As long as influential Kuki extremists are allowed to use the SoO agreement to escape accountability by covertly commanding other armed extremist groups, Manipur will remain trapped in this endless cycle of violence. Certain politicians with vested interests at State and Central level must stop seeing armed groups as useful tools for influencing elections. Arresting the people doing the killing is merely the first step. Sunorok demands the truth, the prosecution of those responsible and credible guarantees that no civilian will again be hunted for earning a livelihood. Three men are dead. Their deaths must not become another statistic. @Bimol_Akoijam @YKhemchandSingh

Patriotism of Bimol Akoijam: Offer sombre heartfelt condolence for a foul-mouth Meitei hater and pathological liar Kuki-Zomi Dr Lianboi calling her "a gentle soul". One ought to know what and where are his priorities.
Deeply saddened to hear the sudden and untimely demise of Dr. Lianboi, a faculty at IP College (DU), someone I have known since her student days. It's a terrible loss! She was such a gentle soul! My deepest condolences to her family members...

The truth be told! The post from Pastor Hanumba presents the 1917–1919 events as a straightforward, heroic “Anglo-Kuki War” of anti-colonial resistance, complete with lengthy glowing quotes from British officers. Much of that framing is misleading or unsupported. 1. The quotes are largely unverifiable: The long passages attributed to Sir Robert Reid, C. Gimson, Major-General G.M. Waterfield, T.C. Hodson, Lt. Col. L.W. Shakespear and others (praising Kuki “organization and unity,” “extraordinary tenacity,” “fierce attachment to their land,” etc.) do not appear in the cited sources or in standard colonial records. The specific book titles listed are not standard historical works by those officers. Real contemporary British accounts describe a serious but localized “Kuki Rebellion” or “Kuki Rising” that was costly to suppress, not the polished tributes circulated in recent social-media posts. 2. How the rebellion actually started: The primary trigger was the British demand for labor corps for World War I. In early 1917, Kuki chiefs (including Chengjapao of Aishan, Khutinthang of Jampi, Pache of Chassad, and Ngullen of Khongjang) refused to supply men. They held councils, took oaths, and resisted house-tax and administrative interference. The burning of Mombi village by Political Agent J.C. Higgins in October 1917 escalated matters into open fighting. This was a real tribal uprising against colonial labor recruitment and policies, but it was not a coordinated “war of independence” by "a unified Kuki nation" against the British Crown in the sense later commemorations claim. 3. Chingakham Sanajaoba’s role as an early instigator: Sanajaoba, a Meitei figure who claimed ties to the Manipur royal family and sought power, played a documented early role in certain areas. He visited villages (including around Ukha and Henglep), told Kukis that British power was ending, promised lower house tax (from Rs 3 to Re 1), and urged action against the Maharaja’s orders. He was involved in the December 1917 raid on the Ithai toll station. In their later mercy petition, the imprisoned Kuki chiefs themselves blamed him. 4. Violence against Naga villages: While fighting the British, Kuki parties also raided neighboring Naga villages (especially Kabui/Rongmei, Chiru, and Tangkhul groups). Colonial reports document: - Early 1918: a series of raids killing 193 people and leaving 26 missing. - May 1918: raids causing nearly 100 killed or missing (examples: Pangang Chingmai Chiru – 21 killed + 5 missing; Khongakhul Kabui – 26 killed + 13 missing). - October 1918: attacks on about 20 Kabui villages under Tindong of Layang, with more than 85 killed. Additional incidents involved head-taking (e.g., Tintong’s raid on Awangkhul taking 30 heads). Some were retaliatory or linked to older feuds, but the scale of killings of non-combatants in Naga villages is recorded in British administrative reports and cannot be dismissed as incidental. 