Most horrifying aspect of Dylan Roof's crime is that not only was he welcomed to the Church, but a Congregant even tried to reason with him AFTER he had already killed. Twice God looked down and offered him salvation, a way out and his soul refused.

Hi, lawyer here. Lots of people who frankly should know better are taking this out of context.
Yes, this teen carefully planned and carried a mass shooting that killed and wounded several people at a food festival. Yes, the judge let the mass shooter walk free. Here’s why: 🧵

Nice job, @mcgillu! It's nice to see my alma mater not marginalizing the communities of rapists and murderers. I should add that the term "rapist" is mean; always better to use "Undocumented Love Maker" or "Altruistic Surprise Sperm Donor." Rapists have feelings too. I'm sure that my intellectual mentor, Wood Cricket @jessicatarlov agrees with me.
It recently came to light that Jeffrey George Ewert, a man convicted of the rape and murder of one woman and a choking attack on a 15-year-old girl for refusing his advances which rendered her quadriplegic, was enrolled in law school classes at McGill University.
In response to his being removed from the classroom pending a safety review, some McGill law students and alumni created a petition to bring him back into the classroom.
The Law Students' Association has backed the petition.
Clinical assessments determined that Jeffrey George Ewert's risk of reoffending is moderate to high.
He picked up his first victim while she was hitchhiking home from a bar. He strangled her unconscious, raped her, and then threw her body in a river.
Less than 6 weeks later he severely beat and strangled a 15-year-old girl for refusing his advances. He threw her body in a ditch and the girl was found alive the next day.
The girl has suffered blindness, severe brain damage, and quadriplegia from the vicious attack.
Ewert broke his parole conditions multiple times by viewing women’s profiles on social media, getting their phone numbers, starting discussions with them, and exploring a dating site without notifying his case management team.
He was reprimanded by the parole board in 2025 but the kooks who created and signed the petition still want him to be part of this human experiment with young female students.
Canadian judges are facilitating violent and dangerous males through two-tier judgments based on Gladue. Law students are being indoctrinated into advocating for this amoral and dangerous idiocy.

“Women talk a lot about how scared of male violence they are, but from their behavior it's clear they never actually consider it a possibility”
When I was eighteen I was out for the night with my bf and some friends, we were barhopping in Kings Cross. I was tipsy & occasionally lippy & obnoxious towards strangers (who were asking for it!).
My bf quietly & discreetly at one point during the night said “babe, I love you, but fuck sometimes I worry that you’re writing cheques I won’t be able to cash, if it comes to and I’m on my own”. I was like “wtf are you talking about?”
He literally had to explain to me that if I was being a fuckwit starting trouble, he’d obviously have to defend me if anything went down, and if I’m being a massive smart ass and it’s just like him & me & my best girlfriend, then he’s going to be in a fight on his own. All because I was being an antagonistic smart ass to some strangers who couldn’t take a joke.
The idea that I needed to be able to back up my words with violence if it came to it, was something that had literally never occurred to me. Ever.
It was a total revelation. Suddenly i realised talk wasn’t “cheap” in this context, it was expensive. The idea that I could effectively get him beaten up, or put him in real danger, by being a precocious little shit arguing with idiots because I could, was horrifying.
From then on I was extremely reluctant to ever argue with strangers or act like a smart ass unnecessarily, because I was suddenly keenly aware that the guys we were with could potentially be expected to pay with their lives for any poorly received flippant comments we made.
It really was totally novel to me. This isn’t how women see the world, at all.
Ideally, he wouldn't have reacted like this
But any guy is aware that when you shove another man, getting lightly swatted (or more) is 100% on the table, so they won't do it unless they're being intentionally aggressive

We don't live in the 60s. You're shoving a steroid user on an athletic scholarship in the middle of a football game. You have to understand that this inherently comes with a degree of danger

It’s weird that the people who excoriate Elon Musk for not spending a couple billion to end world hunger never ask Harvard to liquidate its $2.2 billion stake in SpaceX to do the same.

