I today attended the *EAC YOUTH FELLOWSHIP COHORT IV– SOFT LAUNCH* 📍📍Day One Insights | 8 Countries, One Vision. Day One 📍of the EAC Youth Fellowship Soft Launch brought together fellows from 8 EAC countries. We started with a simple yet powerful icebreaker – sharing our name, country, and how we are feeling which definately set the tone for openness, connection, and unity. It was an honour listening to representatives from the Steering Committee of the EAC Youth Fellowship, comprising JMK – Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation @jmkikwete , Emerging Leaders Foundation Africa, Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JNLC)@TheJNLC , EAC Secretariat @jumuiya , Danida Fellowship Centre of Denmark which is also the main funding arm of this fellowship, and not forgetting the convenor of this program at MS TCDC @MSTCDC @OneYoungAfrica I also noted Key Remarks from Day One 📍The Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation (JMK Foundation) – Trust Milyango highlighted the amazing work they are doing by transforming lives through collaboration, innovation, and effective and sustainable solutions. 📍Emerging Leaders Foundation Africa – Kimathi @elfafrica1 Shared insights on the critical role of knowledge, skills, opportunities, leadership development, public service, governance and civic engagement, accountability, and social accountability in leadership and governance. 📍Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre @TheJNLC Dr. Suzie Nansozi Mwanga, Executive Director shared how JNLC is transforming and empowering young people through leadership, unity, collaboration, annual symposiums, public lectures, dissemination of knowledge, strategic change, Pan-African consciousness, research, and dialogue. 📍MS TCDC @MSTCDC, we also had the opportunity to listen to the team from MS TCDC, including Julian Shem who will be one of our facilitators, Catherine Mossi, and Nawa from Leadership and Governance Academy. Nawa equally gave us a preamble on the state of leadership in the EAC and Africa and challenged us to be leaders who serve people . 📍Dr. Ana Haule, Executive Director of MS TCDC Posed a thought-provoking question – "What kind of leaders do we choose to become?" Mr. David Nyaribi aka Ambassador of Possibilities Greatly emphasized that adding value to ourselves is the greatest investment we can make. I am extremely excited for this new journey and look forward to personal growth, making a contribution to the community, and sharing the knowledge I will gain from this training. #EACYouthFellowship #CohortIV #YouthInPolitics #LeadershipAndGovernance

#reposte CELEBRATING WORLD FOOD SECURITY DAY on the theme: "Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future" Food is Peace! Peace is Food!! On 16th October every year, the world marks World Food Day, commemorating the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. This day is far more than a celebration of food - it is a global reminder that peace cannot exist on an empty stomach, and that food security is the foundation of global peace. Food security, as defined by FAO, exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. It rests on four critical pillars: Availability, Access, Utilization, and Stability. In 2026, all four pillars are under unprecedented strain. Why Food Security is the Bedrock of Global Peace: History teaches that an army marches on its stomach. Today, entire nations march or fall based on food security. 1. Hunger Breeds Conflict: When land becomes scarce and water dries up, competition between communities turns violent. Farmer-herder clashes, communal conflicts, and civil unrest across the world are often rooted in food and resource scarcity. 2. Food Insecurity Drives Displacement: In 2025 alone, over 120 million people were forcibly displaced, many fleeing not just bullets but hunger and collapsed livelihoods. Hungry families move, and unmanaged migration creates new tensions across borders. 3. Price Shocks Create Political Instability: The food price crises of 2008 and 2022-2024 sparked protests and government collapse in over 30 countries. When bread prices double, social contracts break. 4. Hunger Destroys Human Potential: A malnourished child cannot learn, a hungry worker cannot produce, and a food-insecure society cannot build lasting peace. Human security collapses without food. Food security is therefore not just an agricultural issue. It is a security issue, a peacebuilding issue, and an intelligence issue. The most accurate early warning system for conflict is often the price of food in local markets. From Conflict to Cooperation - Pathways to Peace through Food: If hunger is a driver of war, food can be an instrument of peace. Food as Diplomacy: Joint water and agricultural projects have brought rival communities to the negotiating table. Resilient Food Systems as Deterrence: Nations with stable, diverse food systems are less vulnerable to coercion and blackmail through grain blockades. Humanitarian Food Assistance as Peacekeeping: WFP's operations in conflict zones do more than feed people; they stabilize communities and prevent recruitment by extremist groups. What Global Citizenship Requires on This Day For Governments and International Organizations: Invest in early warning, invest in resilient food systems, protect humanitarian corridors, and honor commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2 - Zero Hunger. For the Private Sector: Transform food systems by reducing waste - one-third of all food produced is lost or wasted - and investing in sustainable value chains. For All of Us: Recognize our role. Reduce food waste at home, support sustainable consumption, respect the farmer who feeds us, and advocate for the right to food. Conclusion: World Food Security Day 2026 calls the world to a simple truth: There can be no global peace without food security, and no food security without global peace. The two are inseparable. In an age of artificial intelligence, nuclear weapons, and space exploration, humanity still depends on the humble seed, the soil, and the farmer's hand. To secure food is to secure life. To secure life is to secure peace. Let us commit to a world where no one goes to bed hungry, where food is not weaponized, and where our shared harvest becomes our shared peace. Happy World Food Security Day! Food is Peace. Peace is Food. globalpeace.me/happy-world-f…

