🚨 WHO AUTHORISED CONSTRUCTION WORK WITHOUT FIRST ENSURING A SAFE AND USABLE SERVICE ROAD? 📍 Location: Near Bhadrappa Layout Railway Crossing, Hebbal–Goraguntepalya Outer Ring Road, Bengaluru. 🚔 Concerned Jurisdiction: Sanjayanagara Traffic Police Station. The construction work being carried out at this location appears to be poorly planned and lacking a scientifically designed traffic management arrangement. My direct question to the concerned authorities is: When the main service road was already closed and the alternative service road was neither properly developed nor safe for traffic, who authorised the commencement of this construction work under such conditions? Did the concerned authorities conduct an actual ground-level inspection before granting permission? Whenever it rains, the service road turns into a muddy and extremely slippery stretch. Yesterday, Friday evening, several two-wheeler riders skidded and fell because of these conditions. Based on the information available to me, more than 100 two-wheelers were affected, and one commuter suffered a fracture in his left leg. This is not merely an issue of poor road conditions. It is also a serious public safety concern and a matter of the working conditions of traffic police personnel deployed at the location. 🚨 THE BIGGEST CONCERN: EXCESSIVE MENTAL PRESSURE ON FRONTLINE TRAFFIC POLICE PERSONNEL! The situation of traffic police personnel working at this location also needs to be understood. The Control Room and senior officials continuously communicate instructions through walkie-talkies and mobile phone calls: - Clear the traffic immediately. - Why is traffic not moving? - Clear the congestion as quickly as possible. But my question is: When two lanes of the main road are closed, the service road is covered in mud, and the available road capacity has been drastically reduced, how exactly is a frontline traffic police officer expected to clear the traffic? Instead of addressing the actual ground-level problem, the pressure to clear traffic is continuously being placed on the personnel working on the road. Such constant pressure can create serious mental stress and an environment of undue psychological pressure for frontline personnel. Traffic police personnel are human beings too. They are not superheroes or magicians who can clear an entire traffic jam instantly. They also need safe roads, adequate resources and proper support from senior authorities. Simply issuing instructions to clear traffic will not solve a problem caused by poor infrastructure and inadequate planning. MY DIRECT REQUEST TO THE CONCERNED SENIOR AUTHORITIES: 1. Establish which authority approved the construction work without first ensuring that the service road was safe and properly developed. 2. Review the construction approval and the traffic management plan associated with this project. 3. Immediately repair and properly develop the service road so that it becomes safe and usable for commuters. 4. Until the road is made safe, ensure appropriate barricading and alternative traffic arrangements. 5. Review the excessive pressure being placed on frontline traffic police personnel by the Control Room and senior officials. 6. Arrange a joint inspection involving all departments responsible for the construction work and traffic management, and establish clear accountability. I have one important question for the concerned authorities: When permission is granted for construction work, is the responsibility limited only to the department carrying out the construction? Who takes responsibility for public safety, actual road conditions and the working conditions of traffic police personnel? The service road should have been properly repaired and made safe before allowing construction work to proceed under these circumstances.
