Since this overrated hack is back to penning his vitriolic antisemitic screeds, I might as well repost one of the most enjoyable & scathing book reviews I've written, taking down this fraud's most recent book. Yes, Ta-Nehisi Coates is a charlatan. 👇 commentary.org/articles/mike…

So just to review: the midterm elections were not stopped. The President did not use military force or impose martial law. There will be a 2028 election. You won’t stop people from saying insane things. But you can stop believing them.

Look, if you think all those new voters Trump got are now maximalist Republicans who will love everything he does, rather than people who were sick of how things were going and cautiously took a chance on Trump, then like I said - good luck to you in 26 and 28.

Constitutional amendment curtailing presidential pardon powers.
congressional republicans would be well-served to work with democrats to pass a veto-proof curtailment of Presidential authority on tariffs.

I am very confident that Democrats have not learned this lesson. And with the DSA lurking in their midst, the risk that they’ll be pulled down by radicals is VERY high. Look at Maine and Michigan. Collins was defeated by a DSA-endorsed opponent. AES significantly under-performed relative to peers in tougher states for Democrats. This honeymoon is not going to last if party leaders don’t control their growing fringe. And I see zero indication that they plan to. Neither Republicans nor Democrats really seem to understand the assignment. They keep assuming they have “mandates” when what people are saying is that we don’t like the status quo, and we don’t like extremism.
Replying to @CorieWhalen
Hopefully the Dems learned their lesson from 1992, 2008 and 2020 that winning as centrists against an unpopular president and then governing as leftists doesn’t work well

For the last 10 years Donald Trump and his allies have ruthlessly exterminated any Republican who asserted even the slightest independence from Trump, such that there is no reasonable way to deny that the fate of the party at large is completely and entirely a referendum on Trump.

He should tell that to members who are saying things like "Lawyer up" and "Subpoenas will be our thank you."

Cool, exit polls showed voters overwhelmingly said Congress did not do enough to check Trump’s power.
Republicans were handed a trifecta and a mandate in 2024, yet Congress, specifically the Senate, did nothing but undermine President Trump and leave him to govern via temporary executive orders that ended up in protracted legal battles with activist judges that were never held to account. John Thune allowed over 100 critical House-passed bills to die in the Senate because he refused to nuke the filibuster, something every Democrat has said they’ll do if they take back control. Republican voters begged for 2 years to get any type of election integrity legislation passed, and John Thune refused. Chuck Grassley refused to get rid of blue slips to get all of Trump’s judicial nominees confirmed, but had plenty of time to upload videos of himself at Dairy Queen. Less than 20% of Trump’s EO’s were codified into law. This was the LEAST productive Congress in history, taking 364 days off. Why would Republican voters feel inspired to go out and vote for people who literally do nothing with the power given to them?

Nonsense, dude. In 2024 Trump won 55% of Hispanics in Texas and 34% of Black men. Was it conveniently demographics then? We had every opportunity to deliver and didn’t. Instead, those voters got a costly war that raised gas prices and diesel. Prolonged tariffs that increased the costs of goods, and a poorly executed immigration policy that turned people off—and that’s putting it mildly. The “it’s the demographics” excuses should fall on deaf ears because if that were true, there’s no way in hell we would’ve gotten the numbers we received in 2024. There was a generational opportunity to realign crucial voting blocs and Republicans screwed up. Instead of making excuses, the party needs to have a serious reality check about what is obviously not working and move forward so that the focus can be on 2028 and 2032.
In 1970, the White population in Texas was 89%. In 2000, it was 50%. Now it’s less than 39%. Demographics is destiny.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In 1970 the White population included Hispanic people because surveys in Texas didn't ask about Hispanic ethnicity as a separate question from race. In 2000 the White population for just race was 71%. Today White is 74% and "White, not Hispanic" sorted for ethnic origin is 37%. census.gov/quickfacts/TX

Quite the coincidence!
Kansas last elected a Dem to the US Senate in 1932. What was important about 1932? Republicans passed the Smoot-Hawley tariff in 1930, and in '32 voters had the 1st chance to respond to its effects. Dems gained 97 House, 12 Senate seats, 11 governorships & the presidency.

We’re in for a long stretch of Americans voting en masse for whichever party seems least crazy at any given time, until one or the other wises up and actually ceases to be crazy.
Just to show how bad it was for the GOP, the Democratic Party is not even seen in a favorable light. Exit polls showed that Democratic Party disapproval is 53%.

And just like that Democrats will also not learn their lesson. Won’t fix anyone’s problems. And will also answer to their fringe 10% of voters. Neither party will learn will they?

This is quantifiable. Trump slipped after Liberation day to about 40, where he stabilized for about a year until the strikes. The decline also tracked with thermostatic reaction to immigration enforcement. He then plummeted to 33 percent by August of this year. CPI was 2.4 percent in February and up 3.8 percent in April. August headline CPI was 3.4 percent against core at 2.4 with energy accounting for most of the gap. Republicans’ approval of the economy was at 79 percent in February, but dropped to 64 percent by May. Tariff opinion has been stable since April 2025. The late drop was the war. 74 percent of voters in exits said the war was a major or crucial factor in their vote.
Sean is really, really, really hoping nobody notices how far Trump slid in public approval before the war amidst unpopular tariffs. Also, by "neocons" he means anyone who thought nominating Donald Trump in 2024 was a good idea. This is what Trump leadership looks like. Trump could have gone to Congress. He could have defined war aims. He did none of what some of us Iran hawks urged him from Day One to do. And yes, I wrote all that publicly from the very start. Unlike Sean, I don't have to delete my past writings to cover my tracks.

.@mawrightjr: RE the One True Cause of the (probable) Blue Wave — “Was it Trump fatigue, the tariffs, or Iran and high gas prices?” — my view is that we will look back on the Liberation Day tariffs the same way we see Biden’s Afghanistan debacle in the summer of 2021. Why? Afghanistan and Liberation Day were the moments when normie, not-particularly partisan Americans looked up in horror and lost confidence that Biden and then Trump were capable of competence. Neither presidency ever recovered. If the economy was roaring through 2025, inflation was under control, and real wages were up, voters may have given Trump a little more leash on Iran and high gas prices in 2026. After the shambolic deployment of the tariffs in April 2025, voters simply weren’t going to do that. But question: Why is @jimgeraghty so certain we’re living on Earth One instead of Earth 607 or Earth 899? nationalreview.com/2026/11/2…
