New ECMWF data shows the *strongest subtropical jet stream* in its forecast history blowing across the Pacific and U.S. this winter into next spring, with record-strength winds predicted from California to Florida.
There's even a connection to Europe.
El Niño fuels more thunderstorms near the equator, which release heat high into the atmosphere.
That extra warmth strengthens the Hadley circulation and steepens the temperature gradient between the tropics and the mid-latitudes, which strengthens the subtropical jet.
And that's why such a stormy winter is anticipated across the western, southern and eastern United States.

My father has many friends there and I used to go with him quite often.
Sadly nowadays it is not easy even for us to go to this area.
This is one of the poorest communities in Palestine and the one who suffers the most.

The Israeli occupation has left no house or tower without disfiguring its appearance.
Today, i captured this scene of one of Gaza’s towers. From a distance, it looks as though it has escaped damage. But as you get closer, you realize that the building is no longer fit for habitation.
They destroyed it, but the stones refused to fall, and so it continues to stand.

Families in Gaza are drowning right now. This is exactly what I repeatedly warned about over the past few days. I published dozens of posts, raising the alarm about this day and the rain that would flood tents and make people's suffering even worse.
Now, everything we feared is happening. Tents are flooded, families are drowning in rainwater, and damaged buildings are at risk of collapsing on top of those living inside.
I cannot describe the extent of this abandonment. No words are enough to capture this scene. We warned, we cried out, and we pleaded, but families were left alone to face this disaster. It is heartbreaking and deeply disappointing.

Aid workers in Gaza are trying to help the population survive but warn a generation - if they survive - will battle the effects of malnutrition for the rest of their lives. Slow starvation continues, with limits placed even on warm clothes entering Gaza. They need food, water, clothing, medicines, wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs. They need the killing to stop. They need everything that was taken away to be restored - schools, universities, housing, jobs. Instead the international community looks on.
