There’s something so incredibly humbling about reading this letter from Steve Jobs in 1986.
It could have been written at literally any company I’ve ever worked at over the last 30 years.
Some things never change.
We are truly building castles in the sand.

A "roadmap" assumes you know the future so well, you already know what to do.
That's always true for some timeframe, and always false for some longer timeframe. One day versus one century, for a start.
Decide what your interval is, then don't make a roadmap longer than that.

It’s quite frustrating to feel so behind in software right now after so intensely being a student of it since 8th grade. I am not sure how to catch up other than just continuing to put in the work to accumulate AI knowledge. So if you feel that way, you’re not alone.

The best startup advice used to be "ignore competitors; just make something people want."
These days it seems like everyone is obsessed with moats and market structures and the behavior of incumbents.
Seems like we've gone too far. Just make something people want.

I was recently asked by a conference to share my approach to longevity:
- Deep connections with my partner and F&F
- Balanced exercise regimen anchored by strength training
- Daily meditation
- Stimulating, meaningful work
- Feeling & releasing full range of emotions
so simple 🙃
