On-Farm Research personnel in Auburn, NE are using remote sensors to help farmers make informed decisions on nitrogen needs in wheat. Data from these sensors is transformed into a variable-rate nitrogen application using the @NinjaAgLLC platform.

This my friends is fun research. Goal is to look at variety response to N deficiency in cotton (32 cultivars x 3N). Early take home, plants are not dumb, if u give them H2O and N, u give them little reason to explore. 1st of what will be a long string of research. @Mich_Smith20

2 of 2. For accuracy, know what you need and what is provided. Some sources have good calibration and can go in clean. Others need processing or ground truthing. For ex. Groups like @NinjaAgLLC can ground truth a sentinel image or straight process a well calibrated drone/aerial.

Really cool data coming from @Mich_Smith20 delaying #nitrogen app in #sorghum project. She applied N across 11 timings from Pre to 84 days after plant. This image shows there is maturity and physiological impact of N timing. Cool to see N deficiency and delay maturity by time.

Finally getting to dig into wheat data. Protein Progression will be the first study I write up for OSUNPK.com. Here's just a taste. 100 % Pre vs 50/50 split vs 25/75 split. Pretty sure I have said it before but STOP the heavy pre-plant N rates in grain only wheat!
