Finally!
Well done @DarlingtonUnion !
🚨 Breaking: After a three year battle, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has finally changed its policy on single-sex spaces for staff to bring it in line with the law.
It is amazing how simple it is! Now all NHS Trusts must urgently follow suit.
Bethany Hutchison, President of the Darlington Nursing Union and lead claimant in the case, said:
“This short sentence in a policy has taken women three years of fear, humiliation and extraordinary personal sacrifice to secure.
“We were nurses asking for the most basic protection: somewhere private and safe to undress at work, away from members of the opposite sex. Instead of listening, the Trust told us to compromise, broaden our mindset and be more inclusive. We were forced out of our own changing room, placed in inadequate facilities, threatened with disciplinary action and made to fear for our jobs and professional careers.
“Vulnerable colleagues were put under intolerable pressure. International nurses feared losing their visas. Women who had experienced domestic abuse were left distressed and afraid. Four of us were reported to our professional regulator simply for speaking publicly about what was happening.
“Throughout it all, the Trust defended a policy it had been warned was unlawful. Even after the Supreme Court clarified the law, it refused to change course. It took a full tribunal judgment, an apology, damages and an enormous bill before the Trust finally wrote biological reality into its policy.
“We welcome this change because it will protect women across the Trust, but it should never have required a three-year legal battle. No nurse should ever again be treated as we were for asking for dignity, privacy and safety.”

Amanda Bland is the first MSP to quit Reform. She won’t be the last.
A number of others already on defection watch, with one “90% there” on decision to walk. Not a happy ship.

As Reform's only female MP said, the party is "so f****** chauvinistic" and "they just exclude you if you’re a woman. It’s really tough being a girl with all of this alpha male s*** going on."
If you're a woman - or if you're black, or muslim, or gay - Reform isn't for you.

Looks like Labour are waking up to the damage they’ve done to jobs for young people. At last.
Next step…cut the jobs tax too.
Why not adopt @Conservatives plan to halve it for under 25s?
EXCLUSIVE
John Healey will announce plans to increase the minimum wage by nearly 4 per cent but slow the rise for young people after warnings that they are being priced out of jobs
The Times has been told that the national living wage, which applies to those aged 21 and over, is expected to rise from £12.71 to around £13.20 — an increase of 3.9 per cent
However, Healey has decided not to repeat the big rises of the past two budgets in the national minimum wage, which applies to those aged 18 to 21
It will rise broadly in line with the rate for older workers - from £10.85 to around £11.27, an increase of 3.9 per cent
It effectively spells the end of Labour’s manifesto pledge to bring the “discriminatory” minimum wage for young people into line with the living wage for older workers in this parliament
The minimum wage increased by 26 per cent between 2025 and 2026, leading to stark warnings from employers that it risked impeding efforts to get 1 million “Neets” - young people not in education, employment or training - into work.
Healey alluded to the approach in an interview with The Times last week, in which he spoke of the importance of the “trade-off between the level of the minimum wage and the employment rate”

The only party who can beat Andy Burnham and this rotten Labour government, is the Tories under Kemi Badenoch’s leadership.
The Tories are now second ahead of Reform and rising. A Reform vote will help the socialists.

We. Need. All. Of. It.
We need to properly funded defence and that is across the Army, Navy and Airforce.
We’re not playing video games here; we can’t just send a few bombers or drones in to sort out the bad guys.
