$AVZ Minerals Limited (AVZ or Company) provides the following update to its shareholders. Interim Arbitration Funding AVZ has entered into a Funding Agreement with Mr Pei Zhenhua to advance up to US$ 5 million to AVZ, with the first tranche of US$ 2 million already received. The funds are subject to agreed security arrangements and may be used for the purpose of costs incurred in prosecuting the arbitration proceedings before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington (ICSID) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Tribunals. Settlement Discussions AVZ's preferred outcome continues to be a negotiated resolution of the arbitration proceedings which involves the divestment of AVZ's interest in the Manono Project. Any settlement must deliver a reasonable return to AVZ's shareholders and engagement with the various stakeholders is continuing but discussions are protracted due to the geopolitical complexity of the situation. If a settlement cannot be achieved, AVZ, CATH, Mr Pei and DLA Piper are aligned in their commitment to prosecute the arbitration proceedings to their conclusion. There have been no developments in the proceedings which have a material impact on AVZ's prospects of success in the proceedings, including by reason of the suspensions. The current status of the proceedings is summarised below. Title Dispute (ICSID) It will be recalled that AVZ, through its subsidiaries AVZ International Pty Ltd (AVZI) and Green Lithium Holdings Pte Ltd (GLH), together with Dathcom Mining SA (Dathcom), previously commenced arbitration proceedings (ICSID Case No. ARB/23/20) against the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) before ICSID  in relation to the DRC’s failure to procure the grant of an exploitation permit (PE) to Dathcom in respect of the land the subject of PR 13359. AVZ previously obtained a suspension of the ICSID proceedings to facilitate settlement discussions and reduce expenditure. The suspension has been lifted and the arbitration proceedings are now progressing with the DRC pursuing an amended application for security for costs whilst AVZ is pursuing a new application for provisional measures to preserve the status quo.   The Tribunal and the Parties have not yet finalised a new procedural timetable for the merits. Dathcom JV Dispute (ICC) It will be recalled that AVZ, through its subsidiary AVZI, is party to two arbitration proceedings before the ICC, one was brought against La Congolaise d’Exploitation Minière (Cominière), and one which was brought against AVZ by Cominière, Jin Cheng Mining Company (Jin Cheng), a subsidiary of Zijin Mining Limited (Zijin), in relation to alleged breaches of the shareholders’ obligations under the Dathcom joint venture agreement dated 27 January 2017 as amended (Dathcom JVA), and the purported termination of the Dathcom JVA by Cominière which resulted in the transfer of PR 13359 to Cominière and the application to wind-up Dathcom by Dathomir Mining Resources SARLU (Dathomir). AVZ previously obtained a suspension of the ICC case in which it is the claimant, to facilitate settlement discussions and reduce expenditure. The ICC Tribunal has now lifted the suspension and the arbitration proceedings are progressing. Cominière is pursuing an amended application for security for costs. The parties submissions on the merits will follow between October 2026 and April 2027, with a hearing scheduled to be held on 24-28 May 2027. Dathomir Dispute (ICC) It will be recalled that AVZ, through its subsidiary AVZI, previously commenced two ICC arbitration proceedings against Dathomir in relation to Dathomir’s attempts to challenge the sale to AVZI of its 15% shareholding in Dathcom. It will also be recalled that AVZ was successful in the first ICC proceedings which confirmed that upon exercise of the option, AVZI acquired 10% of the shares in Dathcom pursuant to the 2020 share purchase agreement. The second ICC proceedings in respect of ./

The United States celebrates the signing of the concession agreement for the DRC portion of the Lobito Corridor between DFC-backed @motaengil and the DRC government witnessed by President Tshisekedi alongside Angolan President Lourenço. More than just infrastructure, the Lobito Corridor will bring jobs, power, and connectivity to the DRC, as well as secure access to critical minerals that strengthen U.S. supply chains and create American jobs. This is a foundational project under the U.S.-DRC Strategic Partnership Agreement and will catalyze additional transparent U.S. and U.S.-aligned investment into the DRC.

