This WSJ article has received much notice this week in trade circles. The article points to the multiple problems for US industries (autos, construction, tech) due to the punitive tariffs the US has needlessly slapped on Canadian aluminum
Good @WSJ dive into the World's Dumbest Tariff: "America Needs Canada’s Aluminum. Trump’s Tariff Exposed Just How Badly." wsj.com/business/aluminum-ta… "Trump’s trade war has cast Canada’s aluminum smelters as the enemy—and U.S. businesses and consumers are paying a price."

Rural areas are already emptied out. Actually what do you want? The 400 Mexicans in the county who actually work to be gone too so it can fully return to wilderness?

Letting people with severe mental illness and addiction rot and die on the street and completely dominate the public realm is not a progressive ideal. The families that rely on transit, libraries, parks and streets deserve safe, clean, comfortable, corpse free spaces.
There’s hundreds of young kids that live in Tenderloin. These kids see dead bodies practically every day and it’s not blurred when they see it. So if they see it and they stomach it I’m quite sure y’all adults who’s asking me to blur it out can stomach it too…

The Vice President who built his political identity on a fabricated story about immigrants eating pets in an Ohio city of 60,000 people, then watched bomb threats shut that city down for weeks, is now very concerned about the quality of American political discourse. Noted. The debate he wants to have freely and openly is the one where nobody brings receipts.
.@VP torches a Radical Left lunatic in Kansas: "The only chance the Democrats have is to interrupt and shut down the debate — because what we have a free and open debate, the American people will realize that all the Democrats are selling is a fat load of BULLSHIT."

If he keeps saying things like that, it will become impossible for Canadians to pay for their own drinks in any bar in the democratic world.

A remarkable claim that got my attention, explained with a remarkably absurd attachment to simple correlation and bad math. Just literally invented whole cloth. I don't know why people feel the need to do this.
Just your daily pre-midterm reminder that *5,000* Americans who would have statistically been homicide victims have not been murdered in the U.S. in the past two years because Donald Trump deported a whole bunch of criminals.

I’m not sure what’s more disturbing: that he keeps talking like this or that grown adults laugh at him like they’re twisted voyeurs at a sideshow act and not an audience listening to the President of the United States.
Trump: "So I'm studying him. And I made the mistake of saying that I started off by studying his ass. I just wantasink. And then I looked at his feet and they were massive. I made the mistake of studying his anatomy. Maybe I should do that with Ken Paxton, but I'm not sure your body is gonna qualify."

Yes indeed. To this today, I get furious when I walk by the aisle with coffee in the supermarket, price is now $14.99 for a 12 ounce bag. And plenty of recent, good articles about the bad effects of the aluminum tariffs.

"What we seem to be getting back to is the nineteenth century. Then politics tended to be centered on the fight between liberals (broadly speaking), and illiberals or anti-liberals. That struggle, and the various victories and defeats of each side, defined the history of many nations throughout that era. We thought for a while that we’d moved beyond that. We were wrong." thebulwark.com/p/how-do-you-…

I dunno, the likes of Google and Apple sure cared about Trump renaming stuff, as they had their map apps change the names of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. If this is a non-issue, then why did they do that? They're obviously concerned about some sort of retribution.
Matt is right...nobody cares about Trump renaming stuff

Yes, I saw another reply that made that point, there are clear benefits to give the executive flexibility on tariffs for certain circumstances. Problem is that Trump is applying decades-old tariff laws for purposes other than for which they were enacted. This is the aspect that should be carefully looked at.
