NHS SPENT 11 MILLION POUNDS TRYING TO PROVE ONE CARDIOLOGIST WAS WRONG
Dr Raj Mattu flagged 5 patients crammed into 4 bed cardiac bays at Walsgrave Hospital in 2001. A 35 year old died because staff could not reach him in time.
He told @BBC. The trust suspended him, reportedly hired private investigators, and sent over 200 complaints about him to @gmcuk. All 200 were rejected.
At the 2016 remedy hearing the trust's barrister called him greedy for wanting the compensation he was already owed, then suggested he retrain as a school teacher on 30,000 pounds a year.
He won. Around 1.22 million pounds, up to 2.5 million once tax was added. The legal fight cost the trust over 11 million in public money.
Patients died. He spoke up. The system spent a decade trying to prove him wrong instead of fixing the ward.

Small businesses have been the workhorse of the UK economy. Labour destroyed over 550000 in its first two years of government.
Hundreds of independent schools closed. Farmers destroyed.
Now the big businesses are failing too. Huge job losses and the debt spiralling out if control.
Not to mention the attacks on our freedom. SM posters jailed. Bank accounts being raided. Judges defending paedophiles not victims. Henry Novak.
All of it in 2 years and 3 months.
If you’re on the right and you’re still repeating parrot fashion “I won’t vote Conservative because of their 14 years” then please wake up. We must not enable our country suffering under this socialist EU run government a moment longer than necessary. Teamwork and unity is our only way out of this nightmare.

This constant self-flagellation needs to stop. It’s divisive and serves no-one.
It’s absolutely right that we acknowledge and remember the full horror of the transatlantic slave trade, but we should also be proud of the role Britain played in ending it.
From 1808 the Royal Navy's West Africa Squadron seized slave ships and freed around 150,000 Africans. And 17,000 of our sailors lost their lives in doing so.
Britain led the way in ending this barbaric practice - facing down opposition from many other countries at the time -so we should be rightly proud of that.
So by all means acknowledge what happened and never ever forget it - but do so honestly, recognising the full story.

So. Sheffield is proposing a motion to put all dogs on lead in “public spaces” and create “dog exclusion areas”.
This is proposed by a Sheffield Cllr called Mark Rusling of Brightside and Shiregreen.
There are “concerns” in the motion that dogs are allowed to “intimidate people”. 👀👀👀
We are a nation of dog lovers. We are a city full of parks and green spaces where dogs have always been both welcome and enjoyed.
What changed @SheffCouncil ?

City of London "muddied the waters over legality of trans policy".
After a warning from the regulator it withdrew its gender identity policy and then carried on with the same approach under a new name.
Now it will have to defend its policy in court.

Winston Churchill took time out in July 1940, with German invasion barges gathering across the Channel, to tell his own Ministry of Food that a vegetable diet would lose the war.
On 14 July, three weeks after France fell, the Prime Minister wrote to Lord Woolton, the department store boss he had kept on as Minister of Food, about what the British were going to eat. He started on the meat ration. Then he turned to the experts. Almost every food faddist he had ever known, he wrote, the nut-eaters and their kind, had died young after a long period of senile decay. The British soldier was far more likely to be right than the scientists. "All he cares about is beef."
Then the line that should be framed in every food ministry in the world. The surest way to lose the war, he told Woolton, was to push the British public onto a diet of milk, oatmeal and potatoes, washed down on special occasions with a little lime juice.
He was writing to a ministry that was about to discover the cartoon vegetable. Potato Pete and Doctor Carrot would soon be selling roots to children from the hoardings, Dig for Victory was turning lawns and parks into allotments, and meat was rationed by price, so the less you could afford the less you got. The planners wanted bread and potatoes to carry the nation. Churchill wanted the nation to have its beef.
He fought the small battles too. In 1941 the ministry proposed calling its new state canteens Communal Feeding Centres. He wrote back that it was an odious expression, suggestive of communism and the workhouse, and renamed them British Restaurants, because everybody associates the word restaurant with a good meal. A man who would stop in the middle of a world war to rescue the word restaurant had his priorities in exactly the right order.
The ministry got its vegetable dinner in the end. That same year the kitchen of the Savoy produced the dish that carried the minister's name: a pastry lid over potatoes, cauliflower, swede and carrots, thickened with oatmeal. Woolton pie was pressed on the country as proof that a family could manage perfectly well without meat. It contained two of the three foods the Prime Minister had named as the way to lose the war, which suggests nobody at the ministry read his memo past the word beef.
The pie is remembered most fondly by people who never had to eat it.
Eighty-one years after that memo the vegetable plate came back, without a war to excuse it. In 2021 Henry Dimbleby, the restaurateur appointed to write Britain's National Food Strategy, asked the country to cut its meat consumption by 30% within ten years. Woolton pie recipes now circulate as the sustainable option, the meatless plate has become the policy, and it is the beef that has to justify itself.
The man who actually had to win the war, with the U-boats sinking the convoys and the Luftwaffe over the Channel, looked at the evidence and concluded that a nation fed on oats and potatoes would lose its nerve before it lost a battle.
With the invasion barges in sight, the Prime Minister put in writing that oatmeal and potatoes were the surest way to lose a war. They are now sold as the surest way to save the planet.

I’m wondering if Mr Burnham may like to demands answers as to why so many schools have closed under labours tenure? If he can do it for Poundland. And no - they weren’t all about to collapse anyway and no, more did not open than close if that saves anyone an attempt at a chippy answer. Remember when writing, children lost education, adults lost jobs, communities lost income and the treasury lost income, state lost budgets and gained students.

One senior MP said: “The anger is actually amongst poorer people on lower incomes. It’s a Red Wall seat situation rather than the leafy Surrey suburbs.”
Cut welfare spending, Labour MPs tell Burnham.

This case matters to @parkrunUK.
@parkrun separates results into male and female — but calls these “gendered” categories.
You can’t have a meaningful female category while allowing males to self-ID into it.
Wishing @SexMattersOrg every success with this important case.

Labour is 100% responsible for the Poundland problem. And make no mistake, its not just affecting them, its affecting every single retailer running fine margins and ultimately it hurts you, the buyer as your costs rise. Min wages have also destroyed youth opportunities.
