which wouldn’t make any sense, or Gurman doesn’t understand how important of a distinction there is between regular single layer OLED and a proper Dual Layer Tandem OLED.
“Just” OLED can end up being disappointing like the 60Hz iPad mini, Tandem OLED definitely won’t be.
I don’t know why but there is something fascinating about Gurman not using the term Tandem OLED here.
It’s the only tech that’s expensive (and good) enough to justify this price change and it’s already available on iPad Pro. Either there is a chance it’s somehow not Tandem OLED…

Might start watching her again if she brings this kind of energy to her videos too. I am getting tired of reacting to Marques 😅😅
like the one on iPhone 16 for the exact same considerations. The internet’s desire to see in everything some kind of conspiracy theory is really weird.
Do people truly not understand that basically any screen can be 120Hz?
Apple does not do 120Hz without the efficiency and the VRR capabilities of LTPO, which this screen is not.
There is no “limiting” going on here.
Apple didn’t do 120hz on similar or even better LTPS screens…

I get that but how stupid does one have to be to make it this obvious. He is already letting our random sounds like a deflating balloon (he kinda looks like one too). In what sane world would you be doing this shit a week before the midterms 😆
mechanical part, then it will contribute to wearing out that mechanical part faster.
IP68 is not a magical energy shield.

That’s not how water/ dust resistance works. When your USB C port is wet, no water and dust resistance is gonna allow you to plug in and charge without worry.
It you put a ton of dirt and dust on your device, not bothering to shake it out before you go back to using a complex…

It’s kinda insane how instantly DOA Googlebooks are. What an absolute disaster and a waste of hardware and engineering efforts.
Gurman has gotten some smaller stuff wrong in the recent product release cycles so I still hope that his prediction about the OLED MacBook Pro coexisting with the miniLED M5 Pro and Max versions turns out to be false.
The M6 14” miniLED MBP is enough for a cheaper alternative.
generation of tech users just associate any kind of large display with Touch functionality. It’s much cheaper to just give it to them than lose out on any potential sales. But it’s crazy to me that @JoannaStern is somehow one of the biggest proponents of this weird demand. 🤦♂️
M1 Max MacBook Pro needs one too. There is no UX feature that I cannot do just as well with a great Trackpad, especially since I need to do Keyboard inputs anyway, so my hands are in the fitting position already.
I understand why Apple is giving up on their resistance. The new…
It’s still wrong for Apple to listen to this demand. Touchscreens make no sense ergonomically on a regular laptop. I have used iPads as my primary “PCs” since the A7 iPad and definitely since the A9X iPad Pro. Not once has this reliance on Touchscreens made me think that my…

Kinda. He did try to make the IDF do something against Iran right before the election but the IDF Chief of Staff refused.
OH FUCK NOOOO!
By this logic we would be branding every product randomly by new features. This ages like shit and would require constant and confusing rebranding efforts.
As @mbrkhrdt pointed out to me, MacBook Pro XDR would be such a cool name. As he also pointed out, though, the existing mini-LED models already have a "Liquid Retina XDR display," so that may rule it out?
This is stupid shit. It’s a LTPS panel. Pretty much any decent LTPS panel of the last 5 years CAN do 120hz but that doesn’t mean it’s up to Apple’s standards of ProMotion, which beyond higher refresh rates has also always meant VARIABLE Refresh Rate, something LTPS sucks at.

This in theory is the “perfect” form factor but the tech just isn’t there yet. And the mechanical parts, especially with how thin they would be (if they are thick there is no point to this), would be incredibly complicated and expensive.