5. Surrender and petitions blaming Sanajaoba: By early 1919 the British had burned roughly 126 villages, destroyed food stocks and livestock, and applied sustained pressure. Leading chiefs surrendered or were captured. On 18 May 1919, 12 Kuki prisoners in Kohima Jail (including Chengjapao, Khutinthang, Pache, Ngulkhup, Tintong and others) submitted a petition to the Commissioner of the Surma Valley and Hill Districts. They wrote that they had “wrongfully fought with the Government on account of deceitful conduct of Manipuri Limbus and Ching Kamba Sana Chauba Singh,” that they had come to make peace themselves, and that they requested mercy and promised never to do it again. Most were released after about three years under a policy of clemency; the wider population faced fines and forced labor. The events from 1917 to 1919 were an authentic Kuki revolt against British labour recruitment and colonial rule. They included major military actions and authentic resistance. The social-media version from Kuki "thibaikon" exaggerates the size and cohesion of a “war,” fabricates or greatly embellishes British officer quotes, minimises or overlooks recorded attacks on "Naga villages", and "leaves out the chiefs’ post-defeat petitions that accused "Sanajaoba" and pleaded for mercy". The chiefs’ own words and colonial records reveal a more complex story than what the commemorative graphics and selective quotes imply.
Today marks the 107th anniversary of the #AngloKukiWar, a powerful testament to the courage and resilience of the Kuki people who fought fiercely for their land and freedom against colonial rule (1917-1919). We honor the legacy of our ancestors and their enduring spirit of resistance Here are some quotes from British officers and officials who were directly involved in the Anglo-Kuki War (1917–1919): 1. Sir Robert Reid (Governor of Assam) “The Kukis displayed a remarkable degree of organization and unity in their resistance. It was a far more difficult and prolonged conflict than we had anticipated, and it forced us to deploy significant resources in what was a remote region of the Empire.” (Source: Robert Reid, History of the Frontier Areas Bordering on Assam (1942) “The rising of the Kuki tribes was a grave concern, and it required not only the deployment of military force but also changes in our administrative approach towards the hill tribes.” (Source: Robert Reid, The Lushai Hills: A British Frontier Policy in Eastern Bengal (1943)) 2. C. Gimson (Political Agent in Manipur) “The Kukis, whom we had hitherto considered a quiet and backward tribe, rose against us with a fierceness that was unexpected. Their determination to resist British authority, especially in the face of our military superiority, was astounding.” (Source: C. Gimson, The Kuki Rebellion of 1917-1919 (1919)) “It became apparent that the Kukis were unwilling to submit to our authority, particularly with the demands we placed upon them for labor. This defiance was deeply rooted in their traditional independence.” (Source: C. Gimson, Report on the Hill Tribes of Manipur (1920) 3. Major-General G.M. Waterfield (Commanding Officer, Assam Rifles) “The Kukis were no ordinary tribesmen; they fought with an extraordinary tenacity and skill. Their use of guerilla tactics in the rugged terrain made it exceedingly difficult to subdue them.” (Source: G.M. Waterfield, The Anglo-Kuki Operations: A Military Account (1921)) “It was a war of attrition, where the Kukis used their intimate knowledge of the terrain to harass our forces constantly. Despite our technological superiority, we found it challenging to completely stamp out their resistance.” (Source: Major-General Waterfield, Official Report on Kuki Operations (1920) 4. T.C. Hodson (Commissioner of Assam) “The Kuki rebellion posed a unique challenge in the northeast frontier. Their refusal to provide labor for the war effort was not merely a question of disobedience; it was a deeply held principle of independence, which they were willing to defend with their lives.” (Source: T.C. Hodson, The Naga Hills and the Kuki Rebellion (1920)) “Our failure to anticipate the depth of resentment among the Kuki tribes was a costly oversight. Their rebellion was an expression of a broader dissatisfaction with our policies in the region.” (Source: T.C. Hodson, Memoirs on the Kuki Tribes of Assam (1920) 5. Lt. Colonel L. W. Shakespear (Officer in Charge of the Military Operations) “The Kukis had a strong tradition of self-governance under their chiefs, and our attempts to interfere with this structure by imposing labor demands were bound to be met with resistance. The scale of that resistance, however, took us by surprise.” (Source: L.W. Shakespear, The Lushai-Kuki Operations and the Rebellion (1919)) “We encountered in the Kukis a fierce and independent people. They fought with a tenacity borne of their fierce attachment to their land and their desire to maintain their autonomy.” (Source: Lt. Colonel L.W. Shakespear, Official Military Dispatch on Kuki Rebellion (1919)) 6. Sir Nicholas Dodd Beatson-Bell (Chief Commissioner of Assam) “The rising of the Kuki tribes was not merely an insurrection but a well-coordinated defiance of British authority in the hills. The military operations against them were prolonged due to their intimate knowledge of the terrain and their guerilla warfare tactics.” (Source: Nicholas Dodd Beatson

