#DidYouKnow The Great Southern of India Railway Company company laid the second rail line in Madras Presidency when a 48.08-mile broad gauge line was laid from Negapatnam to Thiruvarur on 15-07-1861, which was then extended it to Tanjore on 02-12-1861. The line was thereafter extended to Trichinopoly on 11-03-1862, 32 miles away and then extended up to Karur (45 miles) on 03-10-1866. This line was thereafter extended up to Erode, 40 miles away, thereby connecting this line with the main line from Madras to Beypore. #IndianRailways #History
