Private hospitals are very efficient at billing. One consulting here, a lab here, a prescription there and 2000 cedis you didn’t have is gone.

I have spoken about this a lot in respect to Ghana, a national identity is a negotiated outcome.
The whole idea that Ghana should continue to be segregated into tribal blocs — to respect minorities is regressive and a stupid idea espoused by the vulgar aspects of progressivism.
We need to build a collective national identity, and in some respect, that must come from a collective historical birth story. A constructed and negotiated national identity.
My native Asante for example is a construct, it’s made up of foundational Asantes, who were joined by Denkyira, Bono’s and other tribal groups to create a collective Asante ethnicity and identity.
These things are not fixed, and nation building requires that it’s not set in stone.
If your response to my questions about the dearth of women in appointments was “the vice president is a woman” then don’t be offended that people want her to carry every gender issue on her head.
Gold at $4,000 per ounce, down 8% YTD. Brent crude at $112, up 90% YTD. Bad for Ghana’s balance of payments, reserves, and currency. 2027 budget coming up next month is going to have to take in these unfavourable benchmarks into their projections.

This semester, I will be guest-lecturing some topics in Philosophy of Law with Dr. Richmond Kwesi and others as a final-year course in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Ghana.
The class meets on Mondays from 9:30 am to 11:20 am.
In this class, we aim to interrogate some philosophical issues surrounding the concept of law and its application.
All students at the University of Ghana are welcome to participate if they are interested.
Although it is, by its methodology, a philosophical course, one doesn't need special philosophical training to make sense of the material.
I hope to see you anytime you decide to attend.
* I will update you on the venue by the end of the week.
The Ghana education system infantalises high school students at every turn, till it's time to sleep with them. Suddenly they they are old enough for grown men to sleep with.
They act like wild animals when students sleep with each other, but are powerless when adults do it

In the Ghanaian court of public opinion, you’re guilty till proven innocent of every crime except rape. Then everyone’s aunt and uncle remembers the articles and sections.
Somebody should give me a generous grant to study West African military cooperation of the 1990s and lessons we can learn about fighting Sahel militants.
The idea of the USA is so powerful that it served as an inspiration for French revolutionaries, Russian revolutionaries, Irish revolutionaries, Vietnamese nationalists, Simon Bolivar and other Latin American independence fighters, Kwame Nkrumah.
Cantonments and Labone has apartments, hotels, and restaurants worth hundreds of millions of dollars and yet you can’t see at night for lack of street lights. I guess this is what people mean when they talk about low quality elites.
If you’re planning a walk or run this season, try and go by 6am at the latest. Stepped out 7am and I was so dehydrated. Never doing this again.
Oil hits $109 per barrel. Who’s going to become a millionaire by instituting a “swap your ICE car for an EV” scheme?

One of my favorite popular theories from early in the war was the notion that attacking Iran was part of Trump's grand strategy to deprive China of its sources of oil--moving against Venezuela and then Iran in sequence.
Anyway, China's response to the war was to cut its oil imports, which it did with little trouble. Meanwhile, the US will be buying diesel from Russia.
What people don’t get about professional pathways like becoming a lawyer or chartered accountant is that it’s a leveler. On a CV it’ll make up for a lot of disadvantages, such as not making it into elite universities.
