I’m a conservative voter in red Arkansas. I have early voted whenever I could after having had to stand in line for hours in 1992 (I voted against Bill). The idea that early voting turnout is linked to the left needs some data to substantiate it.
With early voting beginning today in Texas, a wave of October Surprises sweep through key races. Reporting from @megbasham. Get the facts first with Morning Wire.

Also, note that when talking about post-vote regret by early voters, Basham mentions surveys from many COUNTRIES showing that (especially low-information) voters regret their choices due to last-minute information. Which countries? Because the only one that should matter is USA.

This is an interesting conversation. According to Basham, Lilly is not a Christian organization because they provide money to non-Christian causes. Thus to recived money from them is suspect. Lilly Endowment funds a wide variety of projects. I would be surprised if all of those projects are Christian. I am not going to argue whether Lilly is Christian or not and in fact for the sake of argument I will stipulate that at the very least it is not evangelical and will support some stuff I do not like. About 25 years ago, I was part of a reserach team that recieved a nice Lilly grant to study multiracial church. From that research I wrote a Christian book - One Body, One Spirit - that helped a lot of churches become racially diverse. Other work has used Lilly money to do great things for evangelicals specifically and the Body in general. Should we have tuned down that money to remain "pure."? I do not think that turning down resources to remain pure is scriptural. As long as the organization does not force me to work towards non-Christian ends, it did not make me less of a Christian to use the money from Lilly to do good things. When the Israelies left Egypt to go to the promised land, the Egyptians (Exodus 12:36). God allowed them to plunder the Egyptians. There were a lot of ways the Israelies sinned during that period of time. That was not one of them. So even if Lilly is not a Christian organization, so what? What did organizations do with the money is what I care about. If they repurpose the money to further the Kingdom them so much the better. Painting people as sold out because they recieved money from an organization we do not trust is short sighted and inaccurate. Show me what they do with the money and then we can talk.
Replying to @megbasham
@megbasham classifies any foundation or org that gives a grant to a mainline church or seminary a “secular” org. This is how she can declare that orgs like CT get “the majority of their funding” from “secular” sources.

I’ll add one more thing: Russia actively jails or kills evangelical pastors in the territories they control. They are in cahoots with the Russian Orthodox Church. Ukraine, before the war, was the hub for evangelical missions and church planting in Eastern Europe. It’s the most evangelical country in that part of the world. They also kidnap and traffic young children. This is something Melania Trump has thankfully highlighted.
Russia/Ukraine is not a “both sides” moral equivalence thing. One side is the evil aggressor. The other side is defending their sovereign homeland.

If you're a Christian leader who's had an affair, it's ok to go sell insurance. Or build houses. Or drive Uber. You should repent and be fully restored to community within the life of the church. But you don't have to get back on stage. You don't need to teach. If can't serve without being in the spotlight, maybe you weren't really serving in the first place.

Partisanly unpredictable. The politic should be predictable by nature of following the Kingdom of God.
Christians should be politically unpredictable.

Christians do not owe allegiance to any political party. There is no such thing as "the Christian party." Our allegiance belongs to Christ. His priorities, teaching, and way of being in the world should shape the political decisions we make, the convictions we hold, and the causes we advocate for (which won't all map neatly onto either the Right or the Left). "No version of Christianity that is faithful and orthodox and true can just fit neatly into either a Democrat or Republican box. Anyone who is trying to do that is giving up the best gift that we have, which is this word from outside that challenges the human assumptions and political boxes we’ve made." @kaitlynschiess on 🎙️The SkyePod: Responding to Ezra Klein’s Interview with James Talarico

This is what unbridled, raw spiritual manipulation looks like. Holding prominent leaders to account for ongoing violations of New Testament standards and doctrine in no way equates to "attacking each other," "being unkind," etc. Do many critics online cross from righteous criticisms into carnal mockery, personal attacks, etc? Of course. Welcome to the internet. Does this mean all biblical standards for righteous leadership are thus, "none of your business" and should be abandoned? Of course not. The Bible commands that the body of Christ hold leaders to biblical standards. For Benny Hinn of all people to accuse critics of his or Kenneth Copeland of doing it all for money may win the all-time best gas-lighting, hypocrisy award of the past forty years. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
At the Southwest Believers' Convention, Benny Hinn demands that critics in the church "stop attacking" and judging 'men of God' like Kenneth Copeland and Bill Johnson, saying they are grieving the Holy Spirit and that "it's none of your business."

Faith alone = Faith in Christ is the only means of justification, without our works or merits. It’s because Jesus has done ENOUGH to secure our right standing with God.

Pet peeve: Online folks who handwring that "we've lost the Republic" or "It's the end of democracy" every time a court case or policy fight or election is lost. Give me a break. This country endured a civil war. Our grandparents fought the Nazis and Communists and won. Let's have more faith in the country. Thankfully, this is an online phenomenon among people who cash in on cynicism for clicks. Rank-and-file normal people are busy living their lives and don't think the sky is falling.

White nationalism in America is especially weird because --historically-- nativism was about White people opposing the immigration of other White people. Like, do you who this flag was about?

So let me get this right. One American Presbyterian denomination (PCA) has reaffirmed its prohibition of women serving as deacons. And another American Presbyterian denomination (PCUSA) has opted against affirmation of monogamy.

Um. Why not just show it in the fellowship hall after church?
This Sunday, we begin a new sermon series. We're producing a 6-part documentary about our nation's history to celebrate our 250th anniversary. We'll launch the episodes each week during our Sunday morning services. It's something you won't want to miss. Here's a sneak peek at what's coming.

The most masculine men in the world are not the guys preening about it online. They are the ordinary dads who took their families to church after working all week to provide. They are the dads who get up early to read their Bibles and point their kids, however imperfectly, toward Christ.