This is how a narcissist and a braggart @Bimol_Akoijam creates fear in the minds of his gullible and ignorant followers. Of the 543 MPs, not even his boss Rahul Gandhi will speak for Manipur? Has he forgotten what the general mass of Manipur did on 18 June 2001? Manipur state election is in the offing. What bill will be passed by the useless BJP government in the centre to harm Manipur to make itself score 0 in the state? Seeing the protest against census, it just passed a gazette notification stalling the census. Chin ama pallena pungangda ngangehe!

Security forces managed to recover this head yesterday. Various Naga organizations had given a 48-hour deadline to produce the severed head. Concurrently, a team consisting of the CRPF and Manipur Police recovered the head yesterday from the area where the incident took place. As a Meitei, I am appalled by the responses of a section of Meiteis who support Prof. Bimol Akoijam, many of them women, to the sexual-harassment case involving him. Political loyalty must never blind us to the gravity of sexual harassment. A society that takes pride in its culture, heritage, history and traditions should have zero-tolerance for sexual harassements & offences, more so when they arise in a university, where students depend on teachers for grades, guidance, recommendations and academic futures. Those defending him have largely produced noise: allegations of a witch-hunt, leaks, media trials, BJP-RSS conspiracies, and whataboutery about politicians elsewhere. None of this changes the two core facts. ONE: At least 11 women students filed complaints of sexual harassment. TWO: The IC conducted an inquiry and found the allegations to be true. The allegations were serious: sexually suggestive remarks during classes and viva-voce examinations, inappropriate advances at gatherings at his on-campus residence, unwelcome physical contact, and offers of higher marks in exchange for sexual favours. ❗️VERY IMPORTANT FACT HERE: The inquiry was conducted by JNU’s all-women IC that comprises a Presiding Officer, faculty representatives, an officer representative, a staff representative, an external NGO representative, and student representatives from PhD, PG and UG levels. This was not a random, informal body or a personal verdict of the VC; it is the institutional body created by the Executive Council to examine such complaints. It has been reported that the student representatives declined to sign the recommendation. But nuance matters: their dissent was reportedly over the quantum of punishment, not over the truth of the allegations. Disagreement over dismissal does not erase the committee’s finding of misconduct. Now consider the questions his supporters keep raising: ❓️Isn't it a political witch-hunt? Even if true, it would not make an established finding of sexual harassment disappear. ❓️Were not the complaints leaked? A leak may raise a confidentiality issue, but it does not negate the complaints or the inquiry’s findings. ❓️Wasn't there a media trial? Public debate can be unfair, but it does not alter what the Internal Committee found. ❓️Isn't BJP targeting him for raising Manipur issue in Parliament? That may be a political grievance; it is not a defence to sexual harassment. ❓️Aren't there problematic ("nupi da choppa", "nupi lonba") BJP legislators in Manipur? Quite possibly, but other men’s misconduct is not an alibi for his. ❓️Aren't the complainants affiliated to student organisations? Their institutional or political links do not convert sworn allegations and an inquiry finding into nothing. ❓️Was the “sex-for-marks” allegation part of the complaints? Yes, it was among the reported allegations; and even setting it aside, the other findings remain. ❓️Isn't the VC affiliated to the BJP or RSS? Even if she were, the relevant question is whether the inquiry was lawful, evidence-based and properly conducted. ❓️Didn't JNU teachers’ bodies raise procedural concerns? They may do so, and those concerns deserve attention. But procedural criticism is not proof that the complainants lied or that harassment did not occur. Even if oja’s supporters genuinely believe the inquiry was procedurally flawed, they should not respond by attacking the complainants, inventing conspiracy theories, or demanding that an entire society suspend its conscience for the sake of a political narrative. Put yourselves in the place of those young students. Imagine being told that your complaint is merely a political conspiracy; that your trauma is an inconvenience to someone’s electoral narrative; that your credibility must be tested against the party you may or may not support.
MJ Akbar was once a celebrated and well-respected editor and author. He served as a Congress MP and later as a Union minister in the Modi govt. When multiple women accused him of sexual harassment, he issued a statement denying the allegations and questioned the timing of the allegations, asking, “Is there an agenda?” Some BJP leaders and supporters defended him, while prominent party leader Smriti Irani said women speaking out should not be shamed, victimised or mocked, and deserved justice. Akbar later resigned as minister and sued Priya Ramani for defamation. His lawyers questioned why Ramani had waited decades to speak about an alleged 1993 incident. Akbar lost the defamation case; the court acquitted her. The judge observed that “even a man of social status can be a sexual harasser” and that “a woman has the right to put her grievance at any platform of her choice and even after decades.” The lesson isn’t that every allegation is true. It’s that status, reputation and admirers’ loyalty do not make anyone infallible or place them above scrutiny. More importantly, these should never be used to silence, dismiss or demean complainants, or to prejudge the facts. Doing so reflects badly on us as a society and risks causing further harm. Don’t prejudge the allegations, or the accused. Demand facts. Be on the side of truth. Leave political loyalties and emotions out of it.

A true-blue drama queen of a @Bimol_Akoijam! Instead of braying on Facebook hiding behind "beloved Manipur", racism, witch hunt et al to please your andhbhakts, the FIR should have first come from you against JNU VC or media houses when the flame started and judgement by the IC with dismissal in tow was out! It's too late! The case against him is serious. If one reads between the lines, he considers the court to be at his disposal. Court ta yaaroi khangadi, houjik phaoba SM da drama touraga karigi leiriba? Quite a thing to insult his own university where he has been earning his bread and butter since ages because the verdict didn't go as he wanted! If he was aware of racism in JNU since long, why did he cling on to the associate professor job after becoming an MP? Khitang toubaga kapchetpidouna "Ima Manipur", ebudhou pakhangba, leikhidraba ima ipa puthokpa! Why "ready to go to jail" if he is innocent? Didn't he dare his opponents that court will decide? Anyway, no MP from Manipur, however useless they were, were found guilty of sexual harassment! In the same breath as his, "phajana yonthokpire Manipur amasung Meitei bu."

What an embarrassment this man has become! Had he resigned from JNU once he got elected, he would have never faced this day. A professional conman who duped us by joining Congress despite knowing Congress blamed Meiteis for 03 May 2023 violence in Manipur. Like a braying donkey states "15 complainants" of which 3 are gentlemen which translates to 3 gentlemen and 12 ladies. Instead of answering whether the complainants are lying he goes on to brag about himself and seek refuge in "patriotism" towards Manipur. Like they say "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel".
