Contractors Resume Work on Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road By Sam Mupedziswa MATETEBELAND NORTH Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution and ZANU PF Provincial Chairman, Hon Richard Moyo, has expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for facilitating payments to all eight contractors working on the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road rehabilitation project. Hon Moyo said the payments had enabled the contractors to return to work, raising hopes of significant progress before the onset of the rainy season. “We want to thank President ED Mnangagwa for paying all eight contractors working on the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road. They are all back on the road and working,” he said. He said the contractors were now working to cover substantial distances before the rains begin, adding that the pace of construction was expected to improve following the release of funds. “As we approach the rainy season, they will have covered a long distance. We are now looking forward to seeing significant progress by the Christmas holidays because the contractors have received enough money to push the work forward,” said Hon Moyo. The rehabilitation of the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road is an important infrastructure project expected to improve road safety, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and strengthen connectivity between Bulawayo and communities in Matabeleland North. Hon Moyo also revealed that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon Advocate Felix Tapiwa Mhona, had undertaken to visit the project next week. He said the planned tour would provide an opportunity for provincial leadership and the responsible ministry to assess progress on the ground since the contractors resumed work. “Minister Mhona has promised to come next week so that we conduct a tour and assess the progress being made by the contractors since they started working again,” he said. The renewed activity on the road comes as authorities seek to accelerate infrastructure development and improve transport links ahead of the busy festive season. The progress achieved in the coming weeks will be important in determining how much work can be completed before the rainy season potentially disrupts construction activities. @MinistryofTID @TapiwaMhona1 @TateMavetera @RichardMoyo @zanupf_patriots @zanupfbyoinfo @munyamachacha @ZANUPF_Official @ChinamasaPA @hon_oppah @MthuliNcube01 @TendaiChirau @ChirauMel @marapira_farai @CMNhlansi @treviousnjuzu @ChambatiLevison @SimangalisoDub5 @Jackie33283369 @PhiriDadir50680 @JMarufu80198 @ZimGvt_NDS1

Bulawayo Manufacturing Sector Records US$100 Million Investment, Says Ndhlovu By Sam Mupedziswa BULAWAYO — The manufacturing sector in Bulawayo is estimated to have attracted investments of at least US$100 million between 2025 and 2026, reflecting renewed industrial activity and the emergence of new manufacturing enterprises, Industry and Commerce Minister Hon Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndhlovu has said. Speaking on Friday on the sidelines of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Strategic Planning Review Workshop held at Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo, Minister Ndhlovu said the city was witnessing investment in new sectors, adding that he would visit some of the factories established in the city to assess their progress. “From a manufacturing perspective alone, Bulawayo in 2025 and 2026 would have received not less than US$100 million in investments,” he said. Minister Ndhlovu said Zimbabwe’s manufacturing sector had expanded significantly over the years, with its value increasing from approximately US$3.7 billion in 2018 to US$8.2 billion by the end of 2025. He said the growth had exceeded the Government’s initial projection of US$5 billion by 2025 under the industrial development policy. The minister said the transformation demonstrated the scale of changes taking place in Zimbabwe’s industrial landscape, noting that the manufacturing sector had evolved beyond the traditional industries that previously anchored the economy, particularly iron and steel production. He added that the country’s manufacturing sector was projected to surpass US$12 billion by 2030, while the national economy was expected to exceed US$100 billion. Turning to Bulawayo’s industrial revival, Minister Ndhlovu said the city needed to intensify efforts to rebuild its traditional industrial strengths, particularly in the foundry, iron and steel sectors. He said reconnecting with the city’s industrial heritage would require greater investment and a renewed commitment to expanding manufacturing capacity. “We believe Bulawayo needs to be more aggressive than it is. We are seeing good progress in other areas of the manufacturing sector, and we think Bulawayo can do a little bit better, but there is progress all the same,” he said. The minister’s remarks come as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce continues to assess progress in the manufacturing sector and identify opportunities for industrial expansion, investment promotion and economic growth in line with Zimbabwe’s broader development objectives. @nqo_nn @Min_of_IC @RModiByoSouth @edmnangagwa @2023Focus @ED4TheNation @enkudheni @DumisoJnr22247 @MatamboT97 @cdechitepo002 @ChirauMel @TendaiChirau @SamapendaHenry @CMNhlansi @treviousnjuzu @JeremiahMb65631 @CMufana37063 @CdeTraba @JMarufu80198 @BMhungu3668

