raga japan was my first @RevenueCat event ever i attended just because i was in japan already. but then it blew my mind. speakers were world-class, sharing real actionable insights, not generic bs. and these guys knew how to organise events and throw an after-party! this time i flew to nyc just to attend @NewYorkAppWeek because i know they are gonna kill it again! and now we are in an aircraft carrier with a space shuttle for shipaton award ceremony 🤯

i'm in New York City for App Week and the @RevenueCat event got together with some consumer app legends yesterday, doing $500k+ MRR combined 🤯 i probably would’ve never had the chance to meet any of these lovely people if it wasn’t for X. still one of the best things about this platform if you’re in NYC this week and want to meet up, hit me up! @Vamzzz93 @kasperwaterlake @steilgaard @hymarhoon

it’s actually less than 3k after app store fees and government taxes (VAT) always worth looking at your proceeds rather than the gross revenue BUT cohorts are the actual thing here. hence the stickiness of your product and your retention rate are what really matters if you are building a real business, your cohorts are what matters. you need to think about next year, not today
When people say they make $10k/m, is that the revenue they see on RevenueCat or what they actually take home? Like if you make $10k/m but spend $7k on ads, you're only left with $3k right? If I want $10k to actually hit my bank account, how much MRR should I aim for? Basically, how much are y’all spending on ads to hit $10k/m? asking so i can allocate my budget lol

there is a big expo OTA (over-the-air updates) hype on X bubble nowadays (as if it’s a new thing) you’d get terminated if you significanly change the app remotely this includes ota, remote config and so on don’t abuse it, only use it for significant bugs that has a significant business impact for those who want to use ota properly, here is my tips for you: ota updates won’t land on the first launch so users will need to restart the app 1-2 times. hence it becomes useless unless you build this properly. how to build it properly: > have 5s timeout limit on your splash screen and try to download your update on your splash, if it can’t download just let the user get into the app > after you install this asyncly, show an in app banner with a cta stating restart to update, which restarts and finally the user will get the updates > don’t do ota updates for your onboarding flow, unless there is a severe bug (not good for UX, not good for Apple - you might get banned)
agreed I only do ota now

🤑🤑 final step got achieved to print more 🤑🤑 if you've been fortunate enough to have access and experimented with this amazing API, please tell me your experiments and experience which one converts better? > text-based message > a text-based message with an image > a switch-plan message > a promotional-offer message with a discount i incline towards the discount but also cautious of people abusing this

one of the biggest problems as a solo founder is knowing what to believe who to believe and who to get advice from we have solved it. introducing trust based consultancy and mrr based chatrooms everyone is verified and you only chat with founders who are on the same path as you or you can pay up to learn from those who are already at where you want to be head over to whatsthe.app

when your cofounder ships two killer features and you learn it on X 🤯 tl;dr: > chat with cofounders with certain mrr and exchange ideas and brainstorm (you can only this if your mrr is close to theirs) > get consultancy from founders who are already where you want to be! all with verified revenues so no fake gurus it’d be cool to actually separate mrr and profit to make this even more vaulable by perhaps verifying the ad spend. not sure the best way to do that but it’d be super cool! well done @david_attisaas
😝 jake from sw did this - jake from sw did that 😝 😂 chatmrr this - chatmrr that 😂 f*ck all of this :) mind you I have the biggest mobile apps marketplace with 1800+ verified mobile apps app makers want a proper chatroom for their level of MRR and talk with makers at their level I've implemented that for you here: whatsthe.app/chatrooms rooms are gated by your MRR level verified by either: - revenuecat - adapty is actually #2 - superwall (I included you <3 because I'm nice) - apple store connect - google play store - stripe + I'm planning to add paddle, polar, dodopayments, lemonsqueezy shortly @burakeregar didn't know about this feature either until now. surprise for you mfer. now!! me thinking of maybe I'll add a "consult" features for MRR-verified makers to offer paid consults to 1 or a group of other lower MRR-verified app makers via whatstheapp kidding... I've added that feature as well today. now you guys with good MRR can offer your consulting services to lower MRR guys stop taking consults from fake revenue screenshots grifters... take consults from people from a higher MRR range than you are

growing my business to $20k MRR is easier than convincing my wife to sleeping in a cold room for sleep quality outside weather is above 30 degrees every day she doesn’t want the AC under 27 degrees i somehow got used to this this morning she woke up and told me why we must put the AC to 30 degrees celcius she was quite moody and told me she got a sore throat because of AC being on 27 degrees @levelsio is mad at EU for not letting ACs to 18 but my “regulator” is even worse than Ursula 😂 i may need a commitee led by @bryan_johnson and @hubermanlab to tell her why we’ll live long and be more successful if we sleep in a colder room joking aside, i can’t seem to be able to find a solution apart from sleeping in different rooms? temperature controlled beds are not an option for us because we are nomading so any advice that comes with home specific ideas wouldn’t work for us i reckon the market is huge if you find a solution to this problem ps: finding a new wife isn’t the solution

google fucked me over once back in 2016 they removed my app which was making $800/day - all organic yesterday, i got this scary message just because they couldn't verify my payment method?!? this is for them to pay me btw, not the other way around they said they will transfer me a random amount in a couple of days and they require me to tell them how much they transferred imagine having an issue with the transfer and i don't receive their "payment" on time. just because they don't have my bank details to pay me, they remove my apps??? it's unbelievable that these platforms have this much power over our businesses normally, you can't do anything even remotely close to this in developed countries. i still wonder how they get away with this

got this email from a student asking for a refund. it’s around $35 what would you do? a) guide her through apple’s refund process b) transfer her the money personally apple’s refund could take weeks to reach her. if she needs that money now, that’s a long wait i could send it today, but she could still receive an apple refund too and get paid twice i’m leaning towards sending it and accepting that risk. $35 might mean a lot more to her right now how would you handle it?

30.6% app store conversion rate feels HUGE the indies i’ve spoken to said 10% was decent and 15% was really good but i’m missing a key detail: their organic vs paid split is 30%+ more common for apps growing mainly through paid ads? how much does the traffic source explain? drop your app store conversion rate + the percentage of downloads you get from organic vs paid let’s compare numbers with some context

the feeling when almost 500 people trust you enough to pay for what you build still kinda crazy to think about hoping i look back at this tweet in a few months and laugh at how excited i was about 500 subscribers :)
