For those asking why I no longer believeβ€”here are the specific doctrines and difficulties I could no longer reconcile. Subsitutionary atonement The concept of eternal torment The improbability of a resurrection or miracles The hiddeness of god (mainly in my own life) The lack of change in the lives of Christians The problem of random, and unnecessary suffering The lack of unity in Christianity I am aware all Christians don't share the views on these, some don't even see issues.…. but I was raised evangelical Christian and they embrace or explain them away as part of their theology. The fact Christians don't agree is the last problem. Please don't feel the need to give me a refresher course on the apologetics. I know those all too well.

Here’s an interesting thought experiment, suppose Adam and Eve actually existed and they lived forever if they didn’t sin. Assuming their offspring also didn’t sin and lived forever. In a few thousand years you’d have a quadrillion people roaming the earth, living forever!

I didn't leave Christianity angry either… one doubt lead to another, and another, and another. It never had sufficient answers for the deepest doubts.
I didn't leave Christianity angry. I left it after one small conversation with a friend about good and evil. One question I couldn't answer honestly, and it sent me questioning everything I had believed my whole life. I did the research nobody wanted me to do. Now I write ebooks and share what I found, the evidence on the table. And I want to connect. With skeptics who see it like I do. With believers who see it completely differently. With anyone still sitting in a pew quietly doubting and thinking they're the only one. Follow along, reply, argue with me, ask me anything. I answer. Meaningful conversation with everyone is the whole point of this account. ~TExB

We don’t need to imagine motives, only admit the facts. The fact is: 1) Trump grotesquely exploits religion for political gain 2) this gives him another photo op before midterms he can use to exploit religion for political gain I don’t need imagination; you need denial πŸ˜‘

Content penned by their god's hand: 0% Content penned by men in the midst of a fever dream: 100% The idea that this god used men as pens, giving them divine will/inspiration, is undeniably one of the funniest explanations ever given for a text's authorship.

Proof.
What is something that isn’t in the Bible that many Christians believe is true?

The average Christian (especially on X) is an angry dude that is pissed about life and love and blames everything on liberals, women and atheists.
An average atheist is just an angry dude who is pissed about life and blames everything on God.

It’s often this concern that makes me think it may be bad to rip Christianity away from these people. Monkeys don’t believe in god, and none of them do crazy things bc they are too busy living life and being monkeys. They don’t ponder their purpose: to be a monkey. Belief related behavioral modifications are a very human problem that religion has brought to light. Perhaps it would be different if they hadn’t been inundated with religious imagery and dogma all their life, but I am confident that if they learned the science to get to the point of apostasy, a significant proportion would go on violent rampages. They simply can’t handle their actual purpose: to be a human and live their life and let others live theirs 🫣

Original Sin. Sodom and Gomorrah. The Flood. Egypt’s firstborn. David’s innocent infant son. A biblical pattern: punishing the many for the sins of some, killing innocents rather than merely the guilty. God kills David’s infant son because of David’s sin (2 Samuel 12:13–18). Then God sacrifices his own innocent son for humanity’s sinsβ€”though an omnipotent God could simply forgive. And we call this divine justice?

It would help me think of my opinion on your question if you provided an example of some action for which you think God punishes people. or,The God of which religion or religions or philosophy? Do you believe it's unjust for... 1/2

Simping for billionaire oligarchs who don't give a tiny, dry, flaccid fuck about you is peak stupidity. Why are you defending an asshole whose boot is on your skinny neck? If that's your kink, fine. But it's deeply deranged, misplaced and delusional on your part.
If people dislike Elon Musk so much, why do they still use the platform he owns?

PSA: All US adult earners are currently paying $250 per month for the conflict in Iran. Imagine seeing that on your monthly pay stub: "War with Iran.... $250". Has perspective reached you? Imagine the other line items you get no benefit from. #IranWar #IranConflict

I am not gonna give up the friendships and connections I built on here because of Elmo. Besides I reject the premise that he owns the platform. I am of the belief that the users own it as it is them that make it worthwhile.

No thanks. πŸ˜‚ What I watch, drink, smoke or do with my own body is my business. Jesus isn’t my probation officer.
Let go of porn. Let go of weed. Let go of alcohol. Let go of masturbation. Hold on to Jesus instead.

Amy Acton was nine when it started. By the time she was 12, her stepfather was arrested and charged. He fled with her mother and was a fugitive until his death. He was guilty. She was a child. It is breathtakingly horrific for Vivek to victim-blame a child 50 years later.
