Bengaluru’s citizens, must be at the center. These infrastructure assets (roads, metro lines, public spaces) will be used by us daily. My Memories of Kashmir valley 2001-2004 , Rastriya Rifles. Some memories remain permanently etched in the soul of a soldier. I vividly remember the day Captain Jitesh Bhutani reported to our unit for his induction into Military Intelligence. He was placed directly under my supervision and control, and from the very beginning, he demonstrated the quiet resolve and sharp instincts of a true intelligence officer. At that time, he was tasked with looking after Shopian—arguably the most dangerous and heavily terrorist-infested region of Kashmir. Our intelligence grid was yielding highly effective results, and the terrorist networks grew desperate. To break our momentum, they began a cowardly campaign of actively targeting our intelligence officers. Tragically, Jitesh was targeted and killed in action during this relentless period. The loss hit our unit with devastating force, made even more heartbreaking by the fact that he had been married just one month prior. He left behind a young bride and a life full of promise to defend our nation. Captain Bhutani was a brave, dedicated officer who walked into the hardest sector of the Valley without a moment of hesitation. His ultimate sacrifice in Shopian is a stark reminder of the immense, unseen price paid for the nation's security. His courage and his memory will forever remain alive in the ranks of Military Intelligence. Jai Hind.

Whaaaaaaat? I’m worried someone will pinch me and say this was an April Fool’s prank. Except it isn’t April.. Wow.
India’s U20 women just pulled off a stunning 17–0 win over New Zealand in rugby. In just 15 minutes, they shut out a major rugby-playing nation and put Indian women’s rugby on the map. But who are the young players behind this statement win, and why aren’t more people talking about them? 🚨SHOCKING - FIR against Malabar: A man walked into a Malabar Gold showroom in Bilaspur with a simple request: exchange his old 22-carat HUID-hallmarked bracelet. The staff ran it through their XRF machine. Once. Twice. Three times. Every reading came back the same: 20 carat. They even told him the hallmark didn’t exist. He called the local jeweller who had sold him the bracelet. The jeweller walked in, confirmed the HUID, and asked them to test it again. Same machine. Same bracelet. Same room. This time an employee adjusted something on the machine. Suddenly the reading flipped to 916 - pure 22 carat. The jeweller recorded everything. The Sarafa Association arrived. Police registered an FIR against the showroom manager and the machine operator. The machine and DVR were seized. This wasn’t a small local shop. This was Malabar Gold “the chain that advertises trust, purity, and BIS standards across India”. One bracelet. Two readings. An 8% gap in gold value. And the only thing that changed was who was watching. If a hallmarked piece can magically lose two carats the moment a customer wants to exchange it, and magically regain them the moment someone pushes back, what exactly is the machine testing? Customers don’t walk into Malabar expecting a calibration error that only appears when they’re selling gold. They walk in expecting the purity printed on their receipt. The FIR is real. The readings are on record. The machine was seized. Malabar still hasn’t explained why the same piece of gold needed a “setting” before it became 22 carat again. Until they do, this isn’t a machine glitch. It’s a business model.

The Hebbal 2 km short tunnel is unscientific, serves no purpose and a complete waste of ₹1,350 crores. The Congress Government's unscientific tunnel will cut down 1,128 trees, increase Hebbal Lake flooding risks, disrupts ground water and is designed to further worsen the traffic situation. It is unacceptable that the Government is gambling with infrastructure decisions. The short tunnel entails huge irreversible ecological costs merely to bypass the junction and dump vehicles at a faster rate back onto the same road 2 kms ahead. And when this was pointed out to the Government, instead of dropping the short tunnel it cooked up another unscientifically planned elevated corridor to clear up the traffic mess that will be created by the short tunnel. Hebbal already has the under construction Blue Line, planned Red Line, Orange Line and suburban rail converging here. Together this will make public transport a compelling preferred choice and provide sustainable relief to the traffic congestion. Instead of expediting the metro & suburban rail, the short-sighted Government has dropped the important Veterinary College Red Line station, which would serve 18,000+ riders a day, to accomodate the unscientific Tunnel and Elevated Road. Also, IISc confirmed the well established fact that the tunnel road costs 6X more per passenger than Metro. Even the State Finance Department questioned the need, huge costs, risky design, and the new bottlenecks the short tunnel would inevitably create. Bengaluru needs to focus on expeditiously building an extensive and reliable public transport network solution to effectively and sustainably manage the core traffic issues in the city. BDA, stop the unscientific short tunnel project. The city has already suffered enough with this nonsense. @DULTBangalore @BDAOfficialGok

