Soon, transphobes will become so immersed in regressive politics that they will argue for a return to a feudal economic system: the dreaded serf 'n' terf

whenever people are shocked she dated the Swans guy prior to being famous you have to remember Madonna was like an underground arts person who created the idea of what a "modern pop star" looks like completely on her own

The sexuality is obviously an iconic part of the movie, but it's frustrating how often analysis ignores that the sexuality is more of a function than a theme. HAPPYEND is more a contemporary analogue to Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN than something like CHALLENGERS

obviously it’s because there was no marketing, the release was limited, and the reviews were awful, but the trades keep holding their breath for Jenna Ortega to emerge as a major box office draw for young people despite pretty clear signs that thats not going to happen
At a time when the box office is rebounding, and embracing auteur-driven fare (i.e. Christopher Nolan’s near $1.8B grossing The Odyssey) as well as originality (a three-hour documentary about a delusional, scandalous tech titan called You Can See Everything), the star studded Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams starring Klara and the Sun failed to shine with a $701K domestic opening last weekend. The movie, booked at 880 locations, posted a theater average that was less than $800.

There’s nothing wrong with contempt for the medium. Lots of great criticism and great art has been a product of contempt for the medium. You all need to grow up and stop tying your self worth to people giving the proper reverence to a work of fiction.

WHAT are you talking about man
Replying to @rkylesmith
Well, as I said, I've never felt compelled to hunt them down. There were a whole host of "sensitive, woman's stories" being told in the late '60's/early '70s, to my mind purely reflective of a forgotten cultural moment. (The most important takeway IMO is that Neil Young met a wife that way.)
A lot of Cassavetes looks to fall into the same bag for me, hence my lack of interest.

I don’t think it’s intentional so much as “interesting” that The Long Night is bookended by two women losing their virginities, and the most consequential deaths of the battle were Edd (volcel), Jorah (incel), & Berric & Theon (mutilated). I won’t say anything but Freud would.

(guy who has changed his name and ideology and religion every six months): this man has no attachments!
Vance on El-Sayed: We have to understand what happens when our nation gives into these kinds of people with zero attachment to its land or to its history.
What we saw in France, the hatred, the ingratitude, the desire to destroy rather than a desire to build, that exact same cancer that has corrupted El-Sayed.
