Just listening to the Q3 earnings call. I came to the conclusion that I don't own enough $prl.to. it sounds like UK division will see meaningful bottom line growth in 2027. There is a lot to be excited about in the coming quarters and years

This is worth the read.
Most have forgotten the name Kara Hultgreen, Call-Sign "Revlon". The first female F-14 pilot, who was passed through Navy flight school because she was female and it was time to break down gender barriers. She got qualified (with countless second chances, that would have caused male students to wash-out)...and she killed herself and her RIO in a ramp-strike...she flew the jet into the back of the aircraft carrier at night. Aviation doesn't care about your feelings. It is a dangerous business, and aerodynamics and physics are undefeated. The lessons are cold, and written in blood. Qualifications are written in paper, but failure to meet them should be identified prior to the grave. I got my wings well over 20 years ago, and I've survived my share of close calls. I've buried friends who were much better pilots than I ever was, but their aircraft decided to kill them and their crews late at night. The aviation industry has a problem with female pilots. It's impossible to ignore the mishap statistics and not realize that a push for "diversity" has made aviation less safe. The Military wrote the book on how to make these mistakes, and we are not immune to the problem. You don't have to be around military flight schools for long to know of female students who use "relations" for better grades or 2nd chances. Commanders are terrified of failing female students or not granting qualifications because they don't want an EO complaint. I have served with exceptional female pilots. One of the best aviators I ever served with went on to be a squadron CO and made O6. Those that didn't know her well, would ask "Is she really that good?" The answer is "yes", but you also have to ask..because we all know the standard is lower for female pilots. The question isn't "Can females be good pilots?" We know the answer to that question is yes. The question we need to figure out is "Why are so many female pilots involved in fatal mishaps?" I see this 20 year old LeerJet 2P, and I hear her radio calls from prior to the aircraft being in distress. She sounds like my teenage daughter talking to a friend on the phone. A student pilot would get a failing grade for those radio calls in any level of military flight training. In civilian flight schools, it's even worse. Nobody flunks out of civilian flight schools as long as you keep paying for the flights and the training. Eventually, you pass. With the pilot shortage, someone will hire you. The 7 passengers in that Leer 60 didn't need a pretty-face with a back-story of someone who could fly before they could drive. They needed someone who could properly check METAR/TAFs, get PIREPS for WX and stay ahead of the aircraft. They needed someone with the ORM experience to be divert for weather when they couldn't safely proceed. They needed someone that knew it was time to apologize for a delay on the ground somewhere short of the Bahamas, instead of flying into icing and getting everyone killed. My 13 year old daughter is my heart. She is my pride and joy, and she loves her dad and thinks she might want to do the family business of flying for the Navy. The problem is, she's gorgeous and the system is set up to pass her even if she doesn't meet the standards. I don't want my daughter's name next to Kara Hultgreen, or LCDR Lyndsay Evans, and Lt. Serena Wileman, or Lt. Rhiannon Ross or Ensign Morgan Garrett...or Nathalia Gadelha. We have to figure out how to stop sending our daughters up into aircraft and not getting them home alive.

🦅⛔️🏗️🪔 : Chief Judy Wilson says no new developments will proceed in First Nation territories across Canada, until Mark Carney addresses historic injustices. 🏗️ Sounds like Mark Carney's promise to approve major projects & build faster than ever before, just hit a major road blockade. 🦅 This is what happens when the government doles out hundreds of billions of $$$, with no accountability for how the money is spent & no final resolution to historic land disputes. 🐄 Why buy the cow, when Carney is giving the milk away, for free?

Exactly how I feel. Great write up on $MTY.TO Thanks Jim
Lot's of fun at $MTY.TO this morning: * CEO fired. * Unsolicited all-cash bid from Foodtastic to acquire MTY at $43 emerged AFTER the recently-completed Strategic Review concluded that MTY was best to go it alone going forward with a sharply boosted dividend, a renewed NCIB, and contemplation of an SIB. * Stock remains halted as I type. For the Foodtastic proposal to win out, they're going to need to win the Board. That's going to be a tough sell at $43, methinks. Until this morning there were seven (7) Board members including: * Stanley Ma - founder/Chairman/former CEO/largest individual shareholder. * Claude St-Pierre - former CFO and COO of MTY. Also, not for nothing, married to Stanley Ma. * Victor Elliot Mandel - just named CEO this morning * Eric Lefebvre - fired as CEO this morning. Also stepping down from board. So that's three of the remaining six board members who are going to be difficult to cajole into selling the company at a low price/valuation. Between them Ma and St-Pierre own about 1/6 of MTY. I imagine the rest of the board are going to take Ma's lead here. That said, my opinion/experience is that a company perceived to be "in-play" tends to stay in-play until a deal emerges. Foodtastic is not wrong to call out years of performance erosion...MTY will be able to partialy defend themselves on that front by pointing to the sacking of Lefebvre, I suspect, in addition to their Strategic Review takeaways. A lot of Ma's shares were purchased on the open market more than two decades back at a cost basis around $0.25. So I think there's got to be some tax consequence for him...that Foodtastic (or any other potential acquirer) will NEED to address in order to get him onside. I'm thinking that either Foodtastic, or another "White Knight" could come in with an offer to Ma to roll his equity into a newly-private MTY (avoiding immediate lump sum tax consequences) at an escalated price (say $52?) and this goes much more smoothly for everyone. Foodtastic is also considerably smaller (around 1,200 units versus the nearly 7,000 storefronts making up MTY), so there's a bit of a "rodent trying to eat a bull" dynamic here. Also, this part of Foodtastic's offer letter is idiotic bordering on clinically stupid: "$43 per Share is greater than the price target calculated by every major Canadian bank analyst. Their average one-year forward price target, discounted to present value, does not project an increase above today’s price of approximately $32 per Share. Notably, these price targets are calculated based on forecasts that assume the Company’s EBITDA stabilizes and grows." Like...what do analyst price targets have to do with valuing business equity? Regardless, this is a 2x recommendation of Motley Fool Hidden Gems Canada that has struggled...though I did slot it into our monthly "Best Buys Now" column a week-and-a-half ago after the Strategic Review was completed with the dividend hike and the commitment to amp up buybacks and debt repayment while deemphasizing acquisitions (for now). Will be watching with great interest here (not least of which is because I've owned shares personally since 2009).

I'm still waiting for people to understand how absolutely awful this company is $ASTS lol The amount of hate I got one I said I was shorting to set $100 was a fantastic. Apparently earnings don't mean anything to most of the internet investors.