Bengaluru cannot keep building its way out of a transport crisis. We need public transport, not more free parking. No more free parking in corporate campuses. If a vehicle has no designated parking, the RTO must stop its registration. We must move people, not vehicles elevated corridors and tunnels will only induce more traffic, not solve it. Even after investing in public transport, many corporates still subsidise cars and free parking. That must end. Parking is not a right; it is a costly use of public space. Bengaluru’s own Parking Policy 2.0 recognises that parking must be managed to reduce private-vehicle demand and free road space for buses, cycling and walking. And without strong first- and last-mile connectivity safe footpaths, cycle lanes, feeder buses, autos and Metro integration public transport will remain incomplete. Corporates must be made accountable: charge for parking, fund employee transit, provide shuttle/feeder connectivity, and stop making car ownership the default. Build transport for citizens. Not storage space for cars. @krishnabgowda @PriyankKharge @TVMohandasPai @kiranshaw @manasgond
Enough is enough. We mapped Bengaluru traffic to prove it is a huge civic and health risk that is taking lives and costing us lakhs just to exist here. Some extremely sad data we found: i) In a heart attack every 30 minutes of delay before treatment raises the risk of dying within a year by 7.5%. At 6 pm traffic here can add 25 minutes to an ambulance ride. ii) Bengaluru has the most deaths from civic negligence in India. In August a 32 year old woman was killed when the bike she was on swerved around a pothole. iii) Rush hour takes about a month of working hours from a commuter every year, like an 8% pay cut. Living near the tech parks to avoid it costs ₹1.6 to ₹2.4 lakh more a year in rent. iv) You have access to only 3 out of 10 essential public facilities (schools, hospitals, toilets etc) at 6pm within a 30 minute vicinity. v) The ORR carries more than double the traffic it can handle. Last year a company said it would leave Bellandur over 1.5 hour commutes and another state invited it within a day. vi) The ORR bus lane cut bus trips by about 20 minutes. It was removed in 2022 for metro work and still is not back. This is intolerable for a city that drives so much of India's economy. We cannot let India's Silicon Valley stall. My team has put the most immediate fixes that will help solve this + how delayed/pushed they have been. Tag the people who can fix it: Traffic police or Namma Metro or GBA or the CM's office and let us all be honest and tell us what 6 pm has cost you. #Bengaluru #BengaluruTraffic

Agree absolutely. @Tejasvi_Surya We must retain the character of our heritage cities and avoid repeating Bengaluru’s mistakes. Development is essential, but it must not destroy a city’s culture, climate or heritage. Karnataka needs a sustainable state-wide master plan that promotes integrated satellite townships, protects farmers, and strengthens food, power and water security. Growth must be distributed across multiple cities not concentrated in one so we can address traffic, pollution, water and power stress, rising costs, and declining quality of life. #mysore #dasara #karnataka #bengaluru @DKShivakumar @krishnabgowda @PriyankKharge @RajeevRC_X @PCMohanMP @DrSudhakar_ @ShobhaBJP @TVMohandasPai @kiranshaw @ashwinmahesh @ravichandar @Namma_Bengaluru @NammaBengaluroo @bengalurupost1 @CitizenPulseX @icindngr @WFRising @blsanthosh @HariprasadBK2 @rajeevgowda
My Letter to the People of Mysuru Dear Mysureans, Namaste! Last Sunday, I was in Mysuru to participate in the L’Étape Mysuru cycling event. Congratulations on having such a wonderful cycling event find its home in your beautiful city! The event was fantastic and very well organised. But what struck me most was just how beautiful it is to cycle in Mysuru, inarguably Karnataka’s most beautiful city. The wide roads, massive green trees, cool morning breeze, the challenging climb up Chamundi Hill and the rewarding downhill, the beautiful roads through quaint villages towards Varuna. Every bit was absolutely beautiful. Many fellow cyclists who have cycled extensively abroad remarked that the experience was comparable to, and sometimes even better than, cycling in Western countries. It is precisely for this reason that I am writing to you. Please protect what you have. Do not allow this beautiful city to be destroyed by stupid, unplanned urbanisation that eats up everything beautiful, aesthetic and life-giving about a city. Unfortunately, this has happened to a great extent in Bengaluru. I have four humble requests. First, please do not allow flyovers inside your city. Flyovers are among the ugliest things we can do to a beautiful city. They do not sustainably solve traffic congestion. Instead, they create ugly concrete monsters that destroy the aesthetics and character of a city. If anyone proposes flyovers as a solution to Mysuru’s traffic problems, reject such proposals outright. Do not allow your beautiful boulevards to become concrete jungles. Second, demand a completely underground Metro system for Mysuru. Mysuru will grow. Economic activity will increase, and so will the demand for better urban mobility. Please start planning for this future today. An underground Metro can become the backbone of Mysuru’s public transport while preserving its beauty and aesthetics. Yes, it may be more expensive initially, but the long-term benefits to the city’s character and quality of life will make it worth every rupee. Third, protect your boulevards, trees, parks, lakes and open spaces at all costs. One reason urban life in most Indian cities has become so stressful is the grave shortage of green and open spaces. These are not luxuries. They are essential to our physical and mental well-being. They allow us to slow down, breathe and reconnect with our real home, nature. Mysuru still has so much of this. Please do not allow these treasures to disappear in the name of development. Once lost, they are almost impossible to recreate. Fourth, preserve Mysuru’s walking culture. One of the most heartening things I noticed was how many people still walk long distances. This wonderful culture has almost disappeared from many cities because we have started building cities exclusively for cars, not people. Invest heavily in good footpaths, pedestrian crossings, shaded walking streets and safe public spaces. Make walking the most natural and enjoyable way of moving around Mysuru. Along with an underground Metro and good public transport, this can make Mysuru a model for Indian urban development. Mysuru is not just another city. It is a cultural symbol of Karnataka. Its history, heritage, institutions and contribution to modern, progressive Karnataka make it truly special. Bengaluru has unfortunately made many mistakes in its urbanisation. Mysuru has the opportunity to learn from them rather than repeat them. Development need not come at the cost of beauty. Modernisation need not mean destroying heritage. Economic growth need not mean making cities unliveable. I sincerely hope Mysureans will take an active interest in how their city grows, support good urban planning, oppose bad infrastructure proposals and protect everything that makes Mysuru special. You have inherited one of India’s most beautiful cities. Please ensure that future generations inherit an even more beautiful Mysuru. Love, Tejasvi Surya
