All very reasonable except promising no job losses due to obstinance on AI. Of course you should get fired if you refuse to comply with company strategy. That's the job! That's what the money is for! Also, don't apologize, it's never enough for the mob.
Hey everyone, we have heard your concerns about Proton’s AI strategy and culture and after internal discussions, we want to share a few things with you. First, Proton does not install tracking software on employees' laptops to measure how much AI-generated code they produce. This rumor stemmed from a misunderstanding about how MDM software works, and it's not true. Second, our use of AI will never be at the expense of security. In the past year, contrary to what has been alleged, additional layers of security review have been added to meet the threat posed by hostile AIs scanning Proton's open-source code for vulnerabilities. Our code is open source, and its security remains open for all to verify. We want to prove this to you, so in the interest of transparency, we will lift the hood on how we use AI internally at Proton. This includes publicly releasing and open sourcing several of the internal tools that we use, including more advanced versions of Lumo with greater capabilities, which have never been made available outside of the company. We will also publish how code reviews and security reviews at Proton are done, and detail our AI policies, including where AI is permitted, and where it is not, and our rationale. Instead of just being able to see the final open-source code that we produce to verify security, you will also be able to assess how that code was produced. Lastly, we are not re-interviewing our staff about AI usage, and there are no job losses due to AI re-interviews. You can hold us to these commitments. We're aware that we haven't lived up to the high standard you ought to hold us to, and for that we can only apologize, we are sorry.

Qué peligro has evitado reventando un local?

Putting a facade on a prefab concrete block in the former east Berlin. The underlying structure is unaltered; instead, the architects have: - Given it a coat of plaster; - Painted it in varying colours; - Broken up the massing with some clever tricks to the window and roofline detailing. Look closely: the floor height remains continuous and the windows are all in the same places as before. The effect of spontaneity and variety is created by using ornament create patterns of group and emphasis.

Software engineers are supposed to do exactly what we’ve always done. Ensure that the composition and structure of the system is robust and maintainable and that the behavior of the system properly serves the needs of our users. This requires engineering discipline. It need not require detailed reading of the code; just as using compilers does not require detailed reading of the binary.

It took the Reconquista nearly eight hundred years to reclaim Spain. Don't give me that loser talk that it's "too late for Europe." The next generation coming up is unbelievably based. They've seen what suicidal empathy has wrought upon their nations. Never lose faith.

Agents can be AI, but agency is human. It is every individual’s responsibility to empower our own agency, with the help of tools. But the North Star should always remain human centered.

"AI writes terrible code." Does it work? Yes. Do the tests pass? Yes. Can another AI understand and modify it? Yes. Then I have terrible news about how much your definition of terrible code matter. Humans aren't reading this stuff for much longer, many already stopped.

We rewrote the vite dev server in rust. By removing Node.js, we achieved 4x better memory usage and cold starts is 2x faster. This has resulted in our sandboxes acquisition time to go from 14s to 3s (4.6x improvement). When i say we, i mean @raphamorims
Today I am moving OJ to @Lovable I started OJ out of frustration watching Vite eat gigabytes under my agents. Now it's open source at github.com/lovablelabs/oj and rolling out under real Lovable previews. More to be shared soon 🍊

14 years in tech in Barcelona and this is accurate. You pay: - 50% top marginal income tax - 21% VAT on everything you invoice - Social security monthly even at 0 revenue - A wealth tax on top of that You get: - Months of waiting to see a specialist - Trains that break down every week - Paperwork for absolutely everything - A public administration that answers in months Most people I started with left. I have thought about it too. If I were younger I would not think twice.
Every time I hang out with Spanish founders, I come away thinking the same thing: 1/ These people are really smart and work insanely hard. 2/ They’re as good as SF founders. 3/ But dang, they’re playing on VERY HARD mode. Good reminder of how lucky I’ve been with my environment. I really hope a few massive outcomes from the Spanish ecosystem change that. The country needs it.

so apparently people are getting flown out of floods by drones in China now like literally hanging beneath a giant DJI drone and getting flown to dry ground it was during the recent floods in Guangxi, more than 400 drone pilots showed up with over 300 aircraft > most of the drones carried food, water, and medicine into villages that roads and boats couldn’t reach > then rescuers started using the biggest ones to carry people. > one of them was DJI’s FC200, a cargo drone built to lift up to 440 pounds > the drone lowers a cable and harness, the person gets strapped in, and a human pilot flies them out remotely using the live camera feed > one rescue was absolutely insane > a man was stranded on a roof in Liulan village with floodwater rising around him. > the pilot swapped in a full battery, kept a second drone ready as backup, and sent the FC200 over the water. > the man was secured with roughly four wraps of the harness. > then the drone lifted him nearly 150 feet, threaded him past power lines and treetops, and flew him almost 3,000 feet across the flooded village. > he reached dry ground 9 minutes later. > the battery was down to 23%. the obvious question for me is... if a cargo drone can fly someone across a flooded village, how long until a purpose-built passenger version can fly me across a city? i want drone Uber so badly lol imagine opening the app, call a drone, buckle in, and fly straight over traffic
