All very reasonable except promising no job losses due to obstinance on AI. Of course you should get fired if you refuse to comply with company strategy. That's the job! That's what the money is for! Also, don't apologize, it's never enough for the mob.
Hey everyone, we have heard your concerns about Proton’s AI strategy and culture and after internal discussions, we want to share a few things with you. First, Proton does not install tracking software on employees' laptops to measure how much AI-generated code they produce. This rumor stemmed from a misunderstanding about how MDM software works, and it's not true. Second, our use of AI will never be at the expense of security. In the past year, contrary to what has been alleged, additional layers of security review have been added to meet the threat posed by hostile AIs scanning Proton's open-source code for vulnerabilities. Our code is open source, and its security remains open for all to verify. We want to prove this to you, so in the interest of transparency, we will lift the hood on how we use AI internally at Proton. This includes publicly releasing and open sourcing several of the internal tools that we use, including more advanced versions of Lumo with greater capabilities, which have never been made available outside of the company. We will also publish how code reviews and security reviews at Proton are done, and detail our AI policies, including where AI is permitted, and where it is not, and our rationale. Instead of just being able to see the final open-source code that we produce to verify security, you will also be able to assess how that code was produced. Lastly, we are not re-interviewing our staff about AI usage, and there are no job losses due to AI re-interviews. You can hold us to these commitments. We're aware that we haven't lived up to the high standard you ought to hold us to, and for that we can only apologize, we are sorry.

Qué peligro has evitado reventando un local?

Putting a facade on a prefab concrete block in the former east Berlin. The underlying structure is unaltered; instead, the architects have: - Given it a coat of plaster; - Painted it in varying colours; - Broken up the massing with some clever tricks to the window and roofline detailing. Look closely: the floor height remains continuous and the windows are all in the same places as before. The effect of spontaneity and variety is created by using ornament create patterns of group and emphasis.

Software engineers are supposed to do exactly what we’ve always done. Ensure that the composition and structure of the system is robust and maintainable and that the behavior of the system properly serves the needs of our users. This requires engineering discipline. It need not require detailed reading of the code; just as using compilers does not require detailed reading of the binary.

It took the Reconquista nearly eight hundred years to reclaim Spain. Don't give me that loser talk that it's "too late for Europe." The next generation coming up is unbelievably based. They've seen what suicidal empathy has wrought upon their nations. Never lose faith.

“The minimum wage destroys the best kind of training programs we’ve ever had: on-the-job training.” — Milton Friedman Friedman argues that entry-level jobs do more than provide a paycheck; they also give inexperienced workers a chance to learn practical skills, build a work history, and become more productive over time. When the minimum wage raises the cost of hiring inexperienced workers, employers have less incentive to hire and train them. Such laws therefore hurt the very people they’re intended to help: those who need a first job to gain the skills that can lead to better-paying work later.

Agents can be AI, but agency is human. It is every individual’s responsibility to empower our own agency, with the help of tools. But the North Star should always remain human centered.

Northwestern engineers built a drone that spins its own body 25 times a second to disappear mid-flight. It's called Phantom Twist. No paint. No clear plastic shell. No camouflage. Most of the frame rotates. 25 turns per second. 1,500 per minute. A full turn every 40 milliseconds. The propeller spins the other way. That's the trick. The counter-rotation cancels the spin, and the aircraft holds steady while its body turns into a smear. The eye tracks a bird. It tracks a normal quadcopter. It can't lock onto a shape that redraws itself 25 times a second. You see motion. You see blur. You never see the outline. Every camouflage in history tried to match the background. This one just refuses to hold still.

"AI writes terrible code." Does it work? Yes. Do the tests pass? Yes. Can another AI understand and modify it? Yes. Then I have terrible news about how much your definition of terrible code matter. Humans aren't reading this stuff for much longer, many already stopped.