🚨 LITHIUM SUPPLY UPDATE — CHINA A potentially significant development for the lithium market. On 26 Aug 2026, the Yichun Municipal Ecology & Environment Bureau withdrew the proposed acceptance notice for the EIA covering CATL’s Jianxiawo lithium mine. The notice must now be republished after the relevant requirements are checked. Environmental approval remains outstanding and the mine remains shut for now. This is not speculation — the development has been reported by National Business Daily and other Chinese financial media, following earlier Reuters reporting confirming Jianxiawo remained shut with no ore transportation or crushing while environmental approval was pending. Jianxiawo is an important source of Chinese lepidolite lithium, with Reuters previously citing capacity of roughly 46,000 tpa LCE. Important qualification: this does not yet prove a lengthy delay. It may be a procedural issue that CATL resolves relatively quickly. But until the EIA process progresses, anticipated supply from Jianxiawo remains uncertain — another potentially bullish development as the lithium market heads toward 2027.

So despite the headline, meaningful supply may not return until end-2026, and when it does, the EIA points to annual mining scale cut by ~30%. Net negative for supply, positive for prices from here. What's your read?

LOL $CATL's Jianxiawo mine remains non-operational, still in "suspension of production and maintenance". So basically the #lithium market got trolled again and gave CATL a 20-33% discount on all its lithium carbonate inputs for the last couple of months...

🚨 BREAKING: CATL Shuts it Down!! Battery Giant CATL shuts down fake news of slowing demand for lithium batteries. ⚠️ Over 700,000 Tonnes Extra Lithium Supply needed to meet current demands. Core demand message from CATL management Management stated clearly that demand is “exploding.” The company reaffirmed its long-term view of 20–30% compound annual growth for the next five years and indicated that 2026–2027 growth will exceed that average, with next-year growth of around 30% described as solid. Battery production reached 498 GWh in the first half (+60% year-on-year versus ~310 GWh in the prior-year period). Capacity utilization stood at 94.86%. Existing capacity (half-year basis) of roughly 525 GWh annualizes to about 1,050 GWh. Capacity under construction totals 764 GWh. Once completed, total capacity reaches approximately 1,814 GWh—well above prior market expectations of around 1,200 GWh for next year (management guidance implies 1,700–1,900 GWh). This expansion is described as real capital expenditure already being deployed, not slideware. Running near-full utilization while expanding aggressively is presented as the clearest signal of strong, visible orders. Energy-storage revenue recognition cycles have lengthened to 6–12 months after shipment. This accounting lag explains rising inventory and the modest sequential profit growth in Q2; it is not evidence of weaker underlying demand. Gross-margin pressure is framed as structural, with profit per GWh essentially unchanged. Revenue and net profit rose sharply (revenue +54.8% to 276.9 billion yuan; attributable net profit +42% to 43.3 billion yuan), consistent with high operating rates and order strength. Direct lithium demand implications Industry-wide lithium-battery shipments hit 1,496 GWh in the first half, with a full-year central expectation above 3,000 GWh. This maps to lithium-carbonate demand already in the 2.6–3.0 million-ton range. Even assuming only 25% further growth, roughly 700,000 tons of additional annual supply would be required. Upstream realities (Argentine salt-lake projects entering a steadier phase and tighter processing requirements in Africa) are described as mismatched with the scale of battery-side capital spending. CATL’s order book and capacity plans are real, the binding constraint shifts toward lithium supply rather than soft battery demand. #lithium #asx #mining #bess #spodumene #australia $min.ax $pls.ax $ltr.ax $abl $gln.ax #criticalminerals #magnets #rareearths #commodities #gold

