Just look at these horrifying images. A father is weeping in despair beside the body of his 15-year-old daughter, whom a Russian missile killed today right in the downtown of Chernihiv. Russia is the greatest barbarian in the history of humankind🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

The wounded are being evacuated from Dnipro railway station to hospitals. My account on X appears to be throttled, so please share this. People need to see this blatant attack on civilians. I’m heading down there shortly.
Unbelievably sickening. I’m writing an article right now, having already warned about the dangerous escalation and direct targeting of railway stations and passenger trains. Explosions are still continuing now…. Now, 13 people have been killed in my city, civilians 🤬

Kasparov: Russia losing this war won't look like 1945 with flags over Berlin. It will look like 1918. Germany surrendered with its own troops still inside France and Belgium, the state simply ran out of ability to fight. For Russia, that moment is a flag over Sevastopol. 1/

Amnesty is no longer the organisation that defended all who were persecuted for their freedom of speech. It has become a self-appointed, vainglorious policeman of wrongthink. It tweets out ideological slogans. It demonises those who disagree with those slogans. It intervened in FWS v Scottish Ministers, on the side of those determined to keep men in women’s prisons and rape crisis centres. Some of us haven’t forgotten that Amnesty stopped supporting the since-murdered prisoner of conscience Alexei Navalny because they deemed he’d said unacceptable things in the past. They reversed that decision due to public backlash, exactly as they withdrew the recent defamatory report, before I or anyone else had responded to it, because they panicked on seeing the reaction. A cynic might think they changed their minds on both occasions, not on principle, but because they were afraid of losing money. You cannot be simultaneously an impartial defender of freedom and speech and a wealthy international witch hunter that publicly vilifies and intimidates small campaigning groups with whom you disagree. As for ‘silencing’ Amnesty, I have neither the power nor the desire to do so. I want them to explain as loudly and extensively as possible why they are using their might and formerly lustrous reputation to attack small non-violent campaigning organisations with legally protected beliefs.

🚨 Erling Haaland refuses to throw Sørloth under the bus after Norway's defeat to England. 🇳🇴 🗣️ Erling Haaland: Alexander Sørloth is a great player and, more importantly, a very good friend of mine. Football is a game of decisions, and sometimes you make the right one, sometimes you don't. People watching from home have time to slow everything down and analyse every angle, but on the pitch you have a split second to make a decision. That's football. I'll never blame him for that moment because we've all been in those situations. Every player has made a decision they wish they could take back. I'm proud of what we've achieved as a team. Reaching the World Cup quarter-finals was something very few people believed we could do before the tournament started. We gave our country something to be proud of. We fought for every badge, every shirt and every supporter who believed in us. Losing to England wasn't because of one pass or one missed opportunity. We created chances throughout the game. We had moments where we could have scored, and they had moments where they punished us. That's football. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you never point fingers at one teammate. We win together, and we lose together. I'll always stand by Alexander, just as I know he'd stand by me. That's what being teammates is all about. We leave this tournament disappointed, but also proud. This is only the beginning for Norway, and we'll come back stronger.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Haaland did not make these statements after the match. Sørloth addressed the incident himself in a post-match interview. vg.no/sport/i/Wv8e5K…

Iran built the most comprehensive civilian surveillance network in the Middle East. Cameras on every street. Facial recognition at universities. License plate readers that automatically fined women for removing their hijab in their own cars. A mobile app called Nazer that let citizens report uncovered women. Drones at beaches. The infrastructure that killed Mahsa Amini in September 2022 and crushed the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising that followed. Israel hacked nearly all of it. According to the Financial Times, citing two people familiar with the matter, nearly all of Tehran’s traffic cameras had been compromised for years. The footage was encrypted and transmitted to servers in Tel Aviv and southern Israel. One camera near Pasteur Street proved especially valuable. It was angled in such a way that Israeli analysts could see where members of Khamenei’s security detail parked their personal cars. Through that single camera angle, Israeli intelligence built files on the bodyguards’ home addresses, work schedules, commuting routes, and which senior officials they were assigned to protect. Unit 8200 used algorithms to process billions of data points into what intelligence officers call a “pattern of life.” A person familiar with the process described it as “an assembly line with a single product: targets.” “We knew Tehran like we know Jerusalem,” an Israeli intelligence official told the Financial Times. “And when you know a place as well as you know the street you grew up on, you notice a single thing that’s out of place.” On February 28, when intelligence confirmed Khamenei would attend a morning meeting at his compound near Pasteur Street, the operation entered its final phase. Israel disrupted approximately 12 cellular antennas in the area, causing phones to appear “busy” when dialed. Khamenei’s security detail could not receive warnings. Israeli aircraft fired 30 precision munitions. The strike was carried out in daylight for tactical surprise. Former Mossad official Sima Shine told the Financial Times that Israel’s strategic focus on Iran dates to a 2001 directive from Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Twenty-five years of patient intelligence collection culminated in a single Saturday morning. Here is the part that should stay with you. The cameras Israel hacked were not military installations. They were the regime’s domestic surveillance apparatus. The same cameras that tracked women who removed their hijab. The same system that sent automated text messages to women in Isfahan accusing them of “improper veiling.” The same infrastructure the Guidance Patrol used to build digital dossiers on Iranian women and girls for the crime of showing their hair. Israel turned the tools of the morality police into the tools of the regime’s destruction. There is a viral claim that after the assassination, Mossad wiped the morality police’s databases on Iranian women. No Tier 1, 2, or 3 source confirms this. It traces to a single unverified social media post. I will not present it as fact. But the verified reality is extraordinary enough. The regime built a surveillance state to control its own women. A foreign intelligence service co-opted that state to kill the man who ordered it built. The cameras that watched women became the cameras that watched Khamenei die. That is poetic justice written in code. open.substack.com/pub/shanak…

