The client is basically irrelevant in this day and age. Anyone could build one better than Steam and it wouldn't even be hard. I only bring it up because it's what everyone talks about when defending Steam. Like it's still 2024 and these things are hard. Steams only remaining value is it's network.

steam doesn't have a monopoly, they don't stop anyone else from playing the platform game just because they get high margins doesn't mean they're a monopoly there is a lack of competition but its due to the competition being fucking incompetent

Valve has a monopoly on PC games distrubution. They have enormous profit margins that they get by charging a toll between studios and their audience. It's even regressive, with larger companies getting more favorable fee structures.

I'm like the shock-jocks of old. It's incredibly easy for people who have no moral center to take something I say that requires minutes or more of context and make it look horrible They don't care, they are trying to ruin my life by lying.
