This seems like a great time to reshare my favourite Sir Patrick Stewart performance, ‘What has the ECHR ever done for us?’ It’s just perfect in every possible way … including the ending 😂😂😂 RIP.

Hopefully anyone with a secret phone would have it switched off but charged and ready. If not, the emergency alarm this evening may have meant it was discovered. Please share.

Made a cup of tea and sat down in the garden… then suddenly we could smell burning.
As a farmer, there are few smells more frightening in weather like this.
We’ve spent the last hour driving around our fields, checking hedges and boundaries, trying to work out where it’s coming from and whether there’s anything we can do. We can’t see anything but the smell is in the air in the village. The countryside is a tinderbox at the moment one tiny spark could destroy crops, hedgerows, wildlife and habitat in minutes.
Please, please don’t light barbecues or fires in the countryside. And do make sure your children know just how dangerous fire can be in these conditions.
Our countryside is precious. At the moment, it needs all of us to look after it. @FarmersWeekly @wheat_daddy @loosecollie @NoFarmsNoFoods

GOOD POINT👇👇👇
To all the Supermarkets and big commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'....... You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my trolly, emptied my trolly and scanned the items, refilled my trolly and so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.
Signed ......All of us
People we need to share this statement its basically about PROFIT to the stores AND putting People out of a JOB....!!!

In ten days time with your help we can cap how much money anyone can personally give to a political cause and any chance millionaires can buy our politics. If you agree share this and ask your MP to co sign the amendment. It’s time we made sure it’s democracy not donations that define our future.

Chris, it is difficult not to notice the contrast in tone.
When Sir Keir Starmer occupied Number 10, your reporting frequently centred upon the pressures he faced, the divisions within his party and the political difficulties confronting his Government. Yet Andy Burnham unveils proposals carrying profound constitutional, financial and administrative implications, and the scrutiny appears noticeably lighter.
Where are the obvious questions?
Why Manchester? What will a Northern Number 10 cost? How does relocating part of the Prime Minister's operation actually devolve power? Was such a proposal placed before the electorate? What measurable benefit justifies duplicating part of the machinery of Government?
These are not peripheral questions; they are central to the proposal itself.
Journalism is at its strongest when it applies the same level of rigour to every political figure, irrespective of who they are. Readers deserve scrutiny as searching for Mr Burnham as it was for Sir Keir Starmer.