For the past few days, the world has been reading with disgust the new information about the Epstein files. To be honest, with the horrors happening to Ukraine, this information about sex crimes, violence and pedophilia brings you down even more. On the other hand, this just confirms my firm belief that us adults must fight for our kids and their safe future. There are people who will always believe that money, status and power give them the right to treat other people like things - to buy them, assault them sexually, torture, kill. This evil must be punished because if it's not, it changes the norm and legitimizes deviant behavior as lifestyle of the elites. Within this logic, civilization retreats to a way of life where slavery was an institution, not a crime: the strong ones take whatever they want, the weak keep silent, and the law protects status, not dignity. Epstein's criminal activity was not just a system of sexual exploitation, it had all the signs of a system to compromise influential people. This system was beneficial to the interests of special services, in particular the Russian ones, namely the FSB, and there are reasons to believe that either Epstein acted as a managed asset, or, at the very least, as an "access point" through which Russians could gain access and materials. Special services have described the "honey trap" as a working method with several key steps: seduction → compromising situation → hidden recording → blackmail/control. If we look at Epstein's circle, compromising behavior was not an accident but a model there: closed meetings, sexual services, access control, dependence and silence. It's not surprising at all to see Russians there: according to calculations, Putin's name is mentioned in 1,056 documents, and Moscow is mentioned over 9,600 times in the published files. First, there's a documented financial trace: NYFDS of the state of new York has recorded in materials regarding a fine of Deutsche Bank that the bank has allowed Epstein's payments to a "Russian model" and a "Russian PR agent", with compliance closing down alerts regarding this as "normal for this client". Second, Epstein had direct contact with Russian special services. According to Dossier Center, Epstein had "close contacts" with Sergey Belyakov, an official described as a graduate of the FSB academy; their relations included practical issues of influence, contacts and problem solving with Russian models and intermediaries. That's exactly what an operational bridge between a criminal compromise platform and state special services looks like: interaction through people with the relevant training and access instead of direct contact. Third, a whole infrastructure of "soft access" of the Russian special services to Epstein existed. In the publications made from the newly released files, Maria Drokova (Masha Bucher), a "talented" woman once kissed by Putin, is mentioned over 1,600 times in the Epstein files. Drokova took part in a Russian "Nashi" ("Ours") youth movement since 2005, and she "kissed Putin" at a youth event in 2009. She was also awarded an "For services to the Fatherland" order in Russia. In 2010, Drokova moved to the United States where she founded a venture company with a $30 million capital. She worked with Epstein as a PR assistant. There are a lot of other episodes that demonstrate the presence of Russian women in Epstein's circle and the "services" he provided for his "friends." Belarusian contact persons were an integral part of the Russian access infrastructure to Epstein; cooperation of Belarus and Russian special services is systemic and close. Epstein got numerous Belarus visas and "definitely attended" the country together with Karina Shuliak, his Belarus partner, including visits to her parents. Two payment orders, signed by Epstein, were mentioned in the media: $10,000 (on January 14, 2013) and $20,000 (October 15, 2013) to an address in Minsk that is the same as the address of the Shuliak family. Epstein's actions were motivated by power and money. He created a system of: a) access to targets; b)being able to keep records; c) exploitation channels. Epstein ran a machine to create compromising information. It existed for years, grew and involved the most influential people in the whole world. Epstein was not just a criminal. He operated a platform that fit perfectly to create compromising information/situations. Considering all the facts, it is quite possible that its owners and architects could have been the Russian special services.

The use of the Oreshnik was a predictably weak Russian gambit and it is easily explained. Russians are absolutely desperate. The situation for them is getting out of control, across the globe. Their allies and their power are disappearing on a huge scale. This strike is another attempt to influence Western decision-makers. Russians lost virtually all control to actively change the situation on the ground, except their complete withdrawal. Of course, they can continue their costly meat waves, but the front is basically static. They will not come anywhere near to a satisfying point in the coming years, and they know that they don’t have the stomach for it. But the Russian stunt must not be unanswered, either. Firing ballistic missiles designed only for nuclear warheads especially so close to the Polish respectively NATO border, demands a proper response. Western militaries must always assume that this kind of projectiles are armed and countermeasures in place. The proper response would for European nations to close all air space in Western Ukraine and deploy air defense assets as well as fighter jets in this sector. This precedence created by Russia not only warrants this action, it would completely neutralize Russian scare tactics by having the exact opposite effect of the Russian intent.

❗Russia is preparing a large-scale provocation with civilian casualties - Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine According to the statement, this operation is comprehensive in nature. Following the so-called "attack on Putin’s residence," the Kremlin has been spreading new fabricated information pretexts to prepare both domestic and international audiences for further escalation. The expected timeframe is shortly before or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar (January 7). A religious site or another location with high symbolic significance - either in Russia or in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine - may be chosen as the site of the provocation. To fabricate evidence of Ukraine’s alleged involvement, the plan reportedly involves using fragments of Western-made drones that would be brought to the scene from the line of contact. Putin’s regime has repeatedly employed this tactic inside Russia, and the same model is now being exported abroad - a practice indirectly confirmed by public statements from senior Russian officials. The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine urges media outlets to question and carefully verify any materials released by the Kremlin and to refrain from spreading Russian disinformation.
