Afghan national Afsar Safi, who arrived in the UK by small boat in 2021, has had his sentence increased from two years and six months to four years for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a seven year old girl after the Court of Appeal ruled his original sentence unduly lenient.
On September 6, 2025, Safi approached the seven-year-old girl at his asylum hotel in Acton, west London, and offered her an apple before inviting her to his room.
She refused five times before Safi grabbed her by the arm and forced her into his room, where he kissed her on the cheek. Speaking through a Pashto interpreter, he later admitted kissing the child, claiming he acted out of love for children and that people did this back home.
The girl managed to escape and alert hotel security. In court, she described being too frightened to tell Safi to stop. Her victim impact statement revealed the lasting psychological effects of the assault, including nightmares that caused her to wake up crying. She also continues to feel unsafe around men when alone.
Safi denied both charges but was subsequently convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault of a child at Isleworth Crown Court on April 27, 2026. His defence referred to his difficult childhood, claiming he had been taken from his family at the age of 10 and forced to work for the Taliban. His barrister said Safi had received just three years of education and spoke limited English. His asylum claim, which reportedly referenced links to the Taliban from childhood, was refused.
On June 12, 2026, Safi was initially sentenced to two years and six months in prison. Reports stated he could potentially be released on licence after serving as little as six months. The Solicitor General challenged the sentence as unduly lenient and insufficient to reflect the seriousness of the offences.
On October 23, 2026, the Court of Appeal increased Safi’s sentence to four years. Lord Justice Jeremy Baker said it was difficult to escape the conclusion that Safi had selected the girl because of her age and inability to resist, ruling that the original sentence failed to reflect the seriousness of his offending. Safi was also placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.
Despite Safi arriving in the UK by small boat in 2021 and being convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a seven year old child, there was no mention in court or police statements of deportation proceedings or any recommendation that he be removed from the UK after completing his sentence.

🚨 EX TORY COUNCILLOR PLEADS GUILTY TO 56 OFFENCES!
Philip Young, a former Conservative councillor in Swindon, has admitted 56 offences, including rape, sexual assault and drugging his former wife.
‼️ He advertised his wife on Craigslist, Grindr and swinging websites, a court has heard.
‼️ Prosecutors say she was drugged and sexually assaulted by multiple men.
‼️ Four other men are now standing trial, accused of sexual offences against her. They deny the charges.
Absolutely sickening. And 56 offences! Let that sink in.
I wonder how many media outlets will remember to mention he’s an EX TORY COUNCILLOR in their headlines. 🤔
🤷🏻♀️ We need to know what the Tories are doing to vet their councillors.

I know all too well what happens when religion is weaponized to control women. We must not normalize it.
A WIRED report finds the "Muslim manosphere" going mainstream: influencers invoking Allah's authority to tell women how to dress, behave, and speak, and followers bombarding women's inboxes with unsolicited messages.
@Ayaan on what happens when male resentment finds religious authority:

Thomas Reeds, 25, from Ashton-under-Lyne, travelled to Reading to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old child — despite already being subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He was arrested by the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit on 8 April 2026 after arranging the meeting through online messages exchanged between February and April.
Investigators discovered he had also been communicating with other children in breach of his order. Searches of his devices uncovered 15 indecent images of children.
Reeds pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating a child sex offence, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, sexual communication with a child and making indecent images and videos of a child.
He was also convicted of three breaches and eight attempted breaches of his order.
Sentenced on 23 October, Reeds received 7 years and 6 months in prison, followed by 3 years on extended licence.

