Chamath Palihapitiya admits his blind spot on America's broken two-tier economy
PALIHAPITIYA: "I got it totally totally totally wrong. I got it totally wong."
"I'll go through all the ways in which I got it wrong, but I just want to first acknowledge what my blind spot is. Like most people's blind spots, but I can just speak for myself, it is through the lens of my own lived experience and very narrowly what is in my best interests. And I think what we had was a move away from the culture wars that was very much in my best interest, but I think it was in everybody else's best interests as well. I don't think that was on the ballot. But what I don't think I understood clearly enough, and I think that this election has made extremely clear, is that since COVID, we have moved past political ideology. And I want to say this again: I do not think Democrats or Republicans matter. That is my real takeaway after this election. There is a central block of people that vote the prescient issues of our time."
"It was a gargantuan win for Biden, then it was a gargantuan win for Trump, and then it was a gargantuan win for the Democrats in these midterms. What are these people voting for? I think what they are shouting now—they were trying to signal and now they are shouting—is a broad-based belief that the economy has completely decoupled from reality and is broken. The economic reality in America is broken."
"There is a small percentage of people, the four of us on this pod and all of our friends, who are the asset owners of America. And we have benefited in every weather condition. When rates were zero, we benefited because we were able to build our businesses with very cheap capital. When rates were high, we benefited because we had pricing power. And in every condition in between, whether there were tariffs, whether there were not tariffs, whether there were subsidies, whether there were not subsidies, we've all managed to continue to accumulate and grow assets, but we are few and far between."
"And then there's everybody else who are wage earners, and the structural capacity of the American economy to support and grow wage earners is broken. It's clear. Why do I say that? I do not think, and I disagree with Freeberg, I don't think this has anything to do with socialism. I don't think the far left won particularly more than they were expected. I don't think the far right won particularly more than was expected. This is a complete and total repudiation about the state of the economy. The economy is broken. I have a few charts to support my point of view. Number one, if this was ideological and if ideology mattered, money in politics would have had a more direct impact on the election."
It’s not insane to anyone else that he uses the word soft as a pejorative, but left the NBA because he is afraid of flying?
They think they're better than us. I'm so sick of watching this absolute surrender to these people. Who the fuck are you? The arab capital of America? Abdul El Sayed AbdiLahiRahmen, take your damn shoes off in my house and you pet my dog. PET MY DOG!

Kyle Kuzma questions why Senate races cost so much, pointing to $200,000,000 spent on Michigan’s U.S. Senate race
Kuz: “How do you tell if a candidate is protecting the people or regurgitating things from the donors in which have given them money? Because it seems to me like, why do you need $200, $300 million dollars to win a race?”
PBD: “That's the concern that some people have that they want to take the money out of politics. Unfortunately, neither one of them wants that to happen because it's become a business. Guys are now buying candidates in their own way. There's a lot of PACs. And say Republicans need to come in and spend $100 million. That's $100 million that the President loses for the 2028 campaign for the next Republican president. Some of these races, they're gonna have to spend a lot of money. So everything is, what's the least amount of money we can spend today to win a campaign”

There’s a reason why MLK didn’t finish the journey. It wasn’t because he couldn’t book a flight.
59 years later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s unfinished journey to Israel finally becomes a reality. ❤️🇮🇱🇺🇲
Today, 500 African American and African Christian leaders arrived in Israel as part of the "Unfinished Business" pilgrimage, an initiative created and led by the BCLCIR.
Their vision was to fulfill Dr. King’s dream of bringing African American pastors on a pilgrimage and solidarity trip to the Holy Land.
It was a journey MLK planned in 1967, but never got to make.
At a time when it proves most costly, these brave leaders came to see Israel for themselves, led by their faith, a deep commitment to the truth, and in service of Black - Jewish community building, a special tradition built by generations of solidarity.
As part of their trip, they also honored Israelis whose lives were forever changed by October 7 and by antisemitism, including Elkana Bohbot, who survived 738 days in Hamas captivity.
Welcome to Israel. We’re grateful to have you here. 🙏

Most of America never saw these ads, but if you were in Mississippi... you couldn't wait for a new @scott_colom ad to drop. His wife, Nadia, was a 🗝 figure in showing support, partnership, and bringing your attention to his campaign in the earlier days.💙

To give people an idea of what these affidavit counts look like in Colom-Hyde Smith, I just got off the phone with the Circuit Clerk in Scott County. Total vote?
3830 Colom, 3933 Hyde-Smith.
Total affidavits? 105. Colom took EIGHTY FIVE OF THEM. In a county he *lost*.

I believe the Left (not liberals) actually won because they made this about material conditions & economic security.
During the Biden administration, we heard far more about identity politics. Even moderate Dems benefited from this shift in message pushed by the left.

The NBA’s highest-paid player every season since 1996-97. Only seven names across 31 seasons.
Jordan made $33.1M in 1997-98. Nobody topped it until Curry in 2017-18 💰

You just don’t understand politics, procedures, and caucuses. I understand your passion, but you’re wrong. Jeffries, if he’s an against a policy that has majority support, he cannot block it. It’s called a discharge petition. You just know about American governance, brother

Read that Christale Spain—South Carolina’s Democratic Chair—played a large role in the state’s voter turnout in this Blue wave. Y’all owe her an apology.
Remember when the Black vote helped flip two Southern red states (Virginia & North Carolina) blue to get Obama elected in 2008???
Democrats don’t understand that instead of just chasing Latinos, they should be working to massively increase the kind of Black voter turnout that flips red states blue.
Most Blacks live in the South btw. That’s why they’re trying to write off the South. It’s erasure.
