I think it should all go to executive compensation, advertising and sponsorship of professional sports teams.

Tax exemptions in healthcare. Should there be specific requirements how hospitals provide care and pricing of services?
Dr. Vivian Ho makes a strong case for this.

As a young conservative staffer, I’ve always thought of progressive staffers as honorable opponents in the war of ideas, messaging, and political strategy. I’m learning they do not think of us the same way.
ON UCHICAGO CAMPUS: U.S. Senator from Michigan Elissa Slotkin hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics.

During an interview with @JTLonsdale, they discussed passage of the Death Star Bill and school choice, working with @RepJamesFrank on lowering health care costs, and ongoing efforts to make cities safer by holding rogue DAs like Jose Garza accountable.

Biden abdicated his role and the state had to step in. Even most border Ds agreed but never Talarico. He thinks we should have an open border.
Also, I won’t be responding to anonymous X accounts anymore. Be transparent or be ignored. #txlege

Christians of the first century understood clearly that abortion was immoral. The Didache, a Christian ethics manual written between 50-100 AD, states, “You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill them when born.” @FWdiocese @NTCatholic @TXCatholic @usccbprolife #TXLege

Yes. But it only required a simply majority to change.
Did Gina Hinojosa (and Talarico) vote AGAINST making it harder to add an income tax in Texas (moving it to 2/3’s of House and Senate).
Yes. They wanted to keep an income tax as a possibility in Texas.

Hinojosa has publicly said we need to have income taxes as the “third leg of the stool” to make sure we have enough tax revenue.
She voted against making it harder to pass an income tax in Texas. Full stop.

Replying to @pjakcoker_patty
The prior ban allowed a simple majority of legislators to pass an income tax. The new ban requires 2/3 majority in both houses.
Hinojosa did not vote to make an income tax more difficult. Neither did Talarico.
Why run from their record? #txlege

NEW: @GinaHinojosaTX denies she voted in 2019 against the constitutional amendment to ban a state income tax in Texas. That contradicts legislative records.

Hinojosa and Talarico both voted to keep a Texas income tax on the table. Abbott fought for and won a constitutional ban on income taxes.
Thankful that there are at least a couple of journalists that will call out Hinojosa on this.

Given how many ways traditional insurance hides rebates/kickbacks from employers, many employers are currently failing their fiduciary responsibility to their employees.
Ignorance is not a great excuse for letting your employees get ripped off.
#txlege #ContractualTerrorism
If you run a company, you now have a fiduciary/legal responsibility to make sure your healthcare benefits actually benefit your employees.
If not , you are legally liable.
You have to learn how it all works. You can’t ask a broker or consultant to figure it out for you. The responsibility stays with you and never goes to them. Even if they lie, steal and cheat you.
It’s all on you.

The House Select Committee on Governmental Oversight had a long and productive day yesterday, examining issues critical to local accountability, including the responsible use of Texans’ taxpayer money and prosecutorial integrity, as well as exploring the implications of adding certain New Mexico counties to Texas.
Thank you to Chairman @cvasut and members of the committee for their commitment to ensuring affordability and public safety for Texans. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to share their experiences, perspectives and expertise with the committee.

Healthcare prices at least 2x what a rational market would cost.
Not controversial to fix, just a bunch of money arrayed against solutions.

What’s broken that we could fix if smart people confronted it, but everybody is afraid that it’s too controversial?
These are great areas to consider for philanthropy or for-profit work!
