Brad, ur in Palestine. Pls exercise some humility. Listen more, lecture less. Framing the targeting of soldiers as a “cycle of violence” - rather than resistance 2 apartheid & genocide- while also not demanding US sanctions/arms embargo is asking Palestinians to die politely.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

A checkpoint.
Two Palestinian gunmen attacked a road junction near Hebron on Friday, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to direct Israel’s military to prepare for a “full lockdown” of the West Bank. The militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. wapo.st/47AMafU

Israel will use any opportunity to escalate its ethnic cleansing. The closing of the West Bank and abduction of over 30+ Palestinians is yet another assault on Palestinian life. Palestinians are attacked and killed by settlers every waking day, where is that outrage?
Benjamin Netanyahu, declared today that he is planning to carry out the ethnic cleansing of entire neighborhoods in Hebron. His declaration represents an alarming escalation in Israel’s policies of forced displacement and a flagrant violation of international law and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people. It must be unequivocally condemned, and the international community must act immediately to prevent the forcible displacement of Palestinian residents and hold those responsible accountable.

Within the next 48 hours, if flour is not allowed into Gaza, all bakeries in the city will stop producing bread. We are facing an enormous catastrophe. Famine is knocking on our doors once again, and this time, it could be worse than anything we have experienced before. Please, do not remain silent! Talk about Gaza, make our voices heard around the world, and do everything you can before thousands of people lose access to something as basic as a loaf of bread.

Our organizing work has worked. One of the largest pro-Israel lobby groups will no longer endorse congressional candidates. This is a huge win.
SCOOP: AIPAC will no longer endorse congressional candidates or earmark donations to congressional campaigns. The group's super PAC, United Democracy Project, will continue to operate and it will urge members to donate directly to pro-Israel candidates. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/ai…

I listened to Mariam speaking. She kept repeating the same heartbreaking words: “I want my mum.” “My body hurts.” “There was a lot of fire.”

What’s sickening is that there have been likely hundreds of Palestinian journalists killed by Israel over the last decade that were clearly wearing Press gear that Israel didn’t care. Listen to Palestinians, honor those who have been killed, and amplify their stories, too.

🇵🇸 Doctors in Gaza are performing full mastectomies on breast cancer patients even when tumors are small, because Israel prevents radiation therapy from entering the Strip, Al Araby TV correspondent Asem Alnabih reported. Breast-conserving surgery requires follow-up radiation, which is unavailable in Gaza, due to Israeli restrictions. The report, aired during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, found severe shortages of cancer drugs and disrupted early detection services. Gaza's main cancer hospital has been destroyed, and about 11,000 cancer patients remain stranded, as Israeli restrictions block most from leaving for treatment abroad.
There are many painful details in my report about breast cancer in Gaza, one of which is that doctors are forced to perform full mastectomies even in cases where the tumor is small, simply because the Israeli occupation prevents radiation therapy from entering the Strip.

They have literally gone insane. Gaza is under repeated strikes right now. Aircraft are flying extremely low, and their sounds are terrifying. People are fleeing their homes after the warnings. The situation is horrifying, and no one knows what will happen next. Do not stop talking about Gaza. Do not let the world forget the terror we live through every day.

Yesterday, an ICE agent opened fire in Marble Hill. They shot a member of our community in the neck while he was in his car. His five-year-old kid was in a child seat in the back of the car when ICE agents fired at least 7 rounds into it. This was in the middle of the afternoon, with children walking home from school and people heading home from work. Federal agents put every one of them in danger. When I was in Marble Hill last night I saw NYPD officers rapidly escalating violence. As I was trying to de-escalate, I was shoved to the ground by an officer. I witnessed unmarked law enforcement cars hitting protestors as NYPD officers pushed people out of its path. And instead of condemning ICE’s violence, Police Commissioner Tisch attempted to justify the shooting by reading off our neighbor’s past interactions with police. The NYPD spent more time protecting a militia that just shot someone than protecting New Yorkers. Last night, the NYPD and Commissioner Tisch violated the spirit, if not the letter, of our sanctuary city policies and fueled the Trump Administration’s attempt to demonize our communities. The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group must be disbanded as quickly as possible, and Commissioner Tisch must step down. In this district, there are mothers who are afraid to send their kids to school, workers who are afraid to show up for their shifts, and people who won’t call for help anymore because they can’t be sure who will come. That’s what it means to have a violent militia operating in your community. You don’t feel safe walking down your own street.  For decades, we’ve been told ICE can be fixed with more oversight, better training, or reform. But you can’t reform an agency whose purpose is to terrorize immigrant families. You can’t train cruelty out of a system built to enact cruelty. ICE must be abolished. This moment demands that everyone step up. Elected officials at every level need to stop hedging and say it plainly: Abolish ICE now. Our city must enforce every sanctuary protection we have and city officials must ensure this cannot happen again.

State sanctioned violence either enacted by the police in the U.S. or settler violence and military violence in Israel must be abolished. Start grasping how these systems are all fundamentally the same. There’s no reforming the police. There’s no reforming Zionism.

Today is not an ordinary day. Today marks the anniversary of the loss of my son, Rakan. My little boy, who came into this world after five years of waiting, lived for only nine months, and then was taken from us in a single moment under the bombardment. On October 9, 2023, at around 2 a.m., I returned from my work as a journalist through the fire and destruction, only to find that my family was buried beneath the rubble… and Rakan was among them. I cannot describe what it feels like for a father to search through the rubble for his child, or how a heart can accept that the little face that once filled our home with life will never come back. Three years have passed… and I still find myself looking for him in the details of my life. In my children’s laughter, in children’s toys, and every time I hold a child in my arms. I once thought time would make the pain easier. Instead, it has only taught me how to carry it. And today, as I hold Yaman in my arms, I feel that Rakan is still with me in another way. Yaman is not a replacement for him, and he never could be. Every child has a place in their father’s heart, and Rakan has a place that no one can ever take. Rakan… You were only nine months of my life, but you left behind a lifetime in my heart. You left this world so young, but your memory grows with me every day. May God have mercy on my son Rakan and make him among the birds of Paradise. May He reunite me with him one day, in a place with no bombardment, no fear, and no separation. I miss you, Rakan… more than words could ever express.

Three years of genocide and some are still questioning if there is some version of Zionism that can exist. To end genocide and to protect my people, Zionism must be dismantled. Bit by bit. My people deserve life. Palestine deserves to be free.

Three years into Israel's genocide in Gaza, the newly launched Gaza Genocide Center is building a permanent, verified record of it, starting with testimonies from survivors. Its first, recorded in Gaza, is from Somaia El-Swerki. On Dec. 2, 2023, when she was 19, an Israeli airstrike destroyed her family's home in Gaza City. She lay trapped beneath the rubble for 21 days. Her mother died beside her on the seventh day. It's the first in a series of survivor accounts. The center is led by historian @JehadAbusalim, who is originally from Deir el-Balah and is a PhD candidate in History and Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University. Our first testimony from Gaza. Somaia El-Swerki was 19 when an Israeli airstrike destroyed her family's home in Gaza City. For three weeks she lay trapped beneath the rubble. Her mother died beside her on the seventh day. She survived. This is her account, in her own words.
