In this day and age, to argue that Diwali is a 'South Asian' festival is an extreme disservice to the millions of Hindus who preserved and kept traditions alive because they were Hindu Traditions.
They did this outside "South Asia" because they were Hindu and that identity meant something.
You won't melt by calling Diwali a Hindu festival.

While I was working on the recall of Aisha Wahab, he was posing for pictures with her. We are fortunate that Governor Newsom vetoed the caste bill; otherwise, future generations of our community could have suffered. Below is our team who fought.
Ritesh : @RoKhanna did fight alongside us for overturning the Caste bill few years ago. But he needs to do a whole lot more for the Hindu community. Will press him on this. He also needs to push the Palestinians for dropping their demand for the “End of the Jewish state”. Israel is going nowhere. To support such a violent cause as “end of the Jewish state” is terrible for the Palestinian people. Ro needs to do better to focus on bringing about peace. Unless the Palestinians drop their demands for “right of return” and “end of Jewish state”, there will be no peace in the region. Where there are 50 Islamic states there should be absolutely no problem in having one Jewish state.