Cde Kandishaya Says Sanctions Affect Zimbabwe’s Economic Development By Sam Mupedziswa | Zimfocus ZANU PF Youth League National Deputy Political Commissar Cde Taurai Kandishaya has challenged claims that sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe target individuals only, arguing that their effects extend to the country’s leadership, businesses, trade and economic development. Speaking during a lecture on sanctions, Cde Kandishaya said the inclusion of the President, Vice President, First Lady, senior security officials & businesspeople on sanctions lists demonstrated the extent of the measures. He argued that the restrictions could affect Zimbabwe’s ability to conduct international business & pursue economic development. Cde Kandishaya cited President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Vice President Retired General Dr Constantino Chiwenga and First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa among those he said were on the United States sanctions list. He also mentioned the Minister of Defence & ZANU PF Chairperson, alongside the Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Stephen Mutamba and state security officials. “If there are people saying sanctions are not targeting Zimbabweans, why is the President of Zimbabwe on the sanctions list? The President is the Head of State who is supposed to append his signature to agreements that benefit the country, yet he is on sanctions,” Cde Kandishaya said. He argued that sanctions & related restrictions affected international trade & business transactions, adding that Zimbabweans also faced challenges accessing certain online services & monetising social media platforms. “Sanctions restrict trade, as we know. When a company conducts business with a sanctioned entity, it can face penalties. We should not be misled into believing that sanctions affect individuals only; their effects can extend to the wider economy,” he said. Cde Kandishaya also referred to the reported US$3.5 million penalty imposed on Barclays in connection with sanctions violations, using the example to illustrate the potential consequences for companies conducting transactions that breach applicable sanctions regulations. Turning to the historical background, Cde Kandishaya linked the imposition of sanctions around 2001 to Zimbabwe’s land reform programme, which sought to address colonial-era land ownership imbalances. He argued that although black Zimbabweans constituted the majority of the population, a disproportionate share of fertile agricultural land had historically been controlled by the white minority. He said many black families had been confined to communal & reserve areas, where access to productive land & secure title deeds was limited. Cde Kandishaya maintained that the land reform programme was necessary to achieve economic independence following the attainment of political independence in 1980. He said Zimbabwe needed to exercise control over its land & resources to ensure that the majority of citizens benefited from the country’s economic opportunities. The ZANU PF Youth League official also mentioned newly appointed Minister of Economic Development & Investment Promotion Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei, arguing that his business interests had played a role in addressing fuel shortages through Sakunda Holdings. Cde Kandishaya said Sakunda had helped supply fuel during periods of shortages & argued that sanctions affecting businesses involved in strategic sectors could have wider implications for the economy. He also referred to the inclusion of Dr Tagwirei’s wife on sanctions lists in connection with the business interests he discussed. He further cited businessman Obey Chimuka, associated with the cement industry, arguing that the emergence of indigenous businesses had helped broaden participation in sectors he said had historically been dominated by white-owned companies. @edmnangagwa @KandishayaTaura @ApphiaNyaa @ChirauMel @MoeChanda

Cde Kandishaya also named Hon Owen Ncube, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province and former Minister of State Security, among those he said had been placed under sanctions. “Sanctions are a challenge, but they must not define us,” Cde Kandishaya said, calling on Zimbabweans to understand the history of the restrictive measures and their implications for the country’s development. He urged citizens, particularly young people, to remain focused on economic development and the pursuit of greater national economic self-reliance. @BaShonaBaShona @KandishayaTaura @treviousnjuzu @MatamboT97 @cdechitepo002 @matinyarare @CdeMabhunu @nickmangwana @JMarufu80198 @TembaMliswa

The participants marched from City Hall car park along Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Avenue, proceeding to 8th Street and Robert Mugabe Avenue before returning to the starting point. At the conclusion of the march, leaders representing different affiliates delivered solidarity messages, outlining their positions on the impact of sanctions and the need for Zimbabwe to pursue its development aspirations. I would like to thank you all. All affiliates must feel respected. I am a mother to all of you, not just one affiliate. I am not only a mother to Young Women for ED; I am also a mother to teachers, children of war veterans and everyone gathered here today,” she said. Cde Sibanda said the impact of sanctions should also be considered from the perspective of mothers, who often carry significant responsibilities in providing for their families. She noted that motherhood connects people across different backgrounds and organisations, adding that the effects of economic challenges can be felt within households and communities. “Everyone here came from a mother. When we talk about sanctions, the first person who feels the pain is a mother, because life begins with a mother. We are saying, down with sanctions,” she said. The provincial chairlady’s remarks highlighted her call for unity among party affiliates and recognition of their respective contributions. The gathering brought together members of different groups who used the occasion to express their views on sanctions and Zimbabwe’s economic development, with participants calling for their removal as part of broader efforts to improve livelihoods and advance national development goals. @zanupf_patriots @zanupfbyoinfo @munyamachacha @ZANUPF_Official @2023Focus @edmnangagwa @enkudheni @PhiriDadir50680 @SimangalisoDub5 @Jackie33283369 @ChirauMel @TendaiChirau @marapira_farai @MoeChanda @TateMavetera @ZANUPF19633 @mwacsmed @HonMonica1 @ApphiaNyaa