The future of the Right is neither unfiltered MAGA nor George W Bush conservatism. Neither side wants to hear that and believes that they’ll somehow defeat and excise the sect of the GOP that’s the problem - you both are!
The future of the GOP looks more like Rubio & DeSantis than Vance or Pence. The more you pull towards the later two, the more the Democrats will eat our lunch and make impossible for another GOP led government.
“There is an entire MAGA industrial complex that has risen up in the Trump era that thinks it has permanently won arguments, when it has really just drafted behind Trump and Trumpism. They’ve pushed through open doors and doors knocked off their hinges by Trump, and think they’ve won an intellectual argument. But the midterms look poised to deal a massive blow to that, in part because their arguments for protectionism, industrial policy, and mass deportation have not yielded anything like the “golden age” that was promised. I find the idea that these guys—the self-styled intellectuals, the jabroni remora apparatchiks, and the get-rich-while-the-getting-is-good grifters, alike—will be well situated to win arguments on the right or anywhere else in the post-Trump era very implausible. Because the record of their tenure, in terms of policy and politics, won’t look like a golden age to anybody.”

We've had satellite telecommunications for many decades now. What makes Starlink so unique is that it's a Low Earth Orbit constellation, which drastically lowers latency and improves bandwidth; two things that usually make satellite connections sub-par compared to almost any other option. But to get global coverage at such low altitude you need a massive constellation of thousands of birds - which is why SpaceX was the first to build one, as their launch costs are lower by an order of magnitude due to having reusable rockets.
To make any kind of competitor to Starlink/Starshield, you'll need a re-usable rocket of your own, or to pay SpaceX to launch them - and they may well decline to orbit the birds of a competitor.
This is a unique capability that only the United States has ownership of. The idea that anyone can just "replace" Starlink is born of profound stupidity.

what an amazing story of George Lucas happening to discover Harrison Ford bc Ford was installing office doors for him as a carpenter and was randomly asked to read with other actors for Star Wars.
kind of weird Lucas didn't recognize Ford from Ford's appearance in his earlier film American Graffiti but maybe that one didn't make it to India
Harrison Ford went from a struggling actor working as a self-taught carpenter to one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood history...
His work as a carpenter changed his destiny forever. While installing a set of wooden office doors for director George Lucas, Harrison was asked to read lines with young actors who were auditioning for a new sci-fi project.
His natural tone and presence caught everyone's attention.
Before that fateful moment in the studio office, Harrison Ford was just a quiet, hardworking young man trying to support his family in Southern California.
With two young sons, Benjamin and Willard, and bills piling up, he knew he had to find a reliable way to put food on the table.
Instead of giving up, Harrison went to the local library, checked out books on woodworking, and taught himself carpentry from scratch.
He bought hand tools, learned how to measure precisely, and began taking freelance jobs. He built custom kitchen cabinets, constructed sturdy dining tables, repaired broken entryways, and framed outdoor decks.
He spent long, exhausting days under the California sun, coming home every evening covered in wood dust with calloused hands.
His early break in woodworking came when musician Sérgio Mendes hired him to build a $100,000 recording studio in his backyard.
Harrison tackled the massive project head-on, delivering meticulous craftsmanship that quickly made him the go-to carpenter for prominent Hollywood figures, including director Francis Ford Coppola and producer Fred Roos.
Through all those uncertain years, his first wife, Mary Marquardt, was the anchor of their family.
Working dedicatedly as a cook, Mary kept their household grounded, caring for their young boys and creating a warm, peaceful home while Harrison worked with his hands to keep them afloat.
They shared a simple, quiet life built on mutual support and hard work.
Then came 1977, and everything changed in an instant.
The sci-fi film George Lucas was casting turned out to be Star Wars. Harrison was cast as Han Solo, and almost overnight, the humble woodworker became one of the most famous men on Earth.
The sudden, overwhelming nature of global stardom entered their quiet home like a storm. The constant public attention, long trips away from home, and drastic changes in lifestyle put immense pressure on their relationship.
The couple divorced in 1979. Though rumors and stories surfaced years later about the chaotic time on set, the core truth was that the quiet life they had built together in the early days simply succumbed to the weight of fame.
Yet, what makes their story so meaningful is what happened after the marriage ended. Mary never sought revenge, never ran to the tabloid press, and never demanded public attention. She chose a life of dignity, pouring her heart into her culinary passion and raising her sons away from the spotlight.
When Mary was later diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Harrison did not turn his back on her. He stayed present, making sure she had access to the best medical care and support possible.
Long after the romantic relationship ended, a deeper bond remained built on gratitude and deep mutual respect.
As Harrison once reflected during an interview, "You don't always get what you want in life, but you still have a responsibility to care for the people who helped you become who you are."
Their legacy lives on in their children, who both chose honest, hands-on careers rather than chasing the superficial glamour of movie stardom.