Happy International Day of Peace. As we mark 21st September, we are reminded this year to "Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day." This is a reminder that peace is not just the absence of war but the daily investment in justice, dialogue and inclusion. 🔷Peace for women and youth and every human being very important. In 2000, #UNSecurityCouncilResolution1325 on Women, Peace and Security recognized that women are disproportionately affected by conflict yet must be at the centre as negotiators, peacekeepers and decision-makers, not just as victims. When 1325 is not respected, women continue to bear the heaviest cost of war from sexual and gender-based violence to displacement and loss of livelihoods – while peace agreements become fragile and unsustainable because they exclude the insights and needs of half the population. 🔷The #AfricanUnionAgenda2063 #Aspiration4 @_AfricanUnion @AUC_PAPS envisions a peaceful and secure Africa and called for silencing the guns and building continental mechanisms for conflict prevention and peacebuilding. 🔷#UNSecurityCouncilResolution2250 on #YouthPeaceandSecurity recognized youth as partners in peace under #fivepillars of participation, protection, prevention, partnership and disengagement and reintegration. When 2250 is not implemented youth are treated as a threat rather than a resource, fueling radicalization, unemployment and exclusion from decision-making, and wasting the demographic dividend that could sustain peace. The second framework is SDG 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, which affirms that lasting peace requires accountable institutions, access to justice for all and inclusive decision-making. 🔷Peace must therefore be taken as a priority, because when peace fails, everything is at stake. All frame of reference works on peace must be implemented and followed. @GlobalPeace256 @GlobalPeaceHQ @NimdUganda @WeAreNIMD @GirlsMentrship @PrimusBahiigi @ACCORD_online @NpcypD @TheJNLC

This is amazing @TrassyleenO 👏🎊🎉 Cheers to our very own 🥂 for this representation 💯 Onwards and upwards 🙏
Honoured to have been invited as a guest speaker by Tuboreshe Pamoja @TuboreshePamoja a kenyan based Organisation to celebrate the International Democracy Day. Democracy Beyond the Ballot ,and understanding whether Youth Voices really Count. The space was joined by #1000people via a ticktok live. Earlier this week we celebrated the International Democracy day and this conversation was a continuation to understand Democracy beyond the ballot. Am Greatful for the invitation and being able to shape discussions on real issues of youth and women and how leadership and governance can be used as an avenue to address the actual challenges with young people and women at the center. This also amplifies my campaign on how we can use social media as a tool to shape youth friendly policies, narratives ,and solutions for social economic transformation.
