The most expensive part of a hospital bill may never touch the hospital at all. A patient admitted for care has no way of knowing whether the price on a medical consumable reflects its actual cost or a markup fixed long before it ever reached the ward. That gap in information is, at its core, a public health issue. A survey of hospital consumables in Maharashtra found an IV infusion set with a trade price of ₹11.05 carrying a printed MRP of ₹325 ; a markup of 2,841%. A syringe procured at ₹6.75 carried an MRP of ₹57.20. A catheter procured at ₹29.41 carried an MRP of ₹310. These are not elective purchases. Patients cannot compare prices, seek alternatives, or question a number printed on a box while receiving care and the MRP itself is often fixed upstream by manufacturers and distributors, disconnected from the trade price by a wide, unexplained margin. The result is a system where the party bearing the cost has the least information to evaluate it. The regulatory gap is structural: scheduled medicines are capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Most medical devices and consumables are not leaving both the pricing and the information around it almost entirely unmonitored. A review of these findings and clear guidelines on the permissible gap between trade procurement price and declared MRP have been recommended to the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the NPPA ; a step toward closing not just a pricing gap, but the information gap patients are left to bear alone. #PublicHealth #GoodGovernance #Leadership #TukaramMundhe moneycontrol.com/news/busine…

CSS officers have raised their voice—and the issue is now TRENDING on X in India! 📢🔥 Officers came together on social media to highlight the 8-year delay in the 4th CSS Cadre Review. When those who help light the way for others are left in the dark, it truly is “चिराग़ तले अंधेरा।” We now urge the Government to act and complete the 4th CSS Cadre Review urgently. @PMOIndia @DoPTGoI @DrJitendraSingh #ExpediteCSSCadreReview #चिरागतलेअंधेरा

Vacancies exist, officers are eligible, conditions are met — yet bottlenecks recur at ASO→SO, SO→US, US→DS. This can't be fixed batch-by-batch forever. CSS has waited 8+ years. How much longer? @pmoindia @Drjitendrasingh @doptgoi #ExpediteCSSCadreReview #चिराग़तलेअंधेरा

Thanks, @journoashwini, for highlighting the legitimate and long-pending demands of CSS officers. The CSS Forum demands the immediate Cadre Review of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) and timely promotion of stagnating officers. Eight years of delay in the Cadre Review and prolonged stagnation in promotions cannot be justified any longer. @PMOIndia @DrJitendraSingh @DoPTGoI

The CSS Forum appreciates @DoPTGoI for completing 60 Cadre Reviews of Central Group ‘A’ Services. However, while CSS officers across Government tirelessly support administrative reforms and Cadre Reviews of other services, their own Cadre Review has remained pending for over 8 years. The 4th CRC was constituted in October 2022, when the review was already delayed by four years. Even after 47 months, its report remains pending, resulting in an unprecedented consolidated delay of 95 months (2,892 days). Is this not a classic case of “चिराग तले अंधेरा”? Those who help make reforms happen across Government deserve meaningful reform within their own cadre too. Reforms are most meaningful when they encompass every cadre that contributes to making governance work. @PMOIndia @ashwinijourno @gautam_debroy @vijaita @amreshsrivastav @journo_jitendra @arvindgunasekar @DhingraSanya @bhartijainTOI @DaminiNath @meetujain @RTIExpress @DeeptimanTY @deekbhardwaj @DaminiNath @rupeshmishramp @anuragjourno @capt_ivane @jgopikrishnan70 @Goverdhan__ @Pankajkpandey @basantthespring @ashlinpmathew
The Department of Personnel and Training has strengthened the cadre review framework through transparent monitoring, institutionalisation of the Cadre Review Calendar and regular consultations with Cadre Controlling Authorities (CCAs). These reforms have contributed to a significant reduction in pending cadre reviews and streamlined the cadre review process across All India Services. Key achievements: * 60 cadre reviews of Central Group ‘A’ Services completed * 117 cadre reviews of All India Services notified from 2014 till June 2026 * Simplification of instructions on Cadre Review and NFSG through two comprehensive Office Memoranda #DoPT #CadreReview #GovernanceReforms #AdministrativeReforms

CSS Forum today submitted a representation to @PMOIndia & @MoHUA_India, respectfully seeking adherence to MoHUA’s office space norms (OM dated 16.03.2017) for CSS officers in Kartavya Bhawan. Ensuring appropriate workspace upholds the spirit of #ViksitBharat and supports the silent, dedicated efforts of CSS officers in nation-building. #Centralvista #KartavyaBhavan

Video: @flyspicejet employee Mudasir Ahmad Khan and his gang tried to assault the Army officer first. (Watch first 30 seconds of the video) If you dare to touch an army officer, you are destined to bite the dust. Rest details are in quoted tweets.
Little Long Read! The Army officer had a medical emergency at his home, he got emergency leave. Staff did not only misbehave but they closed the boarding gate without taking him in for a hand baggage which was cleared by the check in counter. His flight missed, and he did in anger what he should not have. SpiceJet in particular has been the flag bearer of this crooked behaviour. They are cutting costs on ground staff, allowing bags heavier than 7 kg to be carried as hand baggage. It's a prevalent scene. Suddenly, when they want to make money, they will start charging extra for the same baggage that has been cleared earlier, and this is not new; this has been happening for a long time. Local staff there have harassed many army officers and soldiers earlier also, but none spoke about it, and I'm sure even this officer would not have reacted too if he did not have to got to attend family medical emergency. But those people who are defending SpiceJet staffs would have been outraged on social media and would have trended #BoycottSpiceJet had it happened to them. + I can see lots of political stooges, who questioned the armed forces during Operation Sindoor, are now targeting the army officer because they have got the chance. So many people are ranting here, but none stood for the army officers when: 1. Recently Col PS Bath was assaulted in Patiala; not a single police officer was arrested. (HC handed over the case to CBI now.) 2. When Lt. Col. was slapped in front of his wife and daughter in Lucknow, the ASI was not arrested yet. 3. When Capt and his wife were assaulted by police in Odisha, there was no outrage (the High Court had to intervene and rap up the police.) 4. When a soldier in Rajasthan was brutally assaulted by police, there was no outrage. 5. In Jamakhandi, Karnataka, 9 Para SF troopers were jailed. Even the Army, under the provisions of Section 104 of the Army Act, 1950, formally sought military custody of Ptr Abhimanyu on the 19th of March 2025 but was rejected. All these cases have happened in the last year.

#Haldwani #Uttarakhand #RoadSafety

Sincere thanks to @ashwinijourno for spotlighting the long-pending Cadre Review & OGAS/NFU issue of Central Secretariat Service (CSS). Thousands of officers, especially ASOs & Under Secretaries, face deep stagnation. We urge @PMOIndia @DoPTGoI @DrJitendraSingh ji for urgent intervention. #CSSCadreReview
