Halfway through the afternoon is a fine time to look ahead. Tesla's at Cars & Coffee and Lunch Convoy is set for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at VFW Post 2550, 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL 34698.
Cars & Coffee runs from 7:30 AM to 10 AM, and the VFW serves up an amazing breakfast beginning at 8:00 AM. At 9 AM the Teslas gather as one group for the inaugural EV and Tesla debut at the VFW's monthly show, and all types of vehicles are welcome to join the lineup.
Want to see what Full Self Driving (Supervised) really does, or how Actually Smart Summon pulls a car out of its spot and over to its owner? Tesla owners will host free FSD demos and free Actually Smart Summon demos in their own @Tesla vehicles and answer whatever you ask.
This one is family friendly from start to finish. There is a playground for the kids, free garlic dill pickles for everyone, and easy bike access from the Pinellas Trail.
At 10:30 AM the convoy heads toward Honeymoon Island, a beautiful @FLStateParks spot, for lunch at Cricketers British Pub from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Ski & Odin are hosting, and each guest helps support VFW Post 2550. @TeslaFamOrlando, a little over a week is plenty of time to plan the drive west.

Six months in, is Premium worth it
Owner Bromar (@BromarBuilt) posted on Oct 29 an honest take on what the extra $10K for the Premium @cybertruck gets you, six months in, in Phoenix.
The rear screen gets daily use from his nephew and nieces, and his girlfriend uses it on long trips with the dogs. The Vault holds a spare charger and cleaning supplies. Air suspension on auto lifts and lowers on its own.
His verdict: pay it again only if you will really use the differences. He has not towed yet, so the 11,000 lb rating has not mattered for him.

Fridge warm by morning at camp? The @Tesla Model Y Dual Zone Fridge, $595, runs off the trunk 12V outlet, and that outlet shuts off when the car sleeps. Before bed turn on Camp Mode, or Controls then Charging then Keep Accessory Power On, which holds power until about 20 percent battery. Owners say the outlet can trip after days of nonstop use, so pre chill it at home. Out of stock at last check.

Classic Garlic Dill Pickle 🥒

Brine in bulk, mixed cold
1 gallon water
1 gallon vinegar (1/1)
1 cup canning salt
1/2 cup light raw cane sugar
Makes 2 gallons, about 8 quarts of brine. Stir it cold and keep it close while you fill the jars.
Per quart of brine
2 cups water
2 cups vinegar
2 tablespoons canning salt
1 tablespoon light raw cane sugar
Plan on about 2 cups of brine for each packed quart jar, so one quart of brine covers about 2 jars.
Per quart jar
1 large fresh dill sprig (get from produce market)
3 cloves garlic, whole, smashed, or chopped
6 to 10 black peppercorns
A pinch of red pepper flakes
Optional
Mustard seed and bay leaf. I don't usually use them, but they give a classic taste people like, and bay leaves can help keep pickles crunchy.
Always
Cut the blossom (flower bud) end off each cucumber. It has enzymes that can soften pickles.
Steps
1. Mix the cold brine and set it aside.
2. Add the dill, garlic, peppercorns, and red pepper to each clean plastic or glass quart container.
3. Pack the cucumbers, sliced or whole, into the containers.
4. Pour brine over until fully covered.
5. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 days, sampling daily.
Layer tip
In a large container (about 6 quarts), pack wholes on the bottom, then halves, then chunks, then slices on top. Start eating from the top, because the slices are ready first.

Caraway Apple Pickled Red Cabbage
The night before Halloween calls for a jar that glows. Shredded red cabbage and crisp apple matchsticks soak in a warm caraway cider brine and turn a bright magenta overnight. Pile it on sausages, sandwiches, tacos, or a cheese board for sweet, tangy crunch.
Ingredients for one quart jar
1/2 small red cabbage (about 1 pound), cored and shredded thin
1 small tart apple, cored and cut into thin matchsticks
1/4 small red onion, sliced thin
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup water (1/1)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons canning salt
1 teaspoon caraway seed
1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
1 bay leaf
2 whole cloves

Pack Tight, Pour Warm
Method
1. Toss the cabbage, apple, and red onion together in a large bowl.
2. Bring the vinegar, water, sugar, salt, caraway, peppercorns, bay leaf, and cloves to a simmer, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve.
3. Let the brine cool for about 10 minutes so it is warm, not boiling.
4. Pack the cabbage mix firmly into a clean quart jar, pressing it down as you go.
5. Pour the warm brine over until everything is covered, press out any air bubbles, let it cool, then cap and refrigerate.
Storage
It is ready in 1 day and tastes best after 3 days, when the color turns deep magenta. Keep it refrigerated and eat within about 3 weeks.

Spooky Pickle Tricks: Cucumber Skulls

1. Cut round cucumber slices about 1/4 inch thick.
2. Cut three small notches along the bottom edge for the jaw and teeth.
3. Punch two round eye holes in the upper half with a reusable metal straw.
4. Serve in a white bowl with a dressing of black sesame seeds and red pepper flakes.
Tip: use firm Kirby or English cucumbers, pat dry, chill before serving. Works with pickle chips too.
