The AI Health Camera (world first) is so dope! It detects my calories, macros.. pretty much everything and I’ve been verifying via nutritional facts and information online. Pretty freaking accurate. Everything about your health in one place — and AI coach Kit sounds so wild speaking German and Spanish 😹 If you would like a free week of AI me, my code KitVoss apps.apple.com/us/app/gyrosc…

The future of the human race depends on keeping these Effective Altruists as far away from control over AI as possible. They repeatedly tell you they care less about you than insects, and you should believe them.

Replying to @SenSchumer
@SenSchumer, the most effective guardrails on AI will not come primarily from regulation at the local, state, national, or even global level. They will come from managing the economics of AI development. AI companies respond to incentives. Investors respond to returns. Developers respond to competitive pressures. If those economic incentives reward speed, scale, market dominance, and capability regardless of broader social consequences, regulation will always be chasing the technology from behind. The first question therefore should be: How do we align the economics of AI development with society’s interests? Get the incentives right and regulation becomes an important supporting mechanism. Get the incentives wrong and no amount of rules, testing regimes, or government oversight will adequately contain the risks. AI safety is ultimately an economic design problem as much as a technological or regulatory one.

There’s an impulse in American politics, a set of tactics and drives that has proven very effective at extinguishing speech. We once called it McCarthyism. Another time we called it Wokeism. One day in the future we will have some name for the campaign that is underway against all people who believe in serious AI risks, and whatever that name ends up being, it will be yet another name for that old impulse. It’s an ugly one. I recommend you avoid being a part of it, no matter your politics or your thoughts on AI. I suggest you think for yourself. You really do want to worry about the state projecting too much power over AI, centralizing control or robbing us of the unambiguous benefits of the technology in the name of preserving the economic status quo. But there really are grave risks from AI that go beyond what any other mass-market digital technology has posed. These two things aren’t totalizing worldviews that exist in conflict. You don’t need to believe only one or the other. *Both of them are true.* The question should not be “which facts should we ignore, and which should we pay attention to?” The question is: “how do we walk the narrow corridor between all these realities which are in deep tension with one another?” You should think for yourself. Assess other people’s work for yourself rather than allowing powerful people to put a label on them for you. As someone who has been a journey that has taken me to different perceived “sides” of the AI debate, believe me: You’ll find that there are bright and thoughtful people on both the “safety” and “accelerate” sides, and you will also find that both sides have their imbeciles, charlatans, and, occasionally, true cretins. It’s your job to figure out what’s what. Don’t let other people think for you. Don’t be played a fool.

I don't think my perspective is particularly important on this topic, but I find the current AI conversations utterly embarrassing. At best, it is a reflection of what has happened after the state eroded the standards of education over the past century. I genuinely think our descendants will read X from this era and laugh at us

I had a fascinating conversation with @derekchollet, who runs JPMorgan’s Center for Geopolitics. We discuss energy, China, and the Iran war, among other topics. Read it @arenamag.
Replying to @derekchollet
@derekchollet says that at JPMorganChase, geopolitics is everyone's second or third job: senior people track it on top of the work they were hired to do. So the bank created a Center for Geopolitics and staffed it with former senior policymakers. Chollet — a Pentagon, State Department, and White House veteran — runs it. For my tech friends who have been asking me ⏬ also companies who dgaf about the political calendar or the “stage-management” are forced to be creative (see disannexation deal in Brownsville). Corporate plays like this don't serve the cause or soften the monster image imo
Data centers are one of the biggest voter issues heading into the 2026 midterms. @HenriettaVeda says it's a tale of two times, pre-election and post-election, and lays out why this debate is likely to stay in focus well into 2028. Great segment with @FerroTV and @daniburgz.

The window to shore-up our chip export controls and secure US AI leadership is closing rapidly. We're calling on House leadership to include these three critical reforms in the FY27 NDAA: - The Chip Security Act - The MATCH Act - AI Overwatch Act
🟡 NEW: Right-leaning groups — American Compass, the Foundation for American Innovation, and Heritage Action — are calling on House leaders to pass a trio of measures designed to constrain China’s access to artificial intelligence chips and manufacturing equipment. semafor.com/article/08/27/20…

Most still don’t realize how poor Europe became relative to the USA. Another huge gap will be created in the next decade between countries that are allowing innovation / creative destruction, and others who are sclerotic, over-regulated, and anti-success.
Under Secretary @jacobhelberg: Pax Silica countries [that embrace AI] are growing around 4% annually, compared to G7 countries somewhere in the zone of 1%. If you extrapolate that for a decade, it's likely to lead to a very different map ten years from now. @JTLonsdale: That means you're doubling growth in 18 years versus 70 years... One generation of this and you're a totally different country -- which is what happened to Europe by the way. They don't realize they're poorer than all our states because we've been growing so much faster.

For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter. AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models. images.nvidia.com/pdf/Open-W…
