I'm torn about whether I should pour money into SO2 balloons.
Also curious what's stopping a Musk, Besos, or even a @beffjezos from raising some money and saying "lfg, try to stop me".
Oh my god I just tried to link an MCP to the @ChatGPT app for the first time.
This UX is completely unacceptable.
- Please don't make plugin creation be chat only, I have no idea what questions/inputs I can even ask it
- Authenticating is a maze to figure out
The fuk
First time user feedback for @posthog: your onboarding wizard is WAY too long and completely unskippable.
I just wanted to create an account and get the project/api keys I need.
The amount of "skip" and random "select things" boxes made the whole process frustrating.
The @AnthropicAI/@claudeai cyber filter is so frustratingly out of control.
Asking it to help secure something makes it think I'm trying to hack the pentagon or something.
This BS causes devs to either:
- not work on security
- use unhinged abliterated models
Either way, dumb
Honestly given the balance of effort/effect/incentives:
- 50% it's a teenager with Claude
- 50% it's a govt that needs the fear thermometer of the populace higher
Low chance it's an actual agressor. It would be the dumbest attack ever.
Attacking non-critical consumer-facing infrastructure - like grocery stores - with pre-warned and limited scope cyber attacks is the best way to convince your population they need to harden their society.
It's really classic Ender's Game - you only get to use the weapon once, it has to destroy the enemy completely.
Real catastrophe is not spoiling meat, its multi-megawatt turbines that go beyond safe RPM, critical valves in chemical refining that report the wrong position, air traffic control networks.
Destruction of hard infrastructure that is replaceable on a year-to-decade timescale. Like a water treatment plant, transformer station, airport, and so on.
Food is the most high throughput thing in our society besides gasoline. It has a residency time of a few days on shelves, and so any total loss of inventory is recoverable on the scale of a week.

We're excited to introduce @Gratis_AI.
Run opensource AI models locally on your machine for free, with no setup required.
Gratis runs models from @huggingface directly in a browser tab or desktop app for more power, making every chat private by design.
TPN builds small, capable models; gratis runs them.

Hey @nickaturley is there talk of bringing Custom GPTs back?
Plugins lack live-audio and personality sandboxing.
E.g. With plugins I cannot "call" my Albanian language tutor anymore
The current chat-based plugin setup is also not my fave. It obfuscates configurable properties.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we have managed to get the @EUCouncil ' EU Inc files. The ones that matter. The ones where we see the position of Each Member state: including who pushed the notaries' agenda.
Buckle up and Repost. 🍿 Now if you are from those Member States, make some noise.
Directly or through associations, politicians. Enjoy the thread 🧵 1/

This is one of those "when something I know about is in the news I realise they are idiots who know nothing" moments.
What you do with that experience is up to you.
Gell-Mann amnesia is a choice.
Claude started doing weird things for me. After some digging: it keeps an internal auto memory that is garbage.
Turn that shit off.
This is super convenient. You can just generate any quantisations you want (including QAD) and run all sorts of comparisons (KL divergence, benchmarks etc).
New Quantization Service
TPN Bench now offers a full Model Quantization Toolkit, which includes methods like I-matrix and Quantization-Aware Distillation.
Here's how it works:
Users can upload any Hugging Face model and select the quantizations they want;
TPN Bench will generate those quantizations, upload them to a bucket, and then send back the links to those quants. It can also upload them to Hugging Face if given access to it.
Choose between regular quantization, I-matrix, or more advanced techniques like quantization-aware distillation, which require heavy infrastructure that we run for you.
Simplify the whole quantization model pipeline with TPN Bench!

Open source is a software culture thing.
Academia usually doesn't open their data or calculations.
Photographers refuse to give you RAWs.
Basically the default is "if you win that means I lost".
Open source culture is an outlier.

reminder that the wikimedia foundation has nearly $300 million in net assets and spends $191 million a year, of which just $3.5 million goes to internet hosting.
i understand fundraising, but framing a $2.75 donation as necessary to survive rising hardware costs is a bit much.
November is going to be so much fun. I can barely believe the amount of stuff we're shipping.
Next month is going to be a big one for TPN 👀
We’ve been building something that we want to share with the world.

At this point the whole EU Inc negotiations are so lost in the details that everyone forgot the main goal: Creating a standard.
Basically, allow founders to raise quickly globally and use stock options to hire competitively.
Let’s say it quite clearly:
1) If EU Inc isn’t providing a standard it’s useless. We already got 30+ legal entities in Europe. Experienced founders use Delaware Inc already because of this.
2) If EU Inc doesn’t fix stock options Delaware Inc is still the better option.
I understand the there are complex details and people are worried about loopholes. But you can’t lose the actual goal of it because of it.
An EU Inc that doesn't provide a standard is pointless. Nobody will care about intricacies of compromises reached in political committees if the market can't use the outcome.
If you are in contact with your political leaders (prime ministers, presidents, et al) please reach out to them. Or to founders/investors in your network who might have that access.
