Just canceled my Netflix subscription. According to the boomers, I should have enough money for a down payment on a house by next Friday. Wish me luck.

Sorry for my far-left opinion, but if you think a woman is flirting with you just because she’s not wearing a bra, you’re a potential rapist. Some men see a woman’s body and mistake their own dirty thoughts for her consent. Your fantasies are your responsibility, not hers.
It's clear what a woman is looking for when she goes without a bra, right?

Boomers told their kids they would be worthless losers if they didn't go to college, then put them in 100k debt at the age of 18 with double digit interest rates, then outsourced all of the jobs overseas and then mocked their children for believing them in the first place
Seriously. Find me ONE single policy where boomers accepted a short term sacrifice for the greater good of the country and their kids. One policy, one law, one plan. There’s nothing. Most self centered, arrogant, and entitled ME generation that ever lived.

You gave money to the govt & they wasted it. What’s so hard to understand? You trusted a criminal organization with a critical retirement investment. That was foolish and juvenile What’s worse, everyone knew this was a Ponzi scheme for decades and did nothing about it. Shameful

CAN SOMEONE WALK ME THROUGH HOW THIS MAKES SENSE By the time I retire at 67, I'll have paid roughly $540,000 into Social Security between my contributions and my employer's match. If that same money had just sat in an index fund averaging 7%, it would be worth about $2.4M. The dividends alone off that would be $168,000 a year. Instead, the government is projecting I'll get $2,950 a month at 67. That's about $35,400 a year. Someone explain the gap between those two numbers, because I genuinely don't understand where the rest of it goes.

Is it just me or anyone else noticed social and spatial awareness completely vanishing? People freezing in doorways, hogging the entire sidewalk, planted in front of exits, blocking whole aisles, stopping at the top of escalators… Get out of the way. Other people exist here too.

My cousin tried to buy a modest starter home listed for $260,000 in his hometown. He saved for five years, secured an FHA pre-approval letter, and put in an offer at $270,000 ($10k over asking). The seller's agent rejected it within three hours. An institutional real estate investment firm bought the house cash for $285,000, installed an electronic keypad, and listed it as a rental for $2,400/month two weeks later. When my cousin checked the public county records, that same private equity firm owned 14 out of the 20 houses on that exact street. Working families aren't losing out on homeownership because they don't work hard enough. They are being outbid by Wall Street algorithms using billions in automated capital to corner whole zip codes and turn baseline shelter into a permanent rental trap.

I will NEVER FORGET in JUNE 2020 when shops had JUST been allowed to open and we were allowed to have 5 people total in the store and everyone was double masking, this woman came in with her kid and said “can we take off our masks?” I said no and she said, “but we’re the only ones in here!!!” And at that moment it became so clear to me that so many people do not see service industry people or retail employees as actual people.

The ultimate recession indicator? Nobody judges you anymore. “I'm 32 and have roommates.” Makes sense. “I'm 40 and moving back with my parents.” Makes sense. “We make six figures and can't afford daycare.” Makes sense. “I haven't replaced my 15-year-old appliances.” Smart. “I can't afford to eat out anymore.” Same. That's the recession indicator nobody measures. Financial situations that would've shocked people 15 years ago barely get a reaction anymore. The struggle became normal.

My son came to me with some news. He told me Dolly Parton had died and I said I knew. And then he got quiet for a second and said she loved me. She used to send me a lot of books. I had to just look at him for a moment. He was talking about the Imagination Library. The program where Dolly sends books to children every month from birth until they start school. Millions of kids across the country get these books. My son believed that Dolly Parton personally knew him. That she had specifically selected each book, thought about him individually, put it in an envelope, and mailed it to our house every single month because she loved him specifically. Not as part of a program. Not as one of millions of children. But because she and my son had a personal relationship and she was devoted to his literary development specifically. And honestly when you think about it from a child's perspective that's not even an unreasonable conclusion. Books showed up every month with her name attached. She clearly cared. Why wouldn't she know him personally. I didn't have the heart to fully correct him in that moment. Because also he wasn't entirely wrong. She did love him. She loved all of them. She just loved a lot of children at once and had a very efficient system for showing it. Rest easy Dolly. My son misses you personally.

According to the schedule, the humpback whale Timmy is expected to pass the Danish town of Skagen—thereby reaching the North Sea—on May 2, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM. The tugboat *Robin Hood* is currently towing the barge carrying the animal from the Baltic Sea toward the Atlantic. The entire transfer operation is scheduled to take approximately three and a half days. The towing journey all the way to the Atlantic could take about a week.