During the UK Political space on Monday night, the host, Nil, had one of her windows smashed, you may have heard the recording.
It was not an antisemitic attack and it had nothing to do with X. It was a couple of local kids who have been caught on camera & the police are investigating. Nil is ok if a bit miffed as you would be!
We look forward to hearing you in next Monday’s space - happy burnham budget day! 😬

Tesh Sidi is a Spanish member of parliament. She sits for Más Madrid, a left-wing party, within Sumar, the far-left coalition that governs Spain alongside Pedro Sánchez’s Socialists. Born in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, she arrived in Spain as a child and became one of the left’s rising stars. She’s now number 2 on the Frente Amplio list, a new alliance of left-wing parties, for Madrid in Spain’s general election on November 29.
When Pope Francis died in April 2025, Spain’s government declared three days of official mourning. Inside Sumar’s private parliamentary chat, some members questioned honoring a religious leader in a secular state. Then Sidi wrote: “We Muslims celebrate the death, hehehe.”
The message, revealed this week by the Spanish newspaper La Razón, left even her own colleagues speechless. One replied with nothing but “????”. She hasn’t commented.
Francis was the most progressive pope in decades. He defended migrants, washed the feet of Muslim refugees and called for dialogue between faiths. That’s the man whose death got a “hehehe.”
Imagine the reaction if a right-wing MP had written that about the death of an imam.

A 13 year old boy lies in hospital with potentially life changing injuries after yet another reported stabbing in the heart of a British city.
This time, the scene was Manchester’s Market Street, outside the Arndale Centre, at seven o’clock on a Tuesday evening.
Not some remote backstreet, but one of the city's busiest shopping areas.
Two boys, aged just 14 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. Police inquiries continue.
There is something profoundly disturbing about a society in which children are allegedly caught up in such violence before they have even reached adulthood.
A 13 year old may now face consequences that will shape the rest of his life, while two other children sit in police custody.
We have become remarkably accustomed to reading such reports. The familiar language of police statements, arrests and ongoing inquiries risks obscuring the human reality beneath it.
The question is not merely what happened on Market Street that evening. It is how Britain has reached a point where news of a gravely injured schoolboy can seem like just another ordinary headline.

And you thought I was depressing.
Budget Day will be bad, what comes next will be worse. Burnham will call an election, Tories will win back seats lost to Lib Dems who will disappear again, Reform will set a record for most second places and win fewer than 20 seats, SNP will be rampant in Scotland, Burnham will have a majority of c. 90.

When I was a kid, my late father had a Christmas tradition.
Every December, he'd pack me and my sister into the car at night and drive down Oxford Street just to see the lights shining in the dark.
The lights used to be special there, these days it feels like only half the effort gets put into it.
But I guess that's Sadiq Khan's London for all of us now.
I hate the fact Oxford Street has been pedestrianised, London is changing and nothing is getting any better.
But I will always have those memories, sitting in the back of the car, looking out the window, Dad playing & singing Christmas songs to us and that overall magical feeling it gave me
The moment Oxford Street became traffic-free.
Almost a kilometre of Oxford Street has been pedestrianised between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street, with cars, buses, taxis and bicycles no longer allowed.

🚨 WOMAN, 64, JAILED FOR NINE YEARS AFTER GROOMING AND SEXUALLY ABUSING A BOY
Tracy Bancroft, 64, of Filey, North Yorkshire, has been jailed for nine years and four months after admitting offences against a teenage boy she groomed and repeatedly sexually abused.
York Crown Court heard Bancroft gave the boy a strong mixture of rum and juice before the first incident. He had little sexual knowledge, did not fully understand what was happening and froze in shock.
Judge Simon Hickey said the abuse involved clear grooming and planning.
The devastating impact on the victim has continued for years. His mother told the court she had repeatedly intervened to stop him taking his own life, describing the damage to his education, employment prospects and wellbeing.
He kept the abuse secret for years before beginning to disclose it following a suicide attempt. A further year passed before he felt able to give police a statement.
Bancroft showed no remorse, his mother told the court.
She has also received a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a lifetime requirement to remain on the sex offenders’ register and a lifetime ban on working with children or vulnerable adults.
The order prohibits her from contacting the victim, posting about him on social media or having unsupervised contact with any boy.
