I interrupt your doomscrolling with this important announcement from my grandson:
Everything will be fine.

So we see this more and more nowadays. "Why can you imagine a world with dragons but not with <insert dumb crap>?"
You can imagine anything. The question isn't whether tacos, guns, wheelchairs, or dragons belong in your universe. The question is "will this world be fun?" Part of being fun is having a coherent world. If you know the world's underlying basis, then you know what fits into it.
Being "fantasy" doesn't mean your world needs to be a huge garbage bin where anything can fit in.
Let's take Tolkien's Middle Earth vs. Hogwarts. Is Gandalf a more powerful sorcerer than Dumbledore? Well, Dumbledore objectively casts more spells, which seem more powerful, than what Gandalf does. Gandalf never had a Firestorm lasso or Arresto Momentum. But that's not the point. Middle Earth is a completely different universe than Hogwarts. Dumbledore in Middle Earth would need to follow that universe's rules and would probably be impotent.
I hate the idea of tacos & sushi in D&D games, because to me D&D is foundationally "medieval europe", and so they should be eating faux medieval food. But in my Call of Cthulhu games they can eat all the tacos and sushi they want.
My old boss Lynn Willis used to complain that modern Science Fiction made "every future city seem like a San Diego shopping mall." and there's an appalling amount of truth in that. I don't want my roleplaying or ancient or science fiction worlds to be San Diego shopping malls either.
What say you?

Well this sucks.
I’m going to rant for a few moments and then move on in a positive way.
My three unvarnished thoughts on tonight:
1. Any MAGA voter who sat this out to "prove a point" to the eGOP who now lives under Democrat rule deserves what they are about to experience.
2. Trump knew Iran could cost the midterms. But he did it anyway. Because he knows that the Iranian mullahs are theocratic madmen who are trying to build nuclear weapons so they can use them on the USA and Israel, precipitating Armageddon so the Hidden Imam will arise from a well in Qom and force what’s left of humanity to convert to Shia Islam. So Trump had to choose. Win the midterms or save humanity? He chose wisely. Historians will eventually acknowledge this reality.
3. The PRIMARIES are where you make RINOs pay, not the general. Geez.
So THAT’S all over and it’s on to 2028 to save America. Let’s put this behind us, pull together as patriotic conservative Americans, squash the squabbling, infighting and name calling, and get back to where we need to be.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
No. No it was not.
Onward to 2028…. (I’m dropping the name of my preferred presidential candidate in the morning.)
Well, my little corner of Virginia is sane, at least. Congratulations to @RepMGriffith and @Cline4Virginia

I voted for Bert!
Today is Election Day. Mark Warner ducked the debate, keeps trading stocks while writing the rules, and promised two terms in 1996. He’s now running for a fourth.
Virginians deserve better than a career politician who won’t show up, won’t stop trading, and won’t keep his word. I will ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks. Fire Warner. Vote Bert.

A prayer for election day:
Father in heaven, in Christ's name we pray please: save this nation from her sins. Let not abomination be enshrined in our laws.
May your angels protect us from the wickedness and snares of the enemy.
And from the fury of the paynim preserve us.

Vote.
Please.
We all need to show up.
Vote.
Without us, there is no election.
It becomes an installation.
So vote.
Make time.
Make a plan.
And vote.
Our country depends on it. 🇺🇸

I am a loyal Democrat. I served on the National Security Council for President Clinton, at the State Department for Madeleine Albright, and in the US Senate for Joe Biden. Our party should be unified and clear in denouncing Abdul El Sayed for the anti-American bigot he is.

I hope my fellow conservatives realize that if, against all odds, Mike Rogers pulls this off, he will vote like a moderate, probably annoy us a lot, and that will be 100% fine

If only there was some way to see what it would have looked like if Chiang had won. Some island where we could have run a natural experiment. Personally I think they would have become a first world economic powerhouse of critical importance in AI & advanced technology.
