Earlier this morning, the Ebola patient in Nigeria and her contact, who is also her husband, were medically evacuated to Switzerland. The reasons for the evacuation are: ✅ Both the patient and her husband are Swiss citizens. ✅ The patient is clinically stable. The Nigerian medical team successfully managed her through the acute phase of the illness and stabilized her condition. On behalf of WHO and all partners, I warmly congratulate the Government of Nigeria, health workers, clinicians, emergency responders and all those involved in the response. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to what Africa can accomplish when we work together. With the evacuation of the patient and her husband, Nigeria currently has no Ebola cases. However, vigilance remains critical. Nigeria will continue the close follow-up of 52 contacts, while Switzerland will assume responsibility for the continued management of the patient and the follow-up of contact number 53, her husband. Congratulations once again to everyone involved. This is a proud moment demonstrating African expertise, resilience, and leadership in public health. No entanto, é fundamental manter a vigilância.
I Confirm that, with my approval, earlier this morning, the index case for Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease departed Abuja for Switzerland. The index patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious, communicating, and her clinical laboratory test results closing towards baseline. This does not mean she is not still infectious, hence the strict protocols in place. The patient was evacuated along with her spouse who has remained asymptomatic. I thank all the various clinical staff for the high quality care they provided the patient as well as the public health personnel who ensured the evacuation was carried out in line with best public health measures for such evacuations. We will provide further updates later this afternoon after the patient and her spouse lands successfully in their destination. All public health measures are continuing to ensure successful containment of the imported virus. I urge Nigerians to remain vigilant and rely on information from credible sources.

We need to invest heavily in mental health facilities! This one, ordinarily, should be on the Section 3 of MHA!
This one has a family like this and they are watching her? On what grounds are these serious allegations being made? They should pick her up and give credible facts or evidence to substantiate these claims. 😭💔

Three men were caught stealing materials meant for the construction of the Coastal Road 😳 The trailer driver, who owned the place where the materials were hidden was the one who cut and concealed the iron, while the scrap metal dealer was also involved in the plan. The driver claimed it was his first time, but he was told to face the consequences for previous thefts as well

*The Transient of Public Power: A Reminder for Those Who Hold the Keys Today* Power in public office is a rented room, not a freehold. The lease is short. Four years, at most eight. Then the keys are collected, the curtains drawn, and the crowd that once crowded the corridor simply vanishes. Those who once walked as if the state itself bent to their stride discover, almost overnight, that the ground beneath them was never theirs. Look at the record. Diezani Alison-Madueke once controlled the petroleum purse of Africa’s largest oil producer and sat at the head of OPEC. Today she spends her energy in courtrooms, fighting to recover assets long seized while the industry she once dominated has moved on without her name on any door. Abubakar Malami, as Attorney General, was the gate through which justice, contracts, and high-level decisions were said to pass. He is now answering money-laundering charges, properties traced, family members named alongside him. Tunde Sabiu, the private secretary and nephew who ministers reportedly feared to cross, once made access to the President feel like a privilege he dispensed. Buhari’s own daughter has since spoken openly of how much power the position allowed him to accumulate. The gates he controlled no longer open at his command. These are not isolated stories. They are the recurring pattern from Obasanjo through Yar’Adua, Jonathan, and Buhari. Men and women who treated presidential proximity as personal capital, who used the seal of office to delay, to exclude, to extract, or simply to remind others of their own dispensability, later discovered that the capital expired with the administration. The same voices that once competed to praise them now compete to explain why they never truly belonged. The same contractors who queued for signatures now queue elsewhere. The same aides who carried bags and messages now carry them for the next beneficiary. Every government carries a terminal date written into the constitution and into the calendar. The day the new office holder is sworn in, the old phones stop ringing in the old order. Not gradually. Abruptly. The calls that once arrived before dawn with urgent requests, the invitations that filled every evening, the quiet offers of partnership that arrived because someone needed a name or a signature, simply cease. What follows is not only political irrelevance. It is a strange emptiness. Life becomes boring in a way the powerful rarely anticipate. The calendar that was once managed by others is suddenly empty. The people who sang loudest while the resources flowed do not linger to console. They migrate. Loyalty in those circles was never to the person. It was to the purse, the allocation, the contract pipeline, the ability to open or close a door. When that ability ends, so does the loyalty. This is why the wise refuse to play God inside the system. Public office is temporary stewardship, not private dominion. To use the office to freeze the growth of others, to keep files permanently pending, to ensure that only those who bow remain visible, is to build a record that outlives the tenure. Those records do not disappear when the administration ends. They become the material for investigations, for public memory, for the quiet satisfaction of those who were blocked. The same people who once needed a favour later remember who made the favour unnecessarily difficult. History is not kind to the gatekeeper who confused access with ownership. The test is simple and constant. While the phones are still ringing, remember they will one day stop. While the room fills when you enter, remember it will one day empty. While resources flow through your hand, remember the hand will one day be empty. Those who understand this early do not waste the years blocking others. They use the years to open paths, to settle matters cleanly, to leave institutions stronger than they found them, and to keep enough private dignity that the silence which

I watched an interview on #PoliticsToday* on @channelstv, anchored by @seunokin, in which the @OfficialAPCNg National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru (@DrSRJ), called me a “skit maker” and “comedian.” I am presenting here a photograph I took with Ajibola in 1998, when I led the Congress of Progressive Youths (COPY), and we were both in the trenches fighting against military dictatorship. What eventually happened to COPY offered an early indication of what Ajibola has become today, but that is a story for another day. His premise is that because Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT was declared "winner" by @inecnigeria in the deeply flawed 2023 presidential election, those of us who contested against him should somehow be ashamed of losing. Ajibola @DrSRJ came to the University of Lagos after he was expelled from the University of Ilorin in 1992 for student activism. I received him alongside Kunle Adegoke, popularly known as “K-Rad,” who is now a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). We provided them with an enabling environment to apply to re-enter the university, gain admission, and study Law at the University of Lagos @UnilagNigeria. Both eventually graduated with flying colours and went on to accomplish great things. The struggle for justice, democracy, freedom and the preservation of human dignity is neither skit-making nor comedy. Ajibola knows this because he was once part of that struggle and benefited from the solidarity of those who refused to surrender to military tyranny. It is unfortunate that he has become so carried away by the fleeting privileges of his current political position that he now ridicules the very struggle that helped shape his own future. But Ajibola should know better. Political appointments are temporary. Tinubu's regime will come and go, just like the military regimes we confronted in our youth. The principles we fought for in 1994 remain as relevant today as they were then. Our commitment to justice has endured for decades and will outlast his present political appointment. The struggle for freedom is not comedy. What is truly comical is watching yesterday's beneficiaries of resistance become today's defenders of the very oppression they once fought against. #RevolutionNow

My leader, @sowore , is in his own world!
BREAKING: @aacparty Writes Tinubu, Demands Presidential Villa for Campaign Council Inauguration, Feeding and Logistics for 5,000 Supporters The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Tinubu, requesting permission to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council for its Presidential candidate @sowore at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026. In a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the party also demanded food, drinks, and logistical support for 5,000 participants from Nigeria and abroad. The AAC said its request was based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment, citing similar arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party insisted that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination and challenged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness and equal access. #AACOurParty #Sowore2027