China 🇨🇳 produces less Lithium in April due to tightening spodumene feedstock. China produced 103,600 tonnes of #Lithium Carbonate for the month of April, missing targets due to "tight ore supply." #PLS AFR Today - Chanticleer afr.com/chanticleer/lithium-… Lithium comeback kid tests the Trump-oil-debt nexus JPMorgan is taking PLS Group to Wall Street for a $US500 million bond deal as the miner returns to its cash-cow glory. Apr 14, 2026 – 6.27pm JPMorgan’s back doing what it always did best – taking Australian companies to US high-yield investors. And boy, does it have a story to tell. This time, it’s towing lithium comeback kid PLS Group, the old Pilbara Minerals, across the Pacific; a company that is back printing cash, dusting off mothballed mines, preparing to restart dividends and wanting to cap a stunning comeback story with a $US500 million ($704 million) high-yield bond. If PLS gets the cash in this market – and these deals typically launch only when the bankers are 100 per cent confident their client will – it would mark the dawn of a new chapter for the West Perth-based PLS, which went from the penthouse to the outhouse two years ago and is now roaring back to life. It’s all possible because the lithium spodumene price has gone through the roof, which makes PLS one of the ASX’s great cash cows (again). Analysts expect it to report $462 million free cash flow just this half, which is nine times more than in the six months to December 31, and not even comparable to the nearly $2 billion in net cash flow outflows across FY24 and FY25. PLS is responding to the return to good times like any miner would – by spending. It is restarting things and ramping up others. Its Ngungaju plant is due to be back in production by July, this time backed by an offtake agreement with a $1000-a-tonne floor price designed to protect it from the worst of another lithium price downswing (should there be one). Analysts think this year’s free cash flow number could nearly double again to $907 million in FY27, according to Visible Alpha forecasts, and dividends should restart as soon as this half. Barrenjoey’s Glyn Lawcock is calling for 6¢ a share at the year-end results, increasing to 26¢ next financial year. All this good news is borne out in PLS’ share price – the stock is up three times in the past 12 months to close at a record high on Tuesday, taking its market capitalisation to $17.4 billion. It has blown away more than half the short interest in the stock. Now, it wants to use the good times to cash in on debt markets, having not been to US investors for a few years. It is currently funded with equity, longstanding convertibles from good mate Posco and bank debt – a $1 billion revolving credit facility lined up in shakier times in the back half of 2024. The US high-yield bonds could replace some of that bank debt (choc-full of Australian and offshore banks like CBA, NAB, HSBC and ING and their covenants) with longer, lighter and potentially cheaper money. Standard & Poor’s gave it a BB- long-term issuer credit rating ahead of the launch on Tuesday. It wasn’t surprising to hear that JPMorgan’s bankers were there on Monday; taking Australian borrowers such as PLS to the US was its local investment banking unit’s bread-and-butter for years. The Wall Street bigwig still does them – there are just fewer. Borrowers have more funding options in Australia than ever, particularly for anything sub-investment grade. Investment banks have the $A term loan B market up and running, credit funds and life insurers are hungry, Australia’s corporate bond market is slowly evolving, and the domestic and offshore banks are doing more with their balance sheets. The last US high-yield bond deal we wrote about was JPMorgan taking fellow Perth comeback story (and lithium miner) Mineral Resources across the Pacific in September. Market meltdown always a possibility It’s an interesting time to be testing capital markets – a social media post from US President Donald Trump or Iran’s foreign minister could spark a market meltdown at any moment. PLS is also riding the oil shock wave a bit here – investor sentiment towards electric vehicles, batteries and the whole lithium story is much stronger with oil at more than $US95 a barrel. Some investors are likely to ask why PLS needs its $US500 million now – it had about $1 billion cash and plenty of liquidity as of December 31, and this half’s supposed to be much fatter. We expect PLS to say “why not”, which is probably what its deal-hungry bankers have said for a while now. PLS’ trip to the US comes amid a thawing in Australian bond markets – shopping centre owner Scentre Group, Airservices Australia, Stockland and Downer Group were among the issuers to launch deals or announce mandates on Tuesday.

CATL, the world’s biggest battery maker, has vowed to “spare no effort” to electrify parts of the global shipping fleet as it tries to replicate its success with electric vehicles on the high seas. The Chinese group, which controls 37 per cent of the market for EV batteries and 22 per cent for energy storage systems in power grids and data centres, has deployed batteries on about 900 ships, mostly smaller craft operating close to the Chinese coastline, at ports or in rivers. Electrifying parts of the maritime sector is central to Beijing’s broader goals of decarbonisation and reducing reliance on foreign resources. The International Maritime Organization aims to halve global shipping emissions, which account for 3 per cent of total carbon emissions, by 2050. FT 6th April 2026 ft.com/content/06563cf9-e200…

The U.S. has secured access to tantalum reserves in the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of efforts to stabilise the country The agreement targets the Manono region and the Rubaya mining area, both crucial for tantalum, which is used in technologies like smartphones, EVs, and military electronics. This partnership aims to reduce Western dependence on China for critical minerals and is tied to diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between DR Congo and Rwanda. The U.S. sees mineral development as a potential stabilising force in eastern Congo by undermining illegal trafficking networks that finance armed groups.
