They also knew that the meaning of language evolves over time, but it would be ridiculous to base the law on linguistic drift rather than the meaning when enacted. They also used general words like "arms," not "muskets," so their fixed meaning could be applied to changing facts.
No one is above the law, except our moral betters.
BREAKING: The flagship law review at UC Berkeley is poised to delete all internal application records after we reported on the journal's use of personal statements to promote "diversity," sparking concerns that the journal is attempting to destroy evidence of unlawful discrimination.
The law review will vote tomorrow on a document retention policy that would require the journal to delete all "Write-On application materials following the conclusion of each year's Write-On process," as well as any materials related to the election of the journal's Holistic Review Committee. It would also bar the law review from retaining "any recordings of election forums."
As a reminder, law review editors have pledged in writing to "uplift Native voices," weigh "diverse life experience" against "technical editing abilities," and "integrate anti-racist sentiment" into the selection process.

That’s not what @ElissaSlotkin said.
What she said, was that she wanted to discourage “young conservatives” from entering government service by making them afraid of being prosecuted and of the costs (legal and social) from those prosecutions.

The Warren Court was easily the most "partisan" court in history, though given that the parties were mixed ideologically at the time, it was more "partisan liberal" than "partisan Democrat." Case in point: Reynolds v. Sims, made up out of whole cloth, cost rural conservative areas throughout the US seats in state legislatures in favor of urban liberals. This was undoubtedly the intent.

3/ narrowly partisan interests of the Republican party. It's dark comedy watching those who dynamited the judicial branch now, half seriously, pleading for respect and decorum. Constitutional government and self-government can't survive with this Court and the public ...

For those of us who have warned for years that demonizing Israel and defending Islamists and radicals on both the left and right would destroy the West, being proven right will bring no satisfaction—only profound regret that no one would listen or act.

Marseille today: seven thousand peace activists wreak havoc, storm town hall, attack police station, smash dozens of shops, stealing entire store contents of electronics, clothing, sports goods, perfume.

I'm overwhelmed and overjoyed by the number of amicus briefs filed with the Supreme Court in support of my Cal Bar cert petition. 14 amicus briefs, representing 21 different organizations and 36 individuals, many of whom have also been targets of Barfare. All (but 1!) are terrific. I'm particularly partial to this line from the Article III Project brief: "John Eastman is an able lawyer of sound character who rendered service to the President of the United States." 😇The briefs are all available here: supremecourt.gov/docket/Dock…. First Amendment scholars, Liberty Legal, Am First Policy Inst, Oversight Project, MacIver Institute, Nat'l Legal & Policy Center, America's Future and Citizens United et al., Life Legal Foundation, APA Watch, Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, among others. Collectively, they tell a powerful story both of the First Amendment violations we've raised but also of the broader risk posed by barfare, particularly in intensely partisan election disputes. All of them are worth the time to read. And many thanks to everyone who participated in preparing these important briefs. The California Bar waived response (pretty common), so the Supreme Court clerk has now distributed my petition and these amicus briefs for consideration at the Court's Nov. 6 conference. Pray that the Justices do two things at that conference: 1) CFR--Call for a Response from the California Bar; and 2) CVSG--Call for the Views of the Solicitor General.

If you’re confused about the post-liberals, this is a good summary.
Basically a perfect encapsulation of the central problem with the NatCon speeches by Yoram's New Right Americans by @Doranimated, speaking with my friend @GadiTaub1. Excellent explanation. I'd only add that explaining the foreign propaganda forming their message would help too.
