The funny thing is I started a series based on this exact premise. Where those expelled from the main society desperately try recreating the exact society that hated them.

Largely useless to talk about this. He won't concede any ground because he believes that weird people should be expelled from society. He has based his reality around having become normal, so somebody not fitting in is a massive infraction against his worldview.

When I worked at a Bible camp as staff, they all had a games night and people weren't taking it seriously so the punishment they spontaneously came up with was they had to go to formal night with me. The girl who lost screamed "no" in agony while looking at me.
