✊🏽 #ScrapSIR #GyaneshKumarResign #PeopleAgainstSIR

A satellite dataset has revealed that the tallest trees in the Great Nicobar project area are in the 50 to 64 metre range. How many of them will escape the axe? My article for @frontline_india Frontline: #Nicobar #environment #deforestation #remotesensing

AP police restrictions have reached a peak. For the past three days, the police have not allowed YSRCP leader and former minister Vidadala Rajini to step out of her house. When she attempted to leave her residence, Sub-Inspector Priyanka pushed her down. The police are preventing her at every step from going to nomination. When the former minister questioned whether they had come to kill her, SI Priyanka responded, saying, "You can think whatever you want."
